- Erwan Heussaff is out on the road again and this time he is driving the 8 hours to Bicol. In true Going Coastal fashion, we’re making a few stops along the way to Region V, as we taste our way through a macapuno farm, eat some chami in Quezon, and try savory Bicolano delicacies like kinunot, pork igado, and laing in a secret farm escape in Camarines Norte. Let’s go!

When it comes to costal road Bicol region is just on another level. Did a trip last April to Catanduanes, the province's coastal road are just insane! It's like Batanes! That was worth it every last bit of it.

OMG Thank you for showcasing BICOL! I miss my province! I'm from Daet, I can't wait to see the next part. Kinunot is one of my fave bikolano dish :)
I tasted different kinds of chami which is sometimes dry and sometimes a bit thick n soupy. Lucena chami is mostly sweet. There is this chami at malvar batangas infront of the munisipyo which is also simply good.
I remember eating freshly harvested macapuno and waiting with our spoon while it was being partially de husked to reveal the eye and cracking the coconut in two. Waiting in excitement for the verdict if the coconut surprise will be a mature one good for gata only (sometimes having that all so good embryo or coconut apples called buha/buwa) or an immature one will be good for making ice buko candy and the very rare surprise of getting macapuno. If we get macapuno, there's boiled ube waiting to pair it with or if we also had fresh langka which was the crowning glory in our palate. That was a buzz of flavor in the mouth. 💕
You can also buy dwarf macapuno tree at UPLB btw. There's this addictive macapuno candy in San Pablo sold by Diding's. Jos mio marimar you gotta try that.
Atleast you got decent food in Sta.Elena. Some places are still no man's land for tech and getting lost is a welcome if you are adventurous. Can't wait to see your next vid. Meanwhile my husband will also take me to the North. Two tanders in an adventure ✌🏻. Cheers!

What a wonderful trip so far. The farm resort was amazing but driving there at night in rainy weather would have been a bit suspenseful to me 😁
