- John Deere X-9 Corn Harvest 2020 continues. The weather has been great and things are dry. We can't complain.
The goal of the Grain Bin Safety campaign is to reduce the occurrence of grain bin accidents by raising awareness of the hazards and by raising funds to equip first responders with the tools and training needed to respond quickly when necessary in the event of a grain bin accident. The funds raised will be used to purchase Grain Bin Rescue kits and training for our first responders.

@bill slayton I took his comment to mean that he wanted to spend time with his girl and that the ride and icream were for when she felt better. A lot of us have had injuries.
Thank goodness baby girl is ok 👍. We just had my first baby girl 2 months ago and now I know why you love that lil girl so much. Nothing sweeter than daddy’s baby girl ❤️❤️❤️

Nothing would make me happier than to see a little baby girl with a cast on her arm and an ice cream in the other hand in a big John Deere combine with her daddy or grandfather unloading to a huge grain cart/tractor driven by her big brother in a big, beautiful Minnesota field.

As I started a bin sweep at 5am this morning and grabbed my shovel, I snapped my fingers 3 times and nothing happened... we are going to need to talk about that trick. I'll pay.
I tried that when I started a fire guard, nothing happened. But in the spring, I seeded 6 fields with that snap. Maybe a malfunction 🤔

Prayers for Isla. Zach, every post I watch I find increasing levels of complexity in grain farming. I don't know how you remember it all. I never realized what a big complicated job it is. You are truly educating us non-farmers about your world.
I second this comment. So interesting to see both the massive mechanical skill and work to keep so much machinery working, which I knew was part of farming, but it’s great to get insight into the modern computerized, gps based technology that’s now a big part of farming. Like the rest of it it’s a toss up whether the increased efficiency and labor savings is worth the steep learning curve and complexity. Not to mention the issue of Deere’s proprietary programming that requires Deere stuff. Like Apple. Using their systems to force you to purchase their software and services only leading some to hack systems themselves.

Hey I’m doing a MNMF series this weekend! Can’t wait for the X9! Currently trying to replicate the challenger vs Deere video!
And yeah, siid takes his time on mods, (9400-9500-9600-9410-9510-9610-9650) but they are really really good when they come out. Lot of work goes into them and I’m thankful we have guys like that in the fs community

This has been an amazing corn harvest. Way better than last year. The wettest corn we had this year w2as 19.8% & the driest was the last field at 15.7%. We finished harvest 2020 today, exactly one month earlier than last year. Finish tillage tomorrow & clean stuff up & put it away for the year. Good luck with the rest of harvest & I'm glad to hear your daughter's surgery went well & she is home.

I thought that “garbage can” was maybe just a really really expensive container, built into the machine to replace the flash light you used for getting grain samples to check moooooiiissture.... Who knew...
Old 45 combine, looks just like the one that my dad had. It was my first farming accident at 3 yrs old. 130 stitches later, no broken bones but right leg was messed up. They have no idea why it didn't pull me into the combine & kill me....
