Searching for a quiet electric burr grinder that switches grind size easily and is great for both Espresso and French Press is proving to be a challenge? Fortunately details in your review such as running the Baratza has made clear that if noise isn’t at issue the Baratza is a great conical grinder . Thanks your review Nadia and Rob!
Rob i love the ESP myself and have had it now for almost 6 months. Hot tip as i keep my retention as low as possible. You mentioned use water which is great... i use the single dose hopper lid as a bellows i do about 5-6 quick pumps. I actually grind all my doses in the bigger hopper and then using the Aeropress funnel i put that over the single dose cup works perfectly minimizing waste. It also helps shake up the grinds so you dont have to wdt.
@@NadiaandRob it comes in handy for several uses... If your filling a jar with grinds so you don't create a mess. It's sad they took the funnel out on the newer models they will never know the usefulness.
first, thank you very much for this channel and the amazing work. I bought the Robot based on the idea it self but your review was a major factor that led me to the decision. and I love it. I was using a cheap grinder that makes super fine coffee and very coarse ground but the diel was not accurate. so I bought the BARATZA ESP two months ago. My issue was on the finest setting the coffee is not enough to make espresso on the Robot ( the pressure doesnt even reach 2)! not sure what is wrong but I went back to my cheap grinder.
Hi @eliqio. Glad you love your Robot! It sounds like the problem with the ESP Grindr may be missing shims under the bottom burr. Take off the top burr, then loosen the nut on the bottom burr and pull it out. There’s a plastic paddle wheel, then a felt collar and metal shims. There should be 6 shims under the burr. You can buy extra shims to add, which will raise the bottom burr and make for a finer grind. If you wind the adjustment all the way down to the first mark (all the way to the left, you should just hear the burrs touching… they give off a slight chirping sound. That’s as fine as any set of burrs can go. If they’re not going all the way, then you might want to insert an extra shim or two. That should get you to a grind that’s finer than what you can push through with the robot. Hope that helps! Let us know
That worked. Thank you so much.. I was about to give it away but now it is back to my coffee corner. not sure how many shims was there originally but I added two that were in the box (glad I didnt through that) and now the burrs touch at the 4 sitting. again, thank you so much for this channel @@NadiaandRob
Excellent video as ever! Thank you for the recommendation, I'm currently using a Fellow Ode and a 1Zprezzo. The Ode has some challenges with dark roast grind retention, how's the ESP's flow through and cleaning?
We haven't noticed any big retention with any beans. The flow through is pretty direct. Cleaning is very simple... easy access. Overall it's an easy grinder to use and maintain.
Hi. Great video. Can I ask you a question about kinu m47 and baratza esp? In blind test can you understand any deference about 1 espresso from kinu and 1 from esp? Sorry for bad English I am from Greece.
Hi @petv We haven't done a blind tasting, but we go back and forth between them fairly regularely and neither of us have noticed a taste difference. If we get some free time we'll post a head to head test.
@@NadiaandRob thanks. I have a robot and I want buy a better grinder and I am between kinu m47 phinix and baratza esp. I prefer baratza because is electric but I haven't find any comparison between kinu m47 and baratza esp. Because robots dose vary from 14 to 24 grams I believe the baratza step is not a problem and my inderest is only the taste. If the taste is similar I believe baratza is better for me. Thanks again for your time

Nice idea with the Aeropress funnel!

@@petv1551 We've been very happy with the flavor from the Baratza ESP, so if that works for you, go for it!
Hi, Have you tried making nitro coffee yet? Thanks
