      Hi. After a month of evaluation this is the major issue
      a) It is very unstable for advanced switching like etherchannel, spanning tree, etc.
      b) According to the official gns3 documentation VM will be slow and may not work when using Qemu. So, no good for advanced switching features. See docs.gns3.com/1c2Iyiczy6efnv-TS_4Hc7p11gn03-ytz9ukgwFfckDk/

    Great video Chuck! I'm currently building out my homelab and was actually thinking about this. Haven't seen many cover putting a homelab into the cloud vs. having an on-site server in my rack. Like the constant question goes: "Hmm should I buy that $300-$500 server, make it a bare metal server to host a bunch of VMs OR...maybe put it in the cloud?"

    Super interesting. Now this has me thinking of somehow locally deploying this on my home lab servers. Looks like simple powershell so maybe a look at the source code on github will allow me to tweak it or run smoothly off of a Windows Server VM (which will deploy to a Ubuntu Server VM inside it as seen here). Who knows maybe it’ll blow up in my face! :D

    • @NetworkChuck
      @NetworkChuck 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is Azure powershell, which requires the azure module and is only pertinent to Azure. That being said, you have a couple of options for on-perm, either use the GNS VM image, you just deploy this in HyperV, or you setup at Ubuntu server and run the bash script to install GNS3

    Chuck, great job! Noticed I ran into some issues with consoling into the routers. How did you get around that? I could telnet into them manually with the Azure public DNS and port, but it doesnt seem to pass that down to the console connection opener if we open it from the GNS3 client.

      Try upgrading your VM's Linux distro to 18.04 then from the VM re-run "curl raw.githubusercontent.com/GNS3/gns3-server/master/scripts/remote-install.sh > gns3-remote-install.sh" then "sudo bash gns3-remote-install.sh --with-iou --with-i386-repository" from what I found looks like there is an incompatibility with the python version that runs on ubuntu 16.04 with the gns3 server 2.2.xx you may even get away with updating the python version to >= 3.5.3 on 16.04 OS.

Last thing that got me, GNS3 controller version mismatch. I updated GNS3 and it was all good. Here's another thing I noticed, if you're migrating from a local vm to this or adding to that setup, the steps at the end are slightly different. Here's a question, security? How do you force authentication?

    Hey, so I followed your instructions which worked. Amazing... however, my 30 days trial has finished. Tried making another account and it didn't work. When trying to sign up for another 30 day trial, I get the following error: "You are not eligible for an Azure subscription"
    Does anyone know if this process is a one time thing or if it's actually repeatable?

    Hi
    My IOSvL2 switches on Azure constantly throw messages "Traceback, Cpu Hog" in the console. There is only ONE switch in the topology, and VM itself has hume amount of free resources (average load 1,74 shown by htop, 29% on Azure dashboard)
    What gives?

    Hey, I just found out yesterday I need to start looking into Azure and Azure Labs. Came looking for info to try and get myself up to speed. My first question is, is this Azure Account separated from my regular Microsoft account, or is the same one? if it's not the same one, can I make it the same one? or is there any reason to keep them separate? Thanks.

    Hi NetworkChuck!Thanks for this. By the way, where can we get the portable project? Do we need to create on our own? thank you.

      Yes, you need to create your own. Unless you can find someone else’s portable project on the inter webs.

    Great content, thank you for shearing. My question is, do we still have to buy the Cisco ios images? if yes should I install them on my gns3 client?

    • @lunycelicourt7381
      @lunycelicourt7381 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You still need to upload the IOS images in the GNS3 VM to be able to use the devices. It's same as when you have GNS3 VM on your computer's VMWARE hypervisor.

    Hi.. I have a problem to connect GNS3 with Server on Azure. This is the message showing in GNS3 - "Please check the connection is not blocked by a firewall or an anti-virus" . I try to allow GNS3 on firewall but without success. Can you help me solve this problem?

    Bruh... most important question of all from this video (by far): What's the make/model of the coffee maker you are using? I need to know.

      After my last comment, I noticed that NetworkChuck doesn't really interface with his viewers. Bad!!!... I went out and found the Vaccum Pot Coffee percolator. You can check it out here: th-cam.com/video/b3pVahLZgAM/w-d-xo.html

    I know this is mostly a Cisco forum but I am trying to get my JCNIA before I take this JNCIP course my company is paying for. Has anyone else tried to run a Juniper lab? I seem to be having some hiccups (mostly cpu leakage). Thoughts?
