Boost by throttle position is extremely clever. Not only does it dial in the insane amount of thrust to weight this whole setup can provide by how much you mash your right foot, but it should/can also protect against partial-throttle compressor surge if you ever (or rather, ever WOULD have) run into that problem. Partial throttle compressor surge can quickly destroy a turbo, contrary to off-throttle compressor surge (the flutter sound, or theatrical "dose" sound if you have a 10" or greater intake pipe between the turbo and the filter) which is relatively harmless in moderation, especially if you have a strong thrust bearing in your JB turbo, or a ball bearing turbo in general. Oh, speaking of flutter/dose, try disabling your BOV for a few minutes and listening to chipmunk noises coming from your turbo. The only reason it sounds like that instead of just an air flutter is BECAUSE you actually have a significant enough intake pipe. If you had a much large motor with a bigger turbo and a 3"+ diameter intake pipe it would sound like all those sterotypical Supra/Skyline videos. Most guys in the states don't know this and just run a pod filter or a mesh grill directly attached to the turbo and somehow don't notice that their flutter doesn't sound like the cool flutter until you show them a video of some Australians doing it right. THEY are the reason it's called a "dose pipe," they literally came up with the term and the application of it is common knowledge in their turbo builds.
Only on dirt gear tv do you hear comments like driving in the ditch is where LSD comes in handy lol
😂
You have done a lot to it since I sold it to you. That’s awesome man keep it up I like watching the progress.
Have been following for awhile now and the progress you've made is amazing!!
And to think this was terrifying to drive 2 years ago, you have made some damn good progress!
This makes me want to buy a mirage and do this to a car. This is great!
This is awesome you have done a great job on your buggy.
Thanks!
It sounds SO good!
Even better in person 😄
