This kind of grading variance in manual grading companies is the reason why this industry needs to move in the direction where everything is programmatically graded by AI. That would make it more fair overall and none of this “re-grading” bs. It would significantly reduce the variance relative to manually having cards graded by people. I think the tcg grading industry will eventually go this direction and it will eventually become the norm. If PSA/BGS/CGC/etc don’t adopt this forward thinking I think they will eventually be de-throned in the industry by AI grading companies. Choose to believe it or not but come back to this comment in 5 years and tell me I was right.

At this point, grading is just a scam that puts more value on the plastic than the card inside. And the fact only a psa 10 matters for modern now just means it's preying on people's psychological need for perfection even if the difference between a 9 and a 10 is just 1%
The thing about regrading is that if your card condition is similar between two different grades you either gonna one of the two grades if it is exactly the grade condition itself then there is no point regrading it.
what I've come to put together its a price thing. If a card only has a few PSA 10s out there or is worth big money its heavily inspected but modern and lesser cost cards i feel get away with ALOT
@@TheUchadbro seems to be random in my experience. I have gotten PSA 10s pop 1 of cards in bulk. And I've gotten $500+ value cards with less than 100 10's. I think there are many ways to look at it but until we get a PSA grader interview there will always be speculation.
Just send them to Beckett or CGC instead. They are much lenier when it comes to lower grade vintage cards. They will give those some substantial upgrade from those poor grades.

Psa should not be the golden standard. Hell the fact that i cant grade my cards because i live in europe should abolish that reputation alone. Or at least the prices should not be as high for their slabs here because it makes no sense. Thats like steam being the best platform for pc gaming but you can only use it outside the us if you have north vpn or some other bull its beyond stupid.
PSA is the standard because it's been around for the longest and it's used widely throughout USA. There's no other grading company that even comes close. I know it does suck having to go through so many more hoops to grade with em and get your cards back if you're in a different country.
From the videos I watched when people do this just shows me not to trust PSA due to a 6 can go to an 8 but a 8 sent in comes back a 5 shows me that PSA is just a toss up and not following any actual standards...Not saying this video but ones I have watched.
@firstxo261 there are actually PSA 1 collectors that would pay more for PSA 1s because sometimes they are harder to get. Not many ppl grade beat up cards
