I live in a place with real winter and I don’t have a rear wiper and I’ve never noticed until this video. I scrap my rear window before driving and I’ve never had any issues driving in the snow!
Many newly designed cross overs, hatche backs, and mini uts have stepped away from "upright rear glass", as those definitely need wipers. Slanted rear glass effectively helps to make rear windows more aero dynamic, less likely to build up road splash back grime, eliminating need for wipers. A rear defroster is best for iced rear glass as you never needed wipers on a sedan.

Problem with the rear wiper blade was motorists complaint when they took their vehicle to a full service automated Car Wash that it got damaged in the Car Wash Spining Brush. Now if the Buick Envista had a brow at the top of the rear window that could conceal a rear wiper beneath, it would prevent the wiper arm being exposed over the rear window. Perhaps if the rear window is treated with rainx on a clear day, it might make it easier to repell rain from the surface of the glass, thus increasing visability. Long ago, I remember some cars had a stylish black vented rear window cover which reduced glare and rain drops; gave the driver increased visabilty. I also saw it on the Lotus Europa. Gave the car an armoured mad max style. Also reduced interior overheating when the car is parked exposed to direct sun light.
People who know nothing about engines or the mechanicals of an automobile won't care, because they don't understand that a 3 cylinder engine is a bad design, inherently unbalanced, and will work extra hard powering this vehicle, add the turbo which will stress the little mill even more, means the engine will have a short life.

I like the external looks of this. A compact SUV with a sporty coupe vibe like the Mazda CX-30. Seems to have more rear seat room than the CX-30 though, but shares a less usable cargo area due to the sloping tailgate . Comparing similar trim levels, I would definitely opt for the KIA Seltos which is better in every way,. Also the 2024 Hyundai Kona blows this away. No rear wiper on this is absolutely ridiculous, as well as no air vents in the rear seat. Not to mention it’s not AWD which is especially important to those of us that live in snowy regions. It may be slightly cheaper than the competition, but you sacrifice some pretty important features.
You're criticizing the rear window. I'm sure it has a rear defroster like all the sedans which should clean rain and snow. Considering sedans don't have rear wipers either and it works fine.
Saw an actual Envista on the road for the first time today. Almost the size of my Accord. Unfortunately, the driver appears to not care that it’s a 3-cylinder and floored it after crossing the intersection weaving in and out of traffic. Orange ST version.
Great looking compact suv but they need to put a 2.4 turbo in there. Less than 3200lb with 300hp in that design will get a lot of buyers. Upgrade the infotainment and add a bit better materials and charge 35-38k for it. They will have a huge hit.
I’d drive it in the ST trim 😊 not bad for a BUICK that’s not a Grand National or GNX 🤭 . The front end is giving Buick Skyhawk-ish the T-Type version ( with the pop up headlights ) to me
The exterior is fire! Saw it on the highway and had to look it up. Oh but the interior... it's very underwhelming!! We can appreciate the effort tho Buick. Great price point!
30 grand, hard plastic door tops, no rear ac vents, no led interior lighting, 9.2 seconds 0 to 60....cheap 3 cylinder engine...etc...etc...imagine what the bare bones model must be like !
I have not seen bezels that big on a screen since the iPhone 4. This vehicle is typical GM. They spent all the money trying to produce stylish vehicle, and then just threw a bunch of crap at it to make it hit a price point. The interior plastics are absolutely pathetically cheap. The infotainment/gauge cluster screen is laughable. Small displacement engine is going to be highly stressed, causing increased wear and shorter life expectancy. Considering this vehicle, as tested, is nearly $32,000, there are many better options out there. You can get a CX5, CX30 or HRV and be much better off.
@@scrungycat407 I agree - I test drove a Corolla Cross yesterday and the interior materials didn't seem much different from this - I haven't sat in one of these yet since my local dealer said they didn't have any in stock today but I'm holding out until they get one since I love the styling and want to see if it's nice in person, but I definitely wont be buying the $30k model like this one if I do pull the trigger... Is this some kind of joke? It should be called a Buick Investa where you have keep investing your money to make last for 5 years.
Buick has been rated as one of the top most reliable car makers ever for years so reliability isn't an issue. It's plenty fast off the line with the turbos. No lack of power here. I've been in hybrids like a Prius, they hesitate off the line so the Envista would not be smoked. The shifts are so smooth and quick and effortless it's about like an electric car.
They should have put their old 3.1 liter V6 in this car paired with a more modern transmission. The mileage wouldn't have been that bad around town and the thruway mileage would be about the same.
I hear all your gripes about material quality, crude graphics, hard plastics, the horn...totally agree, but this is a dirt cheap car produced by a premium brand. They obviously had to cut corners from bumper to bumper to get it to its dirt-cheap price point.
Nice car, but using the Avenir badge waters down the name. Avenir as originally for the nicest, most loaded Buicks. It was meant to differentiate models from the lower-tier Buicks.
considering how most people I know can't afford new cars, even the maverick doesn't really have any of the base models available to purchase in reality. that I can see this being the first Buick in a long time to have a decent amount of adoption. no longer something people would get actively if they know about it.
For cars, if I buy and keep it for long term run, the small 3 cylinders (1.2) engine isn’t in my list period. 2024 envista very stylist and affordable prices, but better go for lease then buy to keep, because this small 3 cylinders engine won’t last 100k miles even with top care maintenance 🤝🤝

People who know nothing about engines or the mechanicals of an automobile won't care, because they don't understand that a 3 cylinder engine is a bad design, inherently unbalanced, and will work extra hard powering this vehicle, add the turbo which will stress the little mill even more, means the engine will have a short life.
@@1958Cadillac-v2g i8 and the GR Yaris had a 3-cylinder for a while and it was fine
Drop the 2.0 turbo from the Envision in there and make a new trim for like $33k and you have a winner. The car looks very good
Even 1.5 turbo from the Equinox would be great.
@@00_UU i agree. use the 1.5 turbo and keep the price the same
33k is creeping out of the affordable range. if they can give us the 2.0 turbo and keep the price at 27k, that's a winner
Non of you are going to buy it so why would GM ever listen to you 😂
@@samiaziz2665 I would actually buy it if it had Bose.
Hows the sound system?
My concern about this car is how long will the motor and transmission last 😬
If you're impressed, then I'm impressed. That it has a multilink rear suspension is a nice surprise!!
Cross shopping this with my 98 Camry. It’s close but I really can’t give up the reliability or fuel economy of the Toyota.
Great styling and not bad for the $$ but the 3CYL is a buzz kill.
Just depends on where you drive. As a local driver just going around town, it’s fine
@DWK33 My town in between two three mountains lol I've got stone mountain Arabia mountain and Panola mountain not crazy altitudes but alot of long hills. Hope it has torque I'm going to test drive one next week.
@@TheBasher-_- Did you get one? I just test drove one today and actually liked it but didn't pull the trigger since the interest rate wasn't what I wanted.
Love it. I’m looking for a new SUV. Love the style and the price. I know these are going to fly off the dealership parking lots!
Definitely lot of car for the price. Wish it had a 4 cylinder.
If you compare the trax highest trim and this envista avenir, which one is a better buy?
You're criticizing the rear window. I'm sure it has a rear defroster like all the sedans which should clean rain and snow. Considering sedans don't have rear wipers either and it works fine.
Looks really nice and affordable.
Saw an actual Envista on the road for the first time today. Almost the size of my Accord. Unfortunately, the driver appears to not care that it’s a 3-cylinder and floored it after crossing the intersection weaving in and out of traffic. Orange ST version.
This thing looks great, but how is it slower than a 15 year old Prius and it has a turbo ?
Great looking compact suv but they need to put a 2.4 turbo in there. Less than 3200lb with 300hp in that design will get a lot of buyers. Upgrade the infotainment and add a bit better materials and charge 35-38k for it. They will have a huge hit.
14:10 So, it doesn't sound like you're grinding rags up there under the hood when you get on the accelerator?
I’d drive it in the ST trim 😊 not bad for a BUICK that’s not a Grand National or GNX 🤭 . The front end is giving Buick Skyhawk-ish the T-Type version ( with the pop up headlights ) to me
Beautiful Vehicle. If I Were To Get One, I'd Definitely Remove The Buick Lettering Badge. That'd Give It A Way Cleaner Look In The Back
Definitely. Be sure to beautify your cheap peace of shit. Lol
Shit is hard AF. Kinda looks like an urus mixes with a BMW and Aston Martin to me
The exterior is fire! Saw it on the highway and had to look it up. Oh but the interior... it's very underwhelming!! We can appreciate the effort tho Buick. Great price point!
Great video and info. thanx
@@aaronbaird9444 If you think the interior plastics on this thing are bad, wait until you sit in a Corolla Cross.
This seems like a good value at under $25k but not $30k.
Thanks for great reviews Sofian.
So you got really nice, I would say even premium looking taillights and then under them there are medieval turn signals… 😂
PS: that horn sound is awful. I’m really happy that you’re also showing horn sound in your review. I think your Chanel is the only one doing that.
I really really need them to drop this with a more powerful engine. It’s looks great.
performance version + awd pls
very nice looking car! I would totally get this as my next car, but the engine is a turnoff, should have had the 1.3 in the encore
They nailed the looks and seemingly the value quotient. I just don't know if I could handle 9.2 secs to 60 mph, lol.
I dont understand why people, including the gentleman in the video, and trying to find things “wrong” with this vehicle. For goodness sake it is under $30k and looks nice! In today’s economy, the consumer need to be grateful for what Buick just did.
You can't argue with the value that is represented here...when the average new car transaction is $45k+, cars like these should be flying of the lot.
Its a decent car for what it is. It looks and performs like a 25k car. I think its the perfect car for high school kids or college grads first vehicle,or the elderly on social security.
Can you comment on this vs the Kia sportage?
it is sticking with the price even with the new labor contract... looks great.
Is this some kind of joke? Who in their right mind would purchase this Buick Envista with a 3 cylinder,1.2L turbo charged engine that will most likely have a catastrophic engine failure just after the warranty expires. It should be called a Buick Investa where you have keep investing your money to make last for 5 years.
It is a nice looking car. I would have preferred a slightly smaller front grill and better info system inside. My concern is reliability. Cheers.
Not with that engine. A freaking Prius will smoke this thing. 😮
Buick has been rated as one of the top most reliable car makers ever for years so reliability isn't an issue. It's plenty fast off the line with the turbos. No lack of power here. I've been in hybrids like a Prius, they hesitate off the line so the Envista would not be smoked. The shifts are so smooth and quick and effortless it's about like an electric car.
beautiful styling
Honestly might get this after it gets an engine upgrade
That won't happen ~~ Buick is going total electric !
They should have put their old 3.1 liter V6 in this car paired with a more modern transmission. The mileage wouldn't have been that bad around town and the thruway mileage would be about the same.
What dealerships have this in stock?
I hear all your gripes about material quality, crude graphics, hard plastics, the horn...totally agree, but this is a dirt cheap car produced by a premium brand. They obviously had to cut corners from bumper to bumper to get it to its dirt-cheap price point.
Its a genuinely nice car. I'm impressed, not a fan of chevy stuff. But, good job on the design.
It's not a Chevy. Read the name of the title.
@@bigmacdaddy1234 rude! Lol
Nice car, but using the Avenir badge waters down the name. Avenir as originally for the nicest, most loaded Buicks. It was meant to differentiate models from the lower-tier Buicks.
It looks nice. The only thing I need is an automatic trans, sunroof and navigation.
To think the first car I owned had a 1.2L naturally aspirated engine almost 30 years ago.
considering how most people I know can't afford new cars, even the maverick doesn't really have any of the base models available to purchase in reality. that I can see this being the first Buick in a long time to have a decent amount of adoption. no longer something people would get actively if they know about it.
I think this is a great lease vehicle for 1st time buyers/people trying to build credit.
Price is good, and you really don't have to settle for much
This car looks great but its smaller in person than i expected
Buick is sticking to the price too. It’s good to see something attractive, and good on gas for 25-31,000$
