    തിരുവനന്തപുരം നഗരത്തില്‍ നിന്ന്‌ എട്ടു കിലോമീറ്റര്‍ ദൂരെ പേയാട്‌ എന്ന സ്ഥലത്ത്‌ അനിതയും ജയകുമാറും നാട്ടുമരങ്ങളുടെ കാടൊരുക്കാന്‍ തീരുമാനിച്ചത്‌ മിയാവാക്കി മാതൃക വനവത്‌കരണത്തില്‍ നിന്നും പ്രചോദനമുള്‍ക്കൊണ്ടാണ്‌. കാലാവസ്ഥാ വ്യതിയാനത്തെ ചെറുക്കാന്‍ തങ്ങളാലാവുന്നത്‌ ചെയ്യണമെന്ന ചിന്തയും ഇതിനു പ്രേരകമായി.
    നൂറ്‌ ചതുരശ്ര മീറ്ററില്‍ പോലും ചെടികള്‍ വളര്‍ത്താനാവുമെന്നതാണ്‌ മിയാവാക്കി മാതൃക തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കാനിവരെ പ്രേരിപ്പിച്ചത്‌. അങ്ങനെ 2 സെന്റ്‌ സ്ഥലത്ത്‌ 350 തൈകള്‍ നട്ട്‌ കാടൊരുക്കി. നാടന്‍ ഇനങ്ങളായ മാവ്‌, പ്ലാവ്‌, പേര, കുടമ്പുളി, നെല്ലി തുടങ്ങിയ തൈകളാണ്‌ ഇവിടെ ഉപയോഗിച്ചിട്ടുളളത്‌.
    Re-creating Natural Forests with Native Trees
    Anitha and Jayakumar, inspired by the Miyawaki Method, undertake a thoughtful and loving task of growing vegetation on a small and mostly barren ground at Peyad, 8 km away from Thiruvananthapuram City in Kerala. Forests can be grown even in areas as small as 100 sq m using this method. The couple decide to use 2 cents (870 square feet) of land to plant about 350 saplings. Each sapling will be planted in pots that will be filled with rich soil, cow dung, and coir pith. Some of the prominent saplings include Mango tree, Jack fruit tree, Gooseberry, Guava, Malabar Tamarind, etc

    • @CrowdForesting
      @CrowdForesting  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      In the early stages when the saplings are planted, the soil being rich in nutrients, weeds will grow at a higher pace, At this stage if weeds are not removed the planted saplings will be eaten up by the weeds. Once the plants are well rooted and grown for about 2 years, weeding will not be required. The falling leaves twigs ,the pruned branches and leaves left on the forest bed will act as a blanket and control weed growth. So, for a minimum time of forest simulation, weeds have to be controlled ........for a better cause!

      The pots used are made from the husk fibre of coconut. They are totally bio-degradable and transform into organic matter on decomposing. Also these coir pots allows water and air to penetrate quickly.

    Hi,
    Is there any way to determine the life of such forest which is grown faster than usual rate of any natural (without any human intervention) forest? The question came to mind because of the fact that the slower the plants grow healthier and immune they are and they live very long.

    • @CrowdForesting
      @CrowdForesting  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      These forests are also the same as that of natural forest. About the growth of trees, healthy saplings will grow faster than the other. Here the plants are growing with the theory of Darwin, the survival of the fittest. Thankyou

    Amazing endeavour. But why use pots? It impedes the tap root of the sapling and would inadvertently slow the growth.

    • @KickBull
      @KickBull 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CrowdForesting It takes quite a bit of time for the pot to decompose and allow the roots to spread, and when talking about trees, especially stuff like avocados which have big strong tap roots which are very important for the growing speed and long term health of the plant, such pots are never ideal, they shouldn't have been used in the first place. Best to use plastic pots which you can then remove and use again for other plants for many many years and also allow the taproot to grow right away.

      As of this moment I do not advise the use of these pots. Most of my "normal" plastic pots have years of continuous use and are still good to go.

      1சதுர மீட்டர் என்பது. சுமார் 11 சதுர அடி. 1sq.meter = 11 sq.feet. approx. 100sq.m.= 11000 sq.f.

      Unbelievable how closed minded people are about our planet because a biasd politician who is making millions says so. The rise of the animals on this planet and the fall of humans will be profound.
