    I have been sewing for at least sixty five years and have made every quilt shape and size but really have never thought of just sewing the whole fat quarters together. These would be so fast to make and good for nursing homes, picnics, toss about, naps the list goes on and on. Thanks for this quick quilt idea, yours is so cute. When I saw this I just had a duh moment, lol.

    I love this. I’m already thinking of all the fun fabric choices for this cute quilt. I don’t do really intricate quilting so this is perfect for me. I live in Hawaii and I think the Hawaiian print fabric will make it so cute. Thank you Sheryl.

    This is a nice tutorial to show beginners how to use fat quarters to make a quilt. I love to sew and use fat quarters quite often but I hadn’t thought about using them like this to make a quilt. Also, anyone watching will learn about an easy way to bind her or his quilt. It’s always good to learn things no matter if you’re a beginner or advanced. Thank you.

    Thank you so much for all your videos. I'm still learning and a quilt is one think I have always wanted to do but have been very afraid. And I just have a singer sewing machine from Walmart so can't do a very big one. One day I'm hoping to afford a babaylock. Because you inspire me so much and that is what you have. Again thank you so much for all your videos

    Thank you for this tutorial. Love watching all of your tips and tutorials. How would you finish the corners of the binding before stitching? I've seen you do binding plenty of times but I was wondering if this easy quilt had a different technique. Thanks again.

    I had watched you a few years ago. Im not really a quilter but borrow some techniques to add to my jean bags etc. Lately looking for a new king quilt. Prefer cotton or at least poly/cotton. We replaced our queen bed. The quilt we had for that seemed like just 2 sheets sewn together with tone on tone random sewing. Thread and quilt material a light beige. I add interest with pillow shams etc. It was maybe like 20 or more years ago. My sister gave me one for our trailer too but also a queen. Nothing like this is out there now. All reviews of kind of similar online is cheap, rated bad, tears or shipped looking used!? I maybe would have went with kantha quilts but now that they are "popular" seems cheap imitation being made too. Im now thinking just to make one from fat quarters of similar subtle beige tones. Id have to do quilt as you go I think. Or just make a duvet cover and buy an insert if I can find a light one. We are in high desert but with a wood stove and one extra blanket a summer bedspread, quilt is plenty! The covers for duvet inserts are expensive too and I dont trust the quality. But would rather have what I want. Will study up I guess. This video gives me inspiration. I think I can handle quilt as I go with fat quarter size. Im practised at binding as thats my main clothing finishing!

      Hi Retroredo. Here is a link to my fat quarter tutorial: th-cam.com/video/Ff7x6HXgnKI/w-d-xo.html
      You can make it any size, and you can use the quilt as you go method. There are now king size quilts available anywhere that will completely cover the sides of the mattresses. Early this year I finally gave in and made one using fabric pieces cut into large rectanges. I layed the pieces out on my bed to make sure I had enough to cover the sides of the mattress. I took the quilt top to a long arm quilter and it tuned out great. The quilt was so heavy I couldn't get it through my sewing machine when stitching on the binding. I finally asked my husband to help me. I gave him a 5 minute lesson on how to use the sewing machine. The binding is a little sloppy but I am so happy it is done. I will never make another king size quilt. My left arm and shoulder hurt for a month. Hope yours turns out great. Thanks for watching💗and happy sewing😍

    I don't know if I will get an answer but.... I have been wanting to make a kingsize quilt. I wanted to tie it. If I did this and tied the corners and centers would that work? This method is less intimidating than a lot of cutting, piecing, quilting and binding.

    • @debraigo2711
      @debraigo2711 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It would work, but as heavy and big as king size will be, I think I would put maybe 4-6 extra ties in each block. It's a lot easier to do in the beginning, ask how I know??? I love tied quilts.

    • @TheSewingRoomChannel
      @TheSewingRoomChannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, but I would tie it in more places so that all the layers stay together. Thanks for watching. 😍

    Good evening Mrs. Cheryl, I started on my quilt watching your video, however, I ran into a little hiccup. What kind of cutting board are you using on the bottom of your material to cut ? The one I have didn't do me any justice .If you could please let me know what is the cutting board, so that I can add it to my sewing items. Thank you for your time and patience .Cynthia

      Hi Cynthia. There are many different brands of rotary cutting mats, and they come in many different sizes. My mat is 38" x 70" is made by Sullivan, and I purchased it from amazon.com. Joann Fabrics and Crafts also has the mats in smaller sizes. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching💗and happy sewing😍

    How do you do the corners

    • @TheSewingRoomChannel
      @TheSewingRoomChannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Tammy. There is no special mitered corner fold. Fold the fabric twice over to the front on 2 opposite edges. Stitch all the way from end to end. Then fold the other two edges over to the front, and stitch from end to end.
      Here is a close up of this technique: th-cam.com/video/IpiXpTIRQhA/w-d-xo.html
