    LYRICS:
    I can make the hills
    The system is shot
    I'm living on pills
    For which I thank G-d
    My animal howls
    My angel’s upset
    But I'm not allowed
    A trace of regret
    For someone will use
The thing I could not be
My heart will be hurt impersonally
    She’ll step on the path
    She’ll see what I mean
    My will cut in half
    And freedom between
    For less than a second
    Our lives will collide
    The endless suspended
    The door open wide
    And she will be born
    To someone like you
    What I left undone
    She will certainly do
    I know she is coming
And I know she will look
    And that is the longing
    And this is the hook
    I can’t make the hills
    The system is shot
    I'm living on pills
    For which I thank G-d
    My page was too white
    My ink was too thin
    The day wouldn’t write
    What the night penciled in
But I know she is coming
And I know she will look
    And that is the longing
    And this is the hook
    (I know she is coming)
And I know she will look
    (that is the longing)
    And this is the hook
    I can make the hills
    The system is shot
    I'm living on pills
    For which I thank G-d
    I sailed like a swan
    I sank like a rock
    But time is long gone
    Past my laughingstock
And I can make the hills
    The system is shot
    I'm living on pills
    For which I thank G-d

When you're depressed..put on some Cohen. He'll assure you, he'll walk with you. And, you'll make it through. That's what Cohen does. Still does. The Master lives.

One of my regrets never seeing in concert.
I got into Leonard Cohen late. My brother gifted my mother one of his later CD's and all the years of not wanting to hear Cohen disappeared and suddenly I listened and became a fan.
Ironically both my brother and mother have passed on and that one album means more to me now. It was my doorway with an open mind and ive been collecting ever since.

Saw him live in Liverpool....... the 70 odd year old geezer skipped onto the stage in a beautiful suit with a fabric matching trilby, bare foot onto a Persian rug..........and sang...........and stunned everyone there.

So: thanks for the Songs Mr Cohen...

One particular detail I noted about this song’s music video is that despite the man’s depressed/somber look on his face, he continues walking towards his goal (“the hills”) anyway, even when it looks impossible for him. That is pure meaningful right there.

I have had exactly the same thought. Many of his songs are so personal to him it is hard to clearly know what he is expressing, yet his lyrics burn themselves into your brain. It is often as if each subsequent word or phrase, is the perfect one for the occasion. I am not good at remembering lyrics, but it seems impossible to forget his

Here I go again.....I still can't listen to The Master without crying... Especially now the world is falling apart, we need his wisdom, his Beauty, his Poetry, his Voice, his Comfort. Mister Cohen understood all our feelings and he wasn't afraid to speak the truth about politics, humanrelations, etc. And now, he is still speaking to us, he's still here for us..
But the pain of him being gone, when will that go away? Maybe I'm just crazy.... But This was such a special Gentleman...
And we are "The Broken Hearted many, the Open Hearted few..."
Thanks for the songs, Mr.Cohen, thanks for a way of living....
About the clip: it's perfect, it's in the style of the master, thank you makers.....
    Blessed Be and be safe everyone...;

This song touches me so deeply. My dad passed away last July and we didn't say goodbye, but this song sounds like something he'd leave me behind with. "What I left undone, she will certainly do." It's such a powerful line and gives me a feeling of strength and hope.
It is so masterfully done, it sounds like a dance between life and death, joy and grief, hope and despair. But ends perfectly combining the two. I am in awe!
Rest in peace Leonard, I bet you and my dad are great friends up there.

Moim marzeniem jest spotkać go w innym lepszym świecie. W świecie w którym jest miłość i dobroć. No i jego cudowny głos i wrażliwość. Do zobaczenia później mój ukochany Leonardzie 😊

❤️ 🇧🇬 ❤️ 🇧🇬 ❤️ 🇧🇬 🌻🌾🌷🌿🌹🌲🥀💓🍀☘️💐🎄🌲🌺🍀🌼☘️🌻🌿❤️🇧🇬❤️

Death is nothing more than a convoluted concept.
    Nobody dies, they pass on
They pass on their passions, perspectives, habits, hobbies, & yes even their silly little eccentricities to those who knew them best.
Like when you play with your children, thats your elders seeing them through your eyes.
Nobody ever dies, they pass on.
That is the true meaning of life everlasting

Thanks Mr. Cohen. Again. And again. Picture you with Marianne on Hydra now. Saw this video three times now. First i was desperate, these apocalyptic scenes seemed so real right now. Second time i saw the small glimpses of hope in it. After the third time watching, i am now full of hope and calm. This too shall pass.

There is HOPE, always hope whether we can or can’t make the hills. Our ability or inability to do so is separate from the quiet yet consistent insistence of sacred hope 💓

    I can't make the hills
    The system is shot
    I'm living on pills
    For which I thank God
    My animal howls
    My angel's upset
    But I'm not allowed
    A trace of regret
    For someone will use
The thing I could not be
My heart will be hurt impersonally
    She'll step on the path
    She'll see what I mean
    My will cut in half
    And freedom between
    For less than a second
    Our lives will collide
    The endless suspended
    The door open wide
    And she will be born
    To someone like you
    What I left undone
    She will certainly do
    I know she is coming
And I know she will look
    And that is the longing
    And this is the hook
    I can't make the hills
    The system is shot
    I'm living on pills
    For which I thank God
    My page was too white
    My ink was too thin
    The day wouldn't write
    What the night penciled in
But I know she is coming…
