Good Morning , Thank you so much for showing this quilt love it I went to Joann Fabric store and got material on sale for spring cotton ... I love to make quilts , I am a crafter, and make blankets to sell . the disappearing nine patch is great .... thanks again love to learn from you ....
As I'm trying to learn new things about sewing and quilting, I find that your instructions are the best and easiest to follow. We are in the middle of a snowstorm, so tomorrow I will try to make some quilted pot holders. I can't seem to find any that keep you from burning your hands. 😯
Hi Aunt Marys Pals. Use Insul-Bright in your pot holders. One layer of cotton batting and one layer of Insul-Bright. Joann Fabrics and Crafts carries it, and you can purchase off the internet. Stay warm. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍
This is a great video on disappearing nine patch. I’m currently getting fabric together for one for a baby quilt. I really like all of your hints and techniques making the quilt. I think I’m going to wiz through this one with your help.
Hi Shelly. I don't have a tutorial on the Cathedral Window but here is a link to my Attic Window tutorial: th-cam.com/video/BA4aDBqJiLk/w-d-xo.html Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍
Hi Debra. You can cut your squares any size. My 9 squares were 5 1/2", and after stitching them all together the 9 pat block was 15 1/2". Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍
Another inspiring video. You are a fantastic coach! Question, I understand you used 5 1/2" squares for your 9 patches, but how many nine patches did you make for your demo quilt? Thank you!
Sherrill what size blocks did you start out with to make your 9 patches? I have been wanting to make a disappearing nine patch for a long time and I like your but I did not see anywhere what size blocks you started to make your actual 9 patches. I know this is an old tutorial and I hope that you still see the comments on it. Thanks a lot and happy sewing.
Hi Maryann. I started with 5" squares. But you can start with any size square. Glad you liked the disappearing 9 patch quilt tutorial. Thanks for watching💗and happy sewing😍
Yes, but I prefer to cut them individually. If you are going to stack them and cut, make sure every block is lined up properly. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍
Hi Annette. I started with nine 5 1/2" squares. When all 9 squares are stitched together the block is 15 1/2" square. Then cut the block in the middle up and down, and side to side. Arrange them in any order that you like, and stitch them together. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍
Hi. Karen. I started with nine 5 1/2" squares. This gives you a 15 1/2" square block. After cutting them up the you have four blocks 7 3/4" square. Decide how big you want your quilt, and make enough to cover that area. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍
Hi Leslie. It could be that the fabric was cut slightly smaller. Or sometimes, the seams were stitched wider than the first block. In order for all blocks to come out the same make sure all the fabric squares are cut the same size, and the seams are consistently 1/4" wide. After making all the blocks, then square them to the same size. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍

When cutting the 9-patch block, can you layer your blocks to cut or is it better to cut one at a time?
Yes, but I prefer to cut them individually. If you are going to stack them and cut, make sure every block is lined up properly. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍
Good afternoon
Hi Barbara. Happy sewing. 😍
In the samples you were using to demonstrate were they bigger than 5 1/2? They looked pretty big.
Hi Sharon. I started out with nine 5 1/2" squares. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍
Good morning
Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍
Are these 5 1/2 squares? I didn’t hear that part. And what size did you make? It’s very cute
any sizer square will work... even 2 1/2... but the believe they are 5"
Hi Annette. I started with nine 5 1/2" squares. When all 9 squares are stitched together the block is 15 1/2" square. Then cut the block in the middle up and down, and side to side. Arrange them in any order that you like, and stitch them together. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍
So maybe I missed it. But it sounds like you started with 5 1/2 inch squares? How many of those 9 patches did you make?
any square will do... just measure the completed block in the middle... and cut it in half...5 " square... u cut 2 1/4 each way
Hi. Karen. I started with nine 5 1/2" squares. This gives you a 15 1/2" square block. After cutting them up the you have four blocks 7 3/4" square. Decide how big you want your quilt, and make enough to cover that area. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍
My second block come out smaller 🤔🤔😮😢😢 why does that happen?
Hi Leslie. It could be that the fabric was cut slightly smaller. Or sometimes, the seams were stitched wider than the first block.
