I have this Philips VCR that I'd like to fix. At first I thought the capacitors in the power supply were bad. Those are changed but now there are more issues. Comment anything helpful below.
Great video your mode switche needs cleaning if you don't know what a mode switch is you can go online and say how clean out a mode switch in a VCR player everything will come up what you need to see online everything proven mode switches when they get dirty it doesn't play tapes at all or sometimes it starts eat tapes everything proven mode switches in VCR players courses problem's in on getting dirty
2:25, see that gear that's spinning on the left, it wasn´t spinning in the beginning of the video, my guess is that the belt is loose and it messed up the timing, that's why when you spinned the gear manually it changed the behaviour.
possible solution: dirty sensors of cassete machanizm, they check if cassette is inside, clean the IR diodes there are 1 on left of the mechanizm1 on right and in midlle also clean transparent plastik on it
Probably the mode select switch or checking if the carriage is in its “up” and ejected position. Normally you can actuate the worm gear on the side of the carriage to do that
I’d believe so. It was a carriage timing issue. Since then the reinforcement strip has come away from the mechanism ribbon cable so I’ll have to glue that back on.
@@thefakemaker yes good luck .i am getting there with my philips vr165 it is the tuning system for me now as newer vcrs just switched via scart. Mine might need the rf connector in. Fun and games☺

@@thefakemaker Try turning all the way counter-clockwise before inserting the tape.

and those sensors are light sensitive so after cleaning them maybe try cover vcr or turn your room lights off and check
The gear system of my VCR is jammed. So tape is not going inside. What should I do?

My problem with Philips VR200/58 is a weak motor, not all cassetes are playable, and rewind and ff are very weak

I think I’ll have to brave that. I’ve replaced the belts and repaired the flex cable. Scared of having to desolder it.
I am currently restoring a philips vr165 have you got all your secondary ps voltages. 5 Volts from optocoupler also -28 38 abd 12

What did you do to solve it?
Took out the mode selector switch and cleaned it. But the whole carriage was out of time
