I really like the fact that you're honest about being overwhelmed by the project sometimes. You pull through, we all know you'll pull through, but it's nice to know that even really skilled and talented makers can look at a block of foam and just kinda panic before turning it into art.
@@Shadow82311its technically an animation but not in the sense that it was added on digitally afterwards, i think op was referring to how they were able to transfer that animation into something 3d completely from scratch
You know that it's a good prop/animatronic if it's game-accurate. And despite the red smoke thing because I know that is a hard practical effect to do, this is beyond game-accurate. The red LED ring to recreate it was a great idea to still pull it off though. Watching the whole process from start to finish and seeing him come together kept me wowing nonstop. You two have really outdone yourselves with this one. Well done!
@@kitty79erGood thing there are safer options to represent the "poppy gas." Also, there are gases that are flammable, but it would be best to avoid that type of gas, too.
Could you imagine running into this in a haunt? I kinda worry a tiny bit about the durability of the animatronic, since it's really built to video and not to last a season or ten. I can also imagine further exploiting the Arduino running the neck motor. Could you imagine some pressure mats on the floor or passive IR motion sensors tied to this thing so it turns its head to _look_ at you as you pass? I mean, yes, at this point it's actually fairly possible to build a machine vision system and have your animatronics lock eyes with guests, but even a simple interactive element would terrify most people.
Like those motion activation candy bowls, where the hand tries to grab the person taking candy or chips out! As the person moves from one mat to the other, the head follows them😂!

Said it before but I’ll say it again. It seems like with every project you guys do, the skill level increase is astronomical. You’re like making high concept crazy animatronics from literal scratch. It’s very impressive
You should make DogDay next, he's also from the third chapter and is cut in half, with some of his plush/organs interior visible. Would go HARD as a halloween decoration
Seeing the little sphinx cat kneading the purple fuzz absolutely made my day! On a side note the back movement makes it look like he's breathing, which is such a creepy detail for a toy that (from what I understand) has a loving person in them
I need to know the little kitty's name, he is so cute! ^w^ I know a lot of people think Sphynx cats look odd but I love how much like little gremlins they look.
They could make a mini version of catnap and give it to a lucky fan but that would take quite a while and I'm guessing they'd want to move onto another project
To be honest your builds are so simple that it makes it easier to move and look cool. This animatronic is much more fluid then some at Disney land! Disney has such complex animations making them less fluid. It seems like simple things are better then complicated ones. (Edit) woah I’ve ever gotten more than two likes. Thank you. {second edit} My god. I would never dream of getting so many likes, and a comment, not to mention it being by the creators themselves! I’m crying in happiness
in a way, i really think the visible seams only add to this. catnap (along with the other characters in the series) is literally a toy-turned-monster, it only makes sense for there to still be a bit of that 'toy' aspect still present visually
How did you start out obtaining and learning what tools and materials to use for certain projects? For someone who isn't close to being able to afford an airbrush kit let alone a 3D printer, do you have any advice for starting out?
I’m blown away by how AMAZING this CatNap animatronic is. You two are simply spectacular when it comes to making your own animatronics. Jay, Jaimie, you two are just amazing at what you do, and as a fan of your channel and work, you literally make dreams come true!
I keep going back to this because to me what makes this animatronic work so well is the ANIMATION. It is VERY hard to make physical beings, catered or not, to actually move like their animated counterparts. The animator part of me is losing SPECIFICALLY over the really subtle movements like in the back, and the slight ways the head cocks while turning, it's extremely impressive. I know my comment is just a drop in the bucket of everyone saying similar things but I wanted to express that from an ANIMATION VIEWPOINT this is especially fantastic.
I love how this animatronic incorporated so many little things from your previous projects! You're always finding ways to improve on something and take every new creation to the next level. I love the way you accentuated his bones, it looks SO good. The muppet stitching is also massively impressive. And the motion you gave him is genuinely unnerving... while it really does look like an idle animation in a video game, it also looks incredibly organic and subtle enough where it feels like I'm looking at something that is legitimately alive and breathing. It's super uncanny! Fantastic video as always, guys.

I'm honestly blown away by this. It looks better than professional. You guys are really inspiring. Your creations have been fanastic from the beginning, but the extent to which you've added and honed skills over time is shocking. 3D printing, electronics, robotics engineering, upholstery… and the level of painting and sculpting is absolutely world-class. I gasped when I saw that fully sculpted head. I don't even know this game or character, but I love this animatronic so much. Last point: the motion is so fluid and natural, and the breathing effect gives it so much life. I wish haunted attractions and theme parks had animatronics that moved like this.
with the fog and animation used for this makes me get this unsettling feeling, it’s especially because CatNap looks like he’s breathing, his soulless black eyes with small little white pupils don’t make CatNap look any friendlier. Good work, guys !

Very smart choice! The whole thing turned out pretty damn awesome, guys, well done!

OMG THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS! 😭😭😭 Currently making a CatNap cosplay that has the stilts for your arms and legs. If the costume stood up i'd say its about 10-9 feet tall. You guys inspired me!
20:57 Honestly, that Catnap looks scary with the wires on his eyes and mouth. Maybe it gives us lore of how he looked like when he was a scary Animatronic back in Playtime Co.
They should make him have a touchpad or something like that, and make him look like the other spirit of Halloween and animatronics that shows him on top of the wall or something
Maybe a helpful tip, if you ever have a huge chunk of foam that’s too heavy, (like the head in this case) you can use the same technique a clay sculpture will use before firing their piece. Cut it in half and hollow it out, then rejoin the two pieces! Makes it waaaay lighter and easier to attach to pieces ☺️ Love your work so much

Imagine their daughter showing a friend all of those robots to her friends someday! Incredible parents yall ❤
Then the friends will be jealous
20:57 Honestly, that Catnap looks scary with the wires on his eyes and mouth.
Maybe it gives us lore of how he looked like when he was a scary Animatronic back in Playtime Co.
Thanks!
🤘🏼😄
Omg now you HAVE to make a DogDay animatronic too!!! This is so amazing
YESSS 👏
I would love to see that
They should make him have a touchpad or something like that, and make him look like the other spirit of Halloween and animatronics that shows him on top of the wall or something
Yessss
Yes
Maybe a helpful tip, if you ever have a huge chunk of foam that’s too heavy, (like the head in this case) you can use the same technique a clay sculpture will use before firing their piece. Cut it in half and hollow it out, then rejoin the two pieces! Makes it waaaay lighter and easier to attach to pieces ☺️ Love your work so much
This is a GREAT IDEA
10:38 the glass "no rest for the wicked" good job on all the hard work wicked makers

This CatNap animatronic is super incredible, and I also love that CatNap can exhale red smoke out of his mouth, well done.
This would make an awesome animatronic to display on your yard on Halloween!!
These guys are the animatronic-builder versions of Mythbusters. We’ve got the same energy, the same walking through steps, and the same amazing results. Thank you so much for all of the work you do!

it's good if you like the frames going round like when you stand up the boys kind of coming up with them round bit that's good😊
7:49 yes! Catnap has been there for ten years, starved of most foods and having to eat pther toys to survive. This detail is so cool and you did a great job on it!
I’m so impressed! You guys killed it. I also think you guys should’ve built/decorated an area to properly display this master piece
This catnap is amazing!!! And i would LOOOOVE a dogday animatronic to go with catnap! Cuz he just looks SOOOO GOOD!
Imagine this during holloween, all the kids would either me fascinated or traumatized 😭
at the end it legit just looked like it was from the actual game itself. that's so beyond impressive. Great GREAT job on this
