- Rodtang Jitmuangnon secured the greatest prize of his storied career when he dethroned British phenom Jonathan Haggerty to claim the ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Title at ONE: DAWN OF HEROES. After a slow start in the first two rounds, “Iron Man” picked up the pace in the remaining frames, unleashing an unstoppable barrage of punches that culminated in a big knockdown in the fourth round. By the end of the final frame, the result was left in the hands of the judges, who awarded Rodtang the unanimous decision victory.

Man I love the confident (sometimes cocky) yet still respectful demeanor many of these Muay Thai fighters. It's the perfect balance of showboating and sportsmanship.

Let’s also not forget that he asked for rodtang because he wanted to defend against the best rather than sit on the victory he had before.This kid is amazing and has just started.

As soon as Rodtang took that head kick at the start of round 3 (@8:39) he came online. It was like it woke him up lol.
Unfortunately I think a lot of their tempo is culturally built in. Thais typically always ramp up rounds 3 and 4.
@@MichaelLe396 Yeah I know the Thai pace. Early rounds are for sizing up, later rounds for executing their game plan. I just thought it was funny that he noticeably picked up the pace and increased pressure after receiving that head kick.

One of the best fights I’ve ever seen. Rodtang is a pure agressive and strong fighter, Haggerty is particularly fast and accurate.

Beautiful fight, Haggerty was fast and accurate with the teeps and Rodtang a power house with those punches, both fighters was awesome to watch. In the end, Rodtang was completely humbled by that win.. Congratulations!
I watched this Live in Arena. This is my favorite bout in Dawn of Heroes! Haggerty Managed the 1st 2 rounds by throwing some good push kicks and leg kicks. But Rodtang is really tough and His kicks in the legs are very devastating, his punches to the body and combo are landing well, you can even see Haggerty knocked down and crunched when he got punched to the liver. Round 3-5 Haggerty kept on back pedaling because the kicks and combos of Rodtang are well calculated. Overall, Haggerty did a real great Job! But the Iron Man, is really made of iron his toughness and aggressiveness made Haggerty think of standing toe-to-toe or to back pedal and to counter instead.
Congrats to my Favorite Fighter of the night. Also to Haggerty!

One championship is so awesome. But it's hard to watch live because I work at 6am on Fridays. So I am sleeping during the events. I end up watching the replay. But nothing beats live.

@@Lolife86 you can't tell. Rodtang earning more matches can also lead to much better improvement since he can use his experiences to make himself even better in the ring (unless if he has developing injuries).
THIS BOUT ALONE is why I love the art and sport that is Muay Thai. Sheer brutality, but class and elegance in this art form presented at its best by both these young men.

Rodtang has a disavandtage on the outside and seem Haggerty work very well using his range.
However The speciality of Rodtang is he can deny damage even it cleary hit (Rodtang = Tank (in Thai)) and that insult his oppent to striker him more.
and I think that make Haggerty fall into Rodtang game you can see he trade mid and close range weapon and Rodtang really good at that.
After he was khocked down, I think he realize that Oh I mess up with the plan and He can calm down and compose fast enough to comback.
In the end Haggerty is a good Muay Thai fighter he know how to use his strengh and get the point. but Fighting with Rodtang is too musch fun to resist almost everytime every one want to box him down like crazy and I think Rodtang also love that.
For Haggerty. If he train knee he may score more. but I think he choose his kick as his main. So if he improve his kick and punch. he will be more dangerous for sure.

Good analysis. Once Rodtang began to pressure and close distance, Haggerty did not have an answer...Which is why he began running away. If Haggerty trains his knee, he will have a mid-range weapon to keep his opponent from advancing.
The experience is way different between these two. Haggerty only has 20 fights and is already fighting rodtang. Rodtang apparently has fought 100's of time's. I'd hate to look at a CT scan of alot of these young thais that have been fighting before the brain has fully developed. It would probably be shocking. I know it's tradition but I wouldn't be letting my child get kicked/punched in the head before his brain has fully developed. You'll be 25 with the brain of a 80 year old man.
