Yess! It was a big day when I realized that often when I hear problems in the high end, it's because the low end is causing strange compressor behavior in the high end
All we ever wanted was to just see those old Joey Sturgis mixes. Nothing is more original that that TDWP Roots Above album mix, Of Mice, Stand up and Scream, Attack Attack, To Plant a Seed, Apologies are for the Weak… … Joey was doing something truely unique back then and even now days it seems Joey has lost that and is just mixing how everyone else mixes now. Show us those god tier Joey Albums. We want to see what really went down on those. Even if its just Pod farm guitars, and Slate drums… those are the albums that Joey grabbed everyones attention with. Show those clean metalcore fucking mixes for fucks sake. Its insane that this has been avoided all this time.
Speak for yourself, I would 100% rather see stuff like this with guys like Buster Odeholm, Tue Madsen, Daniel Bergstrand, Will Putney, or Lance Prenc over anything Joey Sturgis has ever done
If you go back and listen to that album and compare it to any Buster mix, it’s not even close….. Buster makes that sound amateur. The wide stereo separation, warm full punchy low end, and explosive drums and guitar is not even comparable
Personally I would never do this because it’s easy to lose perspective when you listen to only lows of only high frequencies but if it works for him its fine

Mind blown when I learned about this. Normally I use a fabfilter MB preset for three bands

What song is this?
labyrinthian by humanity's last breath
Metallica's Sad But True
Just joking, I'm sure that other guy is right.
Thanks!
