@@vouzenthal I'm really curious what the perfect relation between grip - mass - slope and torque would be in this case. In some situations you are much better off with a light vehicle, but not too light. My father always boasts how he used to drive up an icy road with a Citroen 2CV riding partly in the ditch, while all other larger cars were stalled, to give an example. My guess is as soon as things start being icy, a large mass becomes a bigger factor.

It also probably has brake controlled limited slip differential however the rims are way oversized with equally small tires which for this reason are too stiff and have a small grip surface as well and we haven't even mentioned whether they are snow tires at all or not. Ideally it should have had smaller rims with taller tires allowing for low pressure resulting in a longer grip surface. Yes, longer. Lot of people think low pressure gives you wider tracks, which is true but more importantly the tire becomes more flat and you can get a significant increase in grip surface length. Also the land rovers large body allows for a lot larger diameter tires which again increase grip surface length potential. Add some weight and you are good to go :) If you ever get stuck in snow with no help, you can always try to decrease your tire pressure
It's not the car but the driver! 👍 (I had a similar experience with a 4x4 driver just halting on a steep hill and I was behind him on a Fiat 500 (Not X). Just beeped and passed him before my brakes and clutch burnt!!! failed!
