And my program is 12months and I'm second language speaker. Just FYI that last semester with you one on one with a nurse aka preceptorship is a requirement for all nursing schools.
I thoroughly agree with your sentiment. I just finished an associate's degree in sciences and arts yesterday. I had to acquire an associates to get into an accelerated program because I didn't go to college because I was always deathly afraid of it. My every experience with the institution of learning has been an abysmal failure, which is why I have been in the restaurant industry for almost 30 years. My ADHD mostly diminished in my late teens, and I learned about my dyslexia at about the time I turned 27. By 28, I was reading everything I could get my hands on. I was like a machine, I was making up for lost time. Still too afraid of school, there was no way I was going back without a very good reason. One day back in the spring of 2021, I decided I wanted to be a nurse. Those classes were hard. A&P, chemistry, statistics, etc - they were hard but very doable, very passable. I'm graduating next week in the top ten percent of my school. Literally, if I can do it, by far most people can. If anybody reads this comment who thinks they don't belong in school, that they are in some way a fraud, please trust that you are not; you CAN do it. I knew every single day I was going to fail; I knew every day that I needed to quit. It is unfortunate that we put "school" on such a high and unbreakable pedestal.

So exciting! There are so many great schools/programs all over the country! I go to a small school in Pittsburgh. Good luck with everything, you’re going to be great 🎉
There are so many wonderful programs all over! What's most important is that you find the one that's the best fit for you! This website can be really helpful to start your search: www.registerednursing.org/degree/accelerated-nursing-programs/ There is a little box on the side that can help generate some schools that might work for you. Just remember it's not about how "good" the school looks on paper but how well they will prepare you to be a nurse and for the NCLEX.
Hey, love your content I wantd to know more about the Work permit you get after the accelerated course (15 months) in Canada. Is it 2 years or 3 years? Please give your opinion. Thanks :)
I did my prerequisites through Portage Online. This is the program my school recommended so I would definitely check with any programs you are interested in that they will accept credits from there!
Did you take out loans to pay for this, or did you save up from your job before applying? I'm exactly in the same boat you were before starting your ABSN!
Do you have a video on what order I should take my pre reqs in? I have a four year degree, I worked for a few years but I've always considered nursing.
Great question! I don't have a video on that but the order of your prereqs will mostly depend on the program you decide on. Mine let me do them in pretty much whatever order as long as I got them done before my start date. Some will be required before moving onto another (i.e., A&P I before A&P 2) but the others can pretty much be done in any order. Hope that helps!
Do you live in california? What nursing school did you attend? They’re so expensive, I was looking out of state but I didn’t realize out of state tuition applied. I’m trying to find something affordable
Is it possible to just do an accelerated masters after getting a bachelors if the goal is to become an NP? Or is it better to through the BA/BS - ABSN - MSN route? Lmk!
You can do an ABSN program with any previous major or minor. For example, my previous degree is in journalism. Science degrees (ex. Biology) tend to make the process faster because you’ll typically have a lot of the prereqs that are required for the program (ex. Chemistry, A&P, etc.).
Hi Liz, May I know the average cost of studying accelerated nursing degree in usa? I’m looking for cheaper colleges (community colleges?) with any scholarship; I am 39 years old, Canadian citizen, pursued masters in Biotechnology and Masters in Public health in Canada and have been working in clinical trials for more than 11 years in canada but I am always fascinated about nursing; if you could let me know some community colleges in US that would offer accelerated bachelor nursing be great help!
Hello Margareth I am currently searching for Absn programs and thinking about community college for taking prerequisites. Currently i am pregnant and taking those online would help me a lot. I wonder how and where did you take your classes? Thank you. Its a great video!
Community college is the perfect way to do pre reqs! I did all of mine online through a Portage Learning (chosen by my school). I’m sure many community colleges offer online classes, just be sure your program will accept the credits before you start!
As far as I know, a previous bachelors is required for an accelerated BSN program. However there are a few different ways to become an RN which I talk more about in my latest video on nursing careers!
Some schools allow you to have 60 credits (instead of a Bachelor’s degree)! I go to Utica College ABSN and the two Florida campuses allow that. I’m not sure of any others at the moment! I think it varies by state
Heyy..i am a little bit confused, i did non science subjects in high school, didn't get to go to university sooner. Currently 22 and i want to move from South Africa to Canada/Poland/Australia...Still deciding . So can i do this accelerated nursing program without any science background?? I hope to hear back from you
Hi! I'm sorry I cant be much help. I am not sure how nursing programs work in Canada, Poland, or Australia. I came from a non-science background but had to take science classes as prerequisites for my program. Good luck!
@@crystaledsouza this is a great question. I’m not sure. I would recommend asking the schools you are applying to where they accept credits from. My school specifically recommends Portage but you’ll want to make sure your program will accept the classes they offer.
@@margaretarmen I have bsc in accounting and want to do ABSN so I want a school whos of all the stuff u said. Was the same school u went for the ABSN recommend the online prerequisites?
Different programs require different things but I didn’t find it too difficult. Most just looked for a 3.0 or higher, the prereqs (or plans to do them), and a short application. Mine did not ask for references but others that I looked at did.

I am afraid of that I can’t pass the program if I just go straight into the program, because I am took these prerequisite classes in Chinese, what’s more, it passed six years already 😂I am struggling with if I should take prerequisite classes again, I just live there two years, for normal daily communication I am doing well using English, I have no idea for nursing professional English, so could you please give me some advice? Thank you so much❤
Thanks for the info, appreciate it. I just graduated with my degree in communication. Looking to go back to school within the four to five years. Are MENP programs worth it?
What about a regular Acceleration BSN program for someone that’s a first time college student with no prior medical experience?
Wow that’s surprising that the accelerated program is so short in the states!in Canada it’s 24 months
I was shocked when I first saw how short they are! There are definitely pros and cons for both long and short programs 😄
In canada we do have 19-ish month accelerated programs, i.e western/trent nursing
oh wordd, I'm in Alberta thats probably why!
How many schools did you apply to for the accelerated program?
I am a single mom with a son who is 4years old, i also want to apply this program . It is a little challenge 😂
Hi Margaret, were you able to work asap after the program or there would be some more rotation at hospitals?
which university have you done your nursing program in? :)
Your video is so helpful and encouraging! I am taking my last pre-requisite class and researching for nursing schools! Thank you for the tips!☺️ What school do you go to?!
So exciting! There are so many great schools/programs all over the country! I go to a small school in Pittsburgh. Good luck with everything, you’re going to be great 🎉
This is really helpful, thanks a lot . I already have a bachelors degree, pls kindly recommend the best schools for this Accelerated bsn in Nevada
There are so many wonderful programs all over! What's most important is that you find the one that's the best fit for you! This website can be really helpful to start your search: www.registerednursing.org/degree/accelerated-nursing-programs/
There is a little box on the side that can help generate some schools that might work for you.
Just remember it's not about how "good" the school looks on paper but how well they will prepare you to be a nurse and for the NCLEX.
so what was the school with the 100 nclex pass rate?
Thank you so much for sharing - you inspired me - can I asked in what state did you completed your nursing degree ?
I’m about half way through my program but I’m am in school in Pennsylvania. I’ll be taking the NCLEX here as well
@@margaretarmen what school in PA? I plan to move there if I may ask
Hey, love your content
I wantd to know more about the Work permit you get after the accelerated course (15 months) in Canada.
Is it 2 years or 3 years? Please give your opinion.
Thanks :)
What online institution did you complete your prerequisites from?
I did my prerequisites through Portage Online. This is the program my school recommended so I would definitely check with any programs you are interested in that they will accept credits from there!
@@margaretarmen thank you for the feedback ☺️
Did you take out loans to pay for this, or did you save up from your job before applying? I'm exactly in the same boat you were before starting your ABSN!
Which nursing school did you attend.Am interested.
how long did the prerequisites take you?
Do you have a video on what order I should take my pre reqs in? I have a four year degree, I worked for a few years but I've always considered nursing.
Great question! I don't have a video on that but the order of your prereqs will mostly depend on the program you decide on. Mine let me do them in pretty much whatever order as long as I got them done before my start date. Some will be required before moving onto another (i.e., A&P I before A&P 2) but the others can pretty much be done in any order. Hope that helps!
Hi...do you have any nursing school you can recommend to me?
Heyy Margaret...are international students eligible for this Absn program??
Please what school are you attending??? Will love to apply
Do you live in california? What nursing school did you attend? They’re so expensive, I was looking out of state but I didn’t realize out of state tuition applied. I’m trying to find something affordable
Hii there!
Hi I’m in pa do you mind sharing what school you attended?
hi my fiance is comming from the phlippines she dont have any exspiereance in nursing and she has no college what she can do to get into nursing???
What school do you go to? Snhu ?
Is it possible to just do an accelerated masters after getting a bachelors if the goal is to become an NP?
Or is it better to through the BA/BS - ABSN - MSN route? Lmk!
are there available scholarships for this program or do they only consider those taking bachelor's and not accelerated programs? thank you
What school did u go to
Does the bachelor degree gpa matter or do they only take in account the pre-requisite and science gpa?
My program required a 3.0 overall GPA, including non-science courses
What majors and minors are expected in ur bachelors degree in order to go through the accelerated program/ make it a faster process.
You can do an ABSN program with any previous major or minor. For example, my previous degree is in journalism. Science degrees (ex. Biology) tend to make the process faster because you’ll typically have a lot of the prereqs that are required for the program (ex. Chemistry, A&P, etc.).
do you know if accelerated ASN course is also difficult
Hi Liz, May I know the average cost of studying accelerated nursing degree in usa? I’m looking for cheaper colleges (community colleges?) with any scholarship; I am 39 years old, Canadian citizen, pursued masters in Biotechnology and Masters in Public health in Canada and have been working in clinical trials for more than 11 years in canada but I am always fascinated about nursing; if you could let me know some community colleges in US that would offer accelerated bachelor nursing be great help!
How do you find which schools near you can apply to? is there some sort of accelerated nursing program portal?
I just googled "accelerated nursing program in *your city*"
Which school did u go to for the ABSN
Even if you are a science major, you still have to take A&P, microbiology and Statistics?
If you've taken these classes already you don't need to take them again!
Hello Margareth
I am currently searching for Absn programs and thinking about community college for taking prerequisites.
Where did you go?
I answer that in my latest Q&A!
Can I still get into an accelerated nursing program if I don’t already have a bachelors degree?
As far as I know, a previous bachelors is required for an accelerated BSN program. However there are a few different ways to become an RN which I talk more about in my latest video on nursing careers!
@@margaretarmen got it! I’ll be watching more of your videos thanks!
Some schools allow you to have 60 credits (instead of a Bachelor’s degree)! I go to Utica College ABSN and the two Florida campuses allow that. I’m not sure of any others at the moment! I think it varies by state
@@Kim-cj2fl thank you!
Depends on the state but no. It will be considered a fast track program. They have programs for ppl that already have their associates also!
Good luck!
Please can you tell me the online school you did your prerequisites in
I used Portage Learning for all my pre reqs
Thank you so much
Can International applicants use portage learning as well?
@@crystaledsouza this is a great question. I’m not sure. I would recommend asking the schools you are applying to where they accept credits from. My school specifically recommends Portage but you’ll want to make sure your program will accept the classes they offer.
@@margaretarmen I have bsc in accounting and want to do ABSN so I want a school whos of all the stuff u said. Was the same school u went for the ABSN recommend the online prerequisites?
LOVE your vlog babes!! Check out The Nursing Diary for more nursing related videos 🩺💖
Hi Margaret, how did you prepare for the TEAS, and can science prerequisites be completed online for example Gen Chem?
I am thinking of doing this too, was it hard to get into a program like this?
Different programs require different things but I didn’t find it too difficult. Most just looked for a 3.0 or higher, the prereqs (or plans to do them), and a short application. Mine did not ask for references but others that I looked at did.
@@margaretarmen okay thanks for responding!
@@samanthaalepra405 of course! Good luck with everything!
@@margaretarmen Thanks again and you as well!
