Science and God 7 - Quantum Physics and Brahman

  • I thought there is one place where physics and Vedanta can never find common ground. Physics deals with the material realm of matter and it could never venture into the field of consciousness, which is the domain of Vedanta. With the emergence of Quantum Physics and Relativity, this barrier between consciousness and material world is breaking down in physics. In the previous post I talked how Quantum physics made the observer central to reality itself. Here I talk more about the deep resonance between the findings of quantum physics and the teachings of Vedanta. It is uncanny how much quantum physics makes sense when viewed through the lens of Vedanta.

    Madam
    You have brought the resonance of Q.P and Advaita concepts lucidly , succinctly and confidently in more simple explanation than the most acclaimed scientists like Fritz of Capra, Paul Davies , Michio Kaku who offered in their books. I gained this impression from your latest video Nobel prize in physics for 2022. I am amazed to know that u r the author of so many other presentations like Science and God etc. If you make a live presentation with power point in some metro city elites are bound to fill the auditorium buying expensive tickets. It is a great talent and erudition to study both Spiritualism and Science at their best and lay them threadbare for the audience. The Almighty is with you in your endeavours.

      Whatever theory exists as on today, everything has certain level of uncertainty. Uncertainty itself is the top secret of nature which might be known to only one entity which most of humans call "God". But, as every one has many flaws as far as consciousness is concerned because of overlapping of many day-to-day events. Same time, whatever religious texts available as on today, no single book, script or text can explore this universe. Even greatest memory that each cell continues to retain over billions of years too, a great task one to explore. It's light or mass, which originated at first? Since mass-light inseparable as far as energy is concerned. Unlike humans, animals need not think about moksha or else like different platform after physical demise.

    I have one observation here.. (I have referred to Arvin Ash, Jim Al Khalili etc. also)
    The interpretation of Double Slit experiment (Out of several interpretation), the Copenhagen Interpretation by Schrodinger and Bohr, the way in which we interpret "observation" and linking it with "consciousness" is not implied.
    Here, observation means , quantum measurement, which in turn is the interaction of two quantum states that cause collapse. You may refer to the paper published by Shan Yu and Danko Nikolic (Annalen Der Physik) in 2011. Their experiment recorded, "Which way information recorded in the state of an Atom" and this information is not available for a conscious observer but was preserved in atom. In other words, it was available to the universe. Thus, as long as information is preserved in the universe, the wave collapses even if the consciousness of the physicist (or any human being) is not there to observe it.
    So, I believe, there is something observing universe into existence, but it does not have to be human consciousness. Remember, Heisenberg once told "What we probe is not nature, but nature under our method of questioning"

    Quantum physics is a very complex subject which is baffling even for senior students of physics. So when anyone talks about it in flowing language to the public at large they will surely be thrilled. Add some vedanta and spirituality to it the effect will be fantastic as revealed in the comments to this video. I am one who taught theoretical physics and in particular quantum theory to senior students for many decades.
    I have great admiration for Indian philosophy and Vedas . It requires a deeper understanding in modern times with our present knowledge of physical and mental world. There is no doubt about it. However, I am sorry to state that this video is misleading about inner meaning of Brahm as well as quantum physics.
    Just one remark.
    Brahm is not consciousness exactly but it is the ultimate reality which is unknown and unknowable! You can find many parralals in it with what physicists call unified field. On the other hand, consciousness is an emergent property of a neural network, either biological or electronic. Consciousness outside matter is just hollow jargon.

    Ma'am, you've got very intersting videos and excellent narration i must say.
    I have a question regarding time. We on Earth experience time in linear fashion only in the forward direction. Like we're able to travel back & forth in length, breadth and height, we cannot travel back n forth in time.
    Now there's a theory that says there's no real past or future on the universal scale and everything that was in the past or yet to come in future, exists all at once. So how do we correlate this at the soul level if time is non linear ? For eg: If a person dies and his/her soul reincarnates into another body, does the previous-birth person continue to exist on the universal time scale ? Also then, the future-birth person ?

    Archana Madam
    In nucler science there are two discoveries
    Viz.Calling particles of atoms as 'particles' and 'waves'. As particles, they express as atoms creating the entire phenomenal universe, as Pancha bhoothas(from which our physical body arises). As Waves it expresses as FIELD, consisting of four forces of gravitational force, electro magnetic force, Strong forxe and Weak force which control Pancha bhoothas.. They express as our own Antahkarana,(mind with four currents in it as imaginations, memory, discrinatory power and ego). Maharishi Mahesh Yogi made lot of contributions to it. He told as Waves they form our mind and as particles they create Pancha bhoothas! Here we come across the concept THE OBSERVER AND THE OBSERVED ARE ONE.

    Awesome explanation about dreams. It is true that what I see in my dream is what I alone see. But characters in the dream behave (incidents in a dream) randomly and not what I wish them to do. And incidents happen without our control and more often irrelevant, meaningless. For example, in my dream of yesterday, I saw a lake and someone was sitting on its bank and got up, walked away after a moment. This is not what I wished him to do. So, in this example, how do you fit your theory of dream ?

    Madam. this is very lucid. i struggled myself to make that connection which you have done effortlessly. im often tempted to conclude that our ancestors knew what western science is finding out today. If you entertain that thought for a moment then the question arises -- how did they know all this? Simply by turning onwards? or you think we have visitations from advanced alien civilization who taught us this knowledge. What our ancestors pondered up on was truly mind boggling.

Tht way by our strong imagination, can we bring the dead back?
    Second point, can we attach some gadgets to our selves and our parents so that we both travel by speed of light and hence stop aging and be there with each other for ever? Can we arrest time to be with our parents unaged?

    Our mind creates all the images from his past experiences which reflects as images in dreams. Isn't the mind itself is thinking itself as observer and also an observed? As from my experience of dreams the mind thinking itself as observer which it confuses as self tries to control what's happening in dreams which it thinks as outside. But consciousness is what is the main observer which is still. Isn't it still observing while we are in deep sleep.? Pardon me if my understanding is wrong.

    • @templesbooksandscience8697
      @templesbooksandscience8697  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes. It is observing in deep sleep too. It is the sakshi of all the three states of existence. The fact that you still register the absence of thought is given as a proof of consciousness beyond our mind in vedanta. Since we can observe the deep sleep when the brain is inactive vedanta says, consciousness is not a product of the brain. This observer is the real you.

    Hey Ma'am. Loved you video!
    I had a question- If I am the Brahman they why can't I control what's happening to me? No matter what I do, a lot of things are beyond my control. So why is that there are certain things that I can control ( maybe like what I want to do) yet cannot control what's being happened to me?

    • @templesbooksandscience8697
      @templesbooksandscience8697  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you Anjana. This question goes to the very heart of Vedanta. I can give you a clue. When you say 'I' what are you referring to. Do you mean your body, mind and intellect. If so, that 'I'cannot control anything. That I is limited. You are Brahman or Tat tvam asi is a mahavakayam. It is the culmination of Vedanta. There are thousands of verses which explain what is "You" and what is "Brahman"in that sentence. I wish there was an easy answer to give you.

    Dear Madam
    You have explained very well. CONGRATULATIONS!
    In my Profile of ResearchGate, I have asked a question. Will you please give your views ?
    The question is: EVERY HIGGS PARTICLE IS THE EYE OF GOD (NIRGUNA NIRVIKARA AKHANDA PARABRAHMAM- Rig Veda) or SATYAM GNANAM ANANTAM BRAHMA -Taittiriya Upanishad )

    So far dream world is concerned, it is well explained but what about the world we experience while we are awake

    • @templesbooksandscience8697
      @templesbooksandscience8697  ปีที่แล้ว

      That is another dream. A more persistent dream, bound by laws of nature and karma. But still an unreal and illusionary place

      Because, we have not yet awakened to that state.
      The One, who has awakened to that state (called as Shrotriya Brahmnishta in Vedanta) alone can realise that even what we experience in our waking state is not real.
      There were a few known realised souls in the recent past.
      1) Shri Ramkrishna Paramhans
      2) Shri Raman Maharshi
      3) Shri Nisargadatta Maharaj (who passed away only a decade & a half ago)
      Ref: The Gospel of Sri Ramkrishna, also 'I am That' (quotes of Nisargadatta Maharaj)
      You can watch a brilliant video in English by Swami Chinmayananda on you tube which exactly deals with the query you & most of us have

    Siva Vats commenting... A person ignoring body identity is identified with the beliefs of the person. Brahman creates both, person and wakeful world of individual person. Just as no other dreamer can enter the dream of one person, so too wakeful other persons in world of one wakeful person are only ideas of that person. So are the other wakeful persons bundles of ideas of them in every person’s wakeful world. So is any one person a bundle of ideas in the minds of other persons. The bundle of ideas of every person includes the body image or photo identity of the person.
    No person acts in the wakeful world of any person. All the bundles of ideas as things and persons are instant creations by Brahman. Only Atman of each person is sakshi and not the advaitic Brahman. The Shakti in Brahman creates, in every moment, the wakeful world of every person as well as all actions in the wakeful world of the person. Action includes speech, writing, signalling, etc. Creation by Shakti is same in all wakeful worlds in every moment. The created worlds are appearances in mind. So are the bundles of ideas as persons created in every moment, only appearances in the wakeful world of every person. Brahman is sat. Created worlds are asat as appearances. So are the created persons asat. Only Atman is ‘sat’ or ‘existence’ in mind and sensations of every life form. It is same as Brahman. If one names it Consciousness it is still one. All appearances are ‘asat’ in ONE 'sat' consciousness, wherein time and space are appearances. All sciences are bundles of ideas and all matter is only idea of matter as appearance in wakeful consciousness. ‘Chit’ is wakefulness or awareness. Consciousness is both ‘sat’ or existence and ‘chit’ or awareness or wakefulness. Consciousness or Sat-Chit-Bliss is not appearance. It is eternal and ONE. All creation as appearances, arise and disappear. Life time permanency and material nature of our wakeful world are also appearances wherein ideas of properties and qualities are also there.
    These above ideas, all ideas only, are found in recorded observations of Ramana Maharshi that gone into my memory and my ‘asat’ body has appeared, so far, for 86 years . Memory too is ‘asat’ appearance. Sorry to say, all e-posts, books and videos are ‘asat’ as appearances. They are ideas in minds, in terms of ideas in memory. One set of books and ideas are termed scientific ideas and another set termed advaitic ideas. They are ‘asat’. To each one his asat poison of choice appealing to his karmic memories. Best to hope to know one's atman in answer to 'who am I' ignoring one's person sustained by memories. Memories are of current lifetime and karmic memories. Best for each egoistic person to hope to know one’s atman and enjoy its merger with Brahman.

    Harih Om Archanaji, incredible! As a Advaita vedanta sadhaka, drawing many correlations - purnamada purnamidam…; drig drishya viveka etc..
    My father used to mention an older book Tao of Physics by Fritjof Capra.. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Tao_of_Physics . There is also another interesting book- Many Lives Many Masters by Dr Brian Weiss. Probably you have heard/read also.
    Vedanta and Matrix movie search brought me to your channel. Looking forward to listening more🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

    "Particles has no existence until it is observed". Kindly tell me when science told this.
    I just know from double slit experiment, it's found that particles acts differently when it's observed.

    Objects are independent of our consciousness. Even there is no human beings, the matter, Objects exist.

    The law of karma and rebirth does not apply in a dream witnessed by a human being but it does apply to his actions in the physical world. The statement that a particle exists only when it is observed is a wrong statement. It exists in the form of waves and is seen as a particle because time is fixed when observed by an observer.

    Two similar things do not mean there is one-to-one correspondence between them. So this video is not interpreting QM as we know it; rather it is seen through the lens of Vedanta. Technically, this misleading to the layperson.
