Science and God 6- Quantum physics and Vedanta

  • I thought there is one place where physics and Vedanta can never find common ground. Physics deals with the material realm of matter and it could never venture into the field of consciousness, which is the domain of Vedanta. With the emergence of Quantum Physics and Relativity, this barrier between consciousness and material world is breaking down in physics. In the previous post I talked about how General Relativity was the first step in breaking this barrier. Here, I talk about Quantum physics which made observer central to reality itself. Vedanta talks about witness consiousness, the sakshi chaitanyam and quantum physics talks about observer bringing things into existence. There are startling similarities between these two views.

    Wonderful video Ji and thank you. As a follower of Vedanta for 20 years and knowing about observer and observed, witness consciousness, reflected consciousness, your video still taught me and reenforced in me the Vedantic truth of absolute existence and relative existence, Mythya and Sathya! I am glad that I have found your videos, I will be going through all your videos. Pranams 🙏

      The problem is that this cannot be proved by western science because it’s outside the realm of maya and cant be witnessed through senses. It can only be experienced.

      Nothing exists in this creation except God who is the only doer and experiencer What you see in life is only illusion created by God
      One can understand this after self realization ie
      I am not the body mind and so called I does not exist

      madam -- your explanation is so beautiful. i am hoping you can make a video to answer my question. Adi shankara towards the end became an advocate of bhakti. what exactly is bhakti? advaita has no concept of God. who is the subject of bhakti in that case?

    To precise the experiment, one should take into consideration what means " observer" . Obsever is a person or machine that makes observation and/or measurements. So we cannot state that , the conscoussenes is the couse of the result of observation , or that machine is conscious.

    Sri Ramana used to say that a man saw in his dream an ancient monument and many archeologists , seen in that dream, arguing about the age of that structure. This is how all knowledge in the material world is. People wonder about the age of the universe and if there was one big bang or many etc. But vedanta tells us that it is only God's dream , illusion or Maya.
    They argue which came first, the egg or the chicken?
    Vedanta would say that both the chicken and the egg are unreal, and the dreamer preceded them both. But, it is fascinating to learn that , finally, modern physics is coming to the conclusions that our sages realized in their enlightened state thousands of years ago.
    Thank you Archana ji for this video. It is succinct, understandable and inspiring. You r narration is very pleasing and beautiful. I love the way you enunciate with such clarity.
    MAY GOD BLESS YOU

    There is a physicist Tom Campbell..he has comeup with. A book called My Big TOE (theory of everything) it's a beautiful explanation of both objective and subjective experiences..integrating weird science and mystical..it uses modern metophors for which vedanta uses sanskrit..

    Particle = maya
    Wave = vidya maya
    Stillness = Truth
    Perhaps... as the ego dissolves through spiritual practice (becomes less selfish) it is able to attain higher realms of existence (heavens) where gross becomes more subtle until finally a complete dissolution of any identity and all becomes waves... the vibration of Shivas drum. I agree with the concept. But consciousness and awareness are the outcome of our imagination, dream and desires. I don't know about Physics or quantum physics. But I felt for some last few years that every imagination can have equivalent physical reality. As the write's brothers must had thought before invention of airplane that a machine vehicle can also fly. Although almost 100% people wouldn't believe. But their imagination had got the physical reality. That's why everything is possible..
    2nd thing what I felt is that there's a single pulse in the universe. And that pulse is connected with every living beings as heart beat or life. Other living beings like trees etc are directly connected with that pulse. Since they have no heart. Thank you madam.

    Based on the information provided in the video, I have a doubt in interpretation drawn on double slit experiment. As per you, the particle stopped behaving like wave when a wave detector was placed. Right ? But how it showed particle behaviour ? There must have been a particle detector to observe its particle nature and that detector (observer in your language) should have shied away particles from showing particle nature no ? Why particles were selectively sensitive about wave detector only ?
    If it is true that matter does not exist unless we perceive it, what is the reply to Einstein's sarcasm about existence of moon ?

      I am trying to understand; your explanation was very lucid and for the first time I could really understand the similarity between quantum physics and Vedanta. From many discussions that I see, it appears that "shunyata" wisdom is very similar and from some talks it appears as if it's similarity with quantum physics is even more. Thanks for the profound explanation.
    I have a doubt. Much obliged if you could take some time and clear them.
    1. Does all living beings has this ever pervading consciousness(Brahman) within them including animals or is it just human beings.
    2. What would be the result of this experiment if a blind person is the observer ? Is it really the act of observing through the eyes(Gross Body) or just a presence of Brahman(Conscious Being) within a specific proximity from where the experiment is held.

    I have a question on this particular video I saw today.I don't know much about quantum physics, so this may be a very basic thing.
    You say that an entity when observed its a particle, else its a wave.
    How do we know its a wave when we have not observed it? Someone must have observed it to say its a wave right?

      Thanks for the video madam. I saw the video and have another doubt.
      In the experiment, the wall is also used as a detector and ultimately at a later point of time we are using that as a way to observe the electrons as waves.
      So, in that case we are observing the electron as a wave on the wall. So there is an observer and why didn't it change to a particle though we have the wall as a detector?

    If the world is an illusion, then why law of karma which is a reality. A particle exists only when it is observed is a wrong statement. If we don't observe then also it exists as waves. The observation just changes the state because time is fixed when observing.
