Great video, very clear with good pointers along the way. I usually clean the area around the part being taken off. That makes sure the surfaces are mostly clean before installation of the new part.
Great video thankyou! I am about to change mine because my reservoir tank got a bit crack, and so I changed that but now the car has a problem with overheating after ~5km. Does changing the thermostat seem appropriate?
My thermostat failed being open. In that case it took a long time for the engine to warm up during the winter months. But other than that I did not notice a difference.
Bad mileage as well because the engine does not warm. My thermostat needs replacing right now and in the winter last year my gas mileage dropped compared to other years.
The Mazda 3 and 5 share basically the same engine and parts. This type of code, is rarely seen in summer or hot temps, but once the weather cools off, it can show up. Usually its the thermostat failing to close fully, other times it can be the coolant temperature sensor is bad or simply out of range. It is CRITICAL to resolve this code! The Mazda 3 and 5 both have oil and transmission coolers that use radiator coolant to regulate their temperature. Also, usually on many later models, the throttle body is also heated by the radiator coolant, to prevent freeze or lockup in the winter. Also, if the engine runs too cool, you can have carbon build up in the engine since the engine is not at the proper running temperature to prevent it. When this code (P0126) is thrown its a good time to inspect all of your coolant hoses and parts in your coolant system and make repairs. On my Mazda 5 I found the oil cooler was leaking oil due to a bad seal, the bypass hose was at end of life, and replaced the TStAT and several radiator connecting hoses. Would have done more, but Mazda International uses a lot of pre formed hoses, a lot of which are just not in stock. Mazda has been terrible about parts availability for all of the custom hoses they have wrapped around the engine bay during and after the "Pandemic".
Jesus H Christ people, when making videos and discussing a very common model like a Mazda 3 that has been in production for a long time, PLEASE mention what year model you are talking about.. trim level also may be helpful. If you don't mention this information prominently you are cumulatively wasting massive amounts of people's time looking for the right information. They could also follow the tutorial and get stuck halfway through because something is a little different for their year model.
This is how a tutorial should be done. Nice step by step progress without a lot of wasted talk.
He failed to mention what year model he is working on, that's a major fail from the beginning.
When refilling coolant just make sure to set your heat to hot and blower on so get all air bubbles out.
Thanks big time I'm glad I saw your comment.

Looks easy enough for me to work on it myself. Thank you for the video!
+Pink Penguin you're welcome. God luck with the repair!
MegaSafetyFirst I'll do my best 😉. Thx again!
A whole lot better the other video I saw. Great job
Thank you, I appreciate your feedback!
Good video. Covered all points well. I appreciate that.
Awesome video. Super informative and great filming. Thank you sir!
Glad to hear! Thank you for your feedback 👍
Thank you for this great video...
that was super simple! great! ....so no antifreeze directly intot the radiator? i suppose this model car does not have a radiator cap
Great video thankyou!

Does changing the thermostat seem appropriate?
How did that work out ?
Will you notice a change in engine performance with a faulty/bad thermostat?

What problems will you encounter if you decide not to replace your tomostart
@@joegrind4109poor interior heating, drop in fuel mileage, increased engine carbon buildup, increased engine wear
...Stop Leak (piston Ring) additives and haven’t noticed a difference. Any help or advice would be great. Namaste, Nathan in Victoria. 😉🙏
Is this for the 2.0 liter? I have a 2012 non sky 2.0 liter
Thanks for the video. I Did mine today :)
Would a open thermostat effect my ecu to not shift properly and my car only drives when it has warmed up
cool video
Will be doing the pump soon. Might as well do this too.
Was able to change , check engine light still on but runs normal now , no leaks, do I have to drive so many miles before computer will reset
That is normal behavior.
The light will turn off after a couple of ignition cycles.
@@MegaSafetyFirst I’ve driven 130 miles already since repair 4 days ago
@@clicknshopbiz any updates? Have the same issue
I got the same problem
Anyone know what the top (smaller) hose on thermostat is called ? I know the bigger is the lower.
The top hose is called the "water hose" in the 2010 Mazda3 workshop manual. You are correct that the lower hose is called the "lower radiator hose".
Awesome video, thanks so much!
Why did you replace it? Was it just from the engine code? Any symptom?
The valve was stuck in the open position, so the engine would take much longer than usual to warm up.

What's the sound track near the ending of the video?
great video man well done thx
Thank-you I did it in an hour
👍🏻❤️
Nice video, I suggest Milwaukee 3/8 electric impact ratchet.
Make sure to bleed the cooling system 👍
where can i find the replacement part?
This is where I got it from Amazon:

Make sure it fits your model year - I am not sure if there are differences.
thank you
Torque values of the tensioner and thermostat bolts?
Those values should be part of the he video.

Sorry i didn't understood, how many inches pound for the screws from thermostat?
It’s 89 inch pound.

very cool video all of them. Larry RSA
What are the hoses connected to the thermostat assembly called?
They are referred to as radiator hoses.
One is the lower and I think the top one on thermostat is a bypass
@@brianb3877 Thanks, Brian! I had to replace the big one last year. If anyone has the same issue, the part number was LF50-15-186G hose, water.
