cirno will forever have a soft spot in my heart as it's the first touhou character that i ever personally saw, and absolutely fell in love with. i was the bunch that joined in with tf2 and september first. the song was VERY catchy yet i never actually knew who's theme it was for until i finally found the flood that was the comment section. to be honest, i thought cirno was a main character... yeah i didn't know much back then >_> little me being obsessed with the only fps game i knew at that time would be what inevitably mark my fate as a touhou fan but it's still a bit odd how tf2 and touhou have such strong connections
I believe Cirno's simplicity aids in her popularity. She's a really easy character to understand, a species that everyone knows with a simple ability, and not as inclined to incite culture shock in non-japanese fans as most other characters. Just about anyone can understand her character no issue, that makes her highly accessible.
