Absolutely gorgeous! Yes, it is therapeutic and I think your example of the enjoyment you take in flowers is calming and rejuvenating, Plus, I can smell the lavender from here! Thanks for using your mesh mechanic so regularly--I feel better about all of us using less foam. Gorgeous.
Thank you Lynne - the lavender does smell just gorgeous and makes a good cut flower addition. The wire blocks are good - and his one did just as good a job for this design. 🌼🌼🌼
Another beautiful arrangement John. Love it.😊😊 In one of my classes many years ago we were making a downward curved item and we had to "manipulate" greenery and flowers so they would curve down. I used pittosporum from home and my teacher said I had done an excellent job of manipulating the branches and they hadn't snapped. I did own up that the tree had bent stems and they curved naturally. We all had a good laugh during the lesson that I had mastered the "art of manipulation" - a credit to her teaching.😅😅
Thank you so much 😊 you did spot the right material then! That’s a good skill to have and it puts you on the right foot straight away when creating. I was taught ‘lol at your material, what is it wanting to do, or how foes it sit - then go in with that!
Oh John , i absolutely loved this arrangement, using the " brick" is great. and also using whatever flowers you have in your garden. Very natural Thank you again. waiting for next week.
This arrangement is so wonderful! It makes me want a flower garden again! I like the way you made use of the wire "brick" which seems to have worked quite well, John. The variety of flowers is what really makes this one interesting. With you, I think the trachelium is quite unique and provides a point of interest. Thank you, John! Hope your week is off to a good start!
Thank you so much 😊 the mechanic is really good - having that consistently in the framework is better than scrunched up chicken wire I find. The last time I used chicken wire I folded it to create a better structure to rather than scrunching and that helped as well. I am lucky having the garden - was in it today but trying to avoid the mosquitos! 😀 Hope you have a great week too! 🌼
WOW!!! Gorgeous, John! I'm going to go out to my garden and collect a bunch of whatever I have and try to create something! I have some of the same plants as you, such as mock orange, smoke bush, roses, lambs ear blooms, ferns and hostas. You always inspire me! Thank you!
Fabulous John. A beautiful arrangement made without foam. I hardly ever use oasis these days so I found this really interesting. I’m definitely going to make one of your wire bricks! Thank you for sharing. X
Have you heard of Oshun pouch? It’s a compostable, environmentally friendly foam alternative. It’s more expensive than foam and it can’t be cut to make smaller pieces, but it’s a great alternative in a number of situations.
I had never heard of it 😮 just looked it up and it looks very interesting - hopefully it will be available outside the US and Canada soon so we can try it. The more alternatives the better and they will all improve as they are developed. Thank you for mentioning it 😀
Thank you 😊 it really depends on the basket as to what it will accommodate - so for a low flat style you could use a mechanic like this, or in a deeper basket you could use a deeper dish with scrunched up wire - or make a block like this to fi4 the insert dish. But you could make a wire spiral holder, glass frog or scrunched up willow stems - but the main thing is finding an insert dish to hold water 💦
That’s a tricky one - it will slosh, so it depends on how far it needs to travel. I would empty most out then move to where it needs to be, then top up the dish with water in situ. 😊
Thank you 😊 you can use floral foam, but at present this breaks down into micro plastics and enter the water and eco system - so while floral foam does a great job, it isn’t good for all life on the plant ( enters water supply the. Gets into food chain, hen ultimately into us ). So until the foam suppliers can find a recipe that isn’t plastic based then this problem exists. I’m not against foam - hopefully they find a good solution that fits the commercial floristry requirements. But it’s good to look at different options and know how to use them - then you are never stuck 😀
Beautiful arrangement. Very therapeutic to watch!
Thank you 😊
Spectacular as always!

Very interesting and different
Thank you 😊 🌼
❤thanks John 😊
I appreciate that the wire brick is reusable. Inspires me to repurpose a little wire basket some hand soap came in.
That’s a good idea - it’s seeing the possibilities in any material 😀
That is so great! I love it and the length is wonderful. I wish I had a long table so that I could do long arrangments.
Thank you 😊 yes, it’s achievable to go long - just depends on if you have the right space and then the materials 😀🌼
Nice arrangement. I would have preferred you making a Mediterranean baked fish video because of the dish. Lol
Thank you 😂 good at flowers - hopefully / good at cooking - not so sure
Fabulous John. A beautiful arrangement made without foam. I hardly ever use oasis these days so I found this really interesting. I’m definitely going to make one of your wire bricks! Thank you for sharing. X

Beautiful and aromatic foliage combo. Could you substitute Queen Anne’s Lace for the allium? Love the deep purple flower! ❤
bery nice and beauty

Absolutely gorgeous, so beautiful. I have a question John, how would you make a foam free flower basket? 😊
Thank you for all the education you have given us. How would you transport without the water sloshing out?
That’s a tricky one - it will slosh, so it depends on how far it needs to travel. I would empty most out then move to where it needs to be, then top up the dish with water in situ. 😊
Love the design elements, John. Is the tracheleum dyed or grows that color?
Thank you 😊 this is its colour - it can come in white and pale blue as well 😀
Very very beautiful. If I may ask, why don't you use a sponge to hold water?
Thank you.
Thank you 😊 you can use floral foam, but at present this breaks down into micro plastics and enter the water and eco system - so while floral foam does a great job, it isn’t good for all life on the plant ( enters water supply the. Gets into food chain, hen ultimately into us ).
