I love everything about this song, the drums, the bass, the guitar, Ashcroft's vocals, the lyrics, everything! When you listen to this and then listen to Judas and Appalachian Springs from Forth, it seems like the natural progression to the next album, even if they were 11 years apart.

Since the backing music is basically a 90s boom bap hip hop instrumental and not much else and this was released in the late 90s it can’t really be considered ahead of its time

great stuff, reminds of Crimson and Clover or Lou Reed. The guitar makes me think of early/middle modest mouse. They have that real watery, cascading texture to a lot of their songs as well.
