lovely to watch you working again John. I love Eustoma, but haven't seen in in the shops for a few months! Not sure why. The arrangement/design is lovely, so many different material you've used. Carnations are a lovely flower, but alas the grocery shops here (as you probably know) just don't have them. You might find one or two in a bouquet. One beautiful arrangement, thank you.
Thank you so much 😊 that’s interesting that you haven’t seen eustoma or carnations much - and it’s a shame as both great flowers to use. This eustoma was very nice quality.
Hi John! You have created my most favorite design of all - a large, all-around, hotel entry typle arrangement. This one is glorious, and so natural in composition. Thank you! I hope you are doing well and that the garden will continue to provide materials for you for a few weeks to come! Have a great week!
That is good 😊 I think these are a favorite for me too - the hotel lobby type design. It lets me go big, and all round is ideal for a central setting. Yes, summer continues - I am ready for the weather to change though 😀 Have a great week!
Thanks again John - most beautiful arrangement. I love the combination of flowers you have used, looks like you are hanging onto the summer. I am certainly going to try the wire bricks, working with church flowers most of the time, this will help with saving on limited funding.
Gorgeous !! Gorgeous !! I absolutely love this arrangement...simple ..easy. Love carnations..Lizzies...Might as well say " love all flowers ". A beautiful large arrangement and I would certainly be very happy to receive one. Thankyou for bringing these creative and beautiful suggestions.
I love these carnations too!!! Its sad that they are not used very often nowadays. Amazing job again! I think that this arrangement would be nice for a wedding as well.
I just had a young 20s have me use burgundy and white carnations, along with roses and mum's for her bridal bouquet. Same burgundy mum's and carnations went on the tables ,too. She could have afforded/ ordered anything. She ,and mom backing her, were very particular once I made a mock bouquet. They also wanted seeded eucalyptus and ferns and greenery I used in the mock bouquet from my Florida backyard for her bridal bouquet. It came out great. Carnations are here to stay!
@@lindaanderson1016 that’s cool - people should order what they like / want and not worry about what others think. Though it helps if cost isn’t a problem with any choice 😀
@@FlowerJoosThe flower ladies at my church won’t allow anyone else to ‘ have a go’ they stand shoulder to shoulder in front of the flower room door protecting like the Crown Jewels 😂
@@puffypuff9779 just wait - the opportunity will come - maybe a flower festival or event 😊 or ask them to show you how they make them - that approach might work? Pick the nicest one 😀
It's nice to have "traditional" sometimes to go back to basics--especially because you're using your mesh bricks. As usual, the foliage is beautiful all on its own!!
I absolutely love love love this arrangement, the container is amazing, the choice of flowers, just the whole thing. I love this sort of design. And you make it look so easy. I really must get on and make some of those wire blocks. Thank you 🙏
Thank you so much 😊 the first wire block is a bit of a learning curve but they get easier - so worth making say 5 different versions ( one of which could be the dimensions of a standard foam block maybe - or 2/3 long? ). But - have fun and then fun creating with flowers! 😀🌼
You mentioned the wire block is great because it’s lightweight so transferring arrangements is easier (I’ve worked with foam so I get that - foam arrangements get HEAVY), but I was wondering have you ever had an issue with the wire blocks tipping or falling when you put the weight of flowers in them? I want to make my own wire block(s) and was curious if that’s ever an issue. Another beautiful arrangement!
Thank you - that’s a good question . With an all round design then it is physically balanced more compared to a front facing design, but the best idea is to wedge the brick into the container - or secure it with tape - and as long as the base has a bit of weight ( container and water ) then the design is pretty stable. It depends if you are transporting the design or just moving from one room to another. Transporting designs is a skill in itself!
Hi John, thanks for this, so inspirational, especially as I've got to make a large arrangement for Christmas. Quick question, what gauge wire do you use for the 'bricks', and how large do the squares need to be for larger stems? I'm having difficulty sourcing the right size/weight mesh in the UK. Thanks
@@fc5zw hello! The size of the mesh squares are 2cm x 2 cm - and I found a plastic coated version with is ideal if you can find this. I’m not sure what weight it is % but it’s reasonably flexible with enough strength to hold its shape. Hope that helps 😊
I always call the white with red ends carnations " vintage carnations ". Limonium is one of my favorite "airy flying around" flower. And i LoVe ivy! It stands tall and gives forest vibes. The arrangement is excellent as always!! The only thing that im not personally into is the gladiolas leafs. But thats just me not liking this style of leafage 😅
Thank you 😊 I understand your thought with the gladiolus - it’s nice with or without! I must try a design without a tall centre core - then the overall design will be a little softer maybe 🤔 🌸🌸🌸
Thank you - you can just make them - all you need is wire cutters and a roll of grid wire ( ideally plastic coated ).😀 The first one is the hardest then they are easy! Use the edge of a table to get a nice fold on the corners!
This is one question that’s impossible to answer with a definite value as something like this could range in price a lot. Factors such as tone of year, wholesale prices, your competitors, your markup formula, Labour, what your customers will pay all come into play. But it’s a high value item due to the number of stems. Sorry that’s not specific 🌼
