    I really like the tensioner tool you made. Great idea. The 41mm socket i have seen people sand or machine the outside of the socket smaller. I have also seen people shorten sockets because a lot of scokets have a large chamfer at the opening end. That chamfer reduces how much of the socket is tuching the sides of the nut. especially on nuts that are very stubby like steering wheel retaining nuts and this one. Looking forward to the GTV re-assembly videos.

    I remember tensioning the belt was a pain when I did it, even though I had a tool made for it.
    One thing though that I overlooked, I only took out plug 1. I should have removed all 6 plugs to take away the compression and make it easier to find top dead center. I got it right though, it was just more fiddling to get there.
    Still, I'll be a lot quicker the next time I do it since I know how now.
    And. I know it shouldn't be necessary to replace the waterpump every cambelt change but I'm gonna do it anyway. I was lucky that my pump started to fail just weeks before I was gonna do the change. Imagine it fails just a short while after the change, you'll have to do it all over again then. That extra cost is worth not having to redo the entire process.

    Hello! I need your advice. There is an Alfa Romeo 3.0 V6 24v crankshaft. It is in excellent condition, polished, as the liner stuck. But there is a major flaw. On one main neck, 2 halos, deep corrosion, it is not clear from moisture or the consequences of a wound liner. Perhaps the first repair +0.25 will block. moreover, one round halo with a diameter of 4 mm is located on the edge of the liner, literally 2-3 mm enters the working area, the second in the form of a canal 2 mm wide and 8 mm long along an oblique 45" axis is located in the working area of the liner (the width of the liner is 21 mm, with oil groove around), and over the entire plane there is no through channel to the outside, i.e. pressure will not bleed.
    the thing is that grinding the shaft is not provided. the manual says that the necks are nitrided, if damaged, change the crankshaft. According to the original, there are 3 groups of liners, and according to Glycco, the standard is +0.25.
    And now here's the dilemma. leave as is, grind at +0.25 in the hope that the corrosion will come off, but we lose the coating of the necks. or look for a rare boo knee, which is quite problematic ...

    Hi I have rebuilt my 2.5 v6 engine heads after a cambelt failure. I followed you engine rebuild video. The engine starts and idles ok but does not rev as freely as before, I have only rev it to about 4,00 rpm. Any idea why could it just be a air leak somewhere?.

    How much Power have the last Tool? For the pulley

  • @155stw
    @155stw 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Actually how do you deal with a stuck pulley on the rear bank when the engine is in the car. A bloody nightmare I’d guess. I’m talking about if the cam timing is a wee bit off and the pulley needs to be adjusted in relation to the cam. Sometimes the generic 3 arm puller doesn’t work. Had one bad experience with that situation.resorted to a press, but cam had to come out of the heads. Luckily the 24v in my case is in a 75 so I have more room to work with. Do you have a factory tool for the puller? Some videos just shows how a slight tap and the pulley pops off, from my experience that’s just bollocks.
