The depth of this song, caused me to remember things in my own life, I thought were buried, and forgotten. You understood the human condition quite well. I believe there will probably never be somebody like you again, and you were probably the last of your time R.I.P. Leonard Cohen.

There are two Leonard Cohens. I love them both. I appreciate the young Leonard and I love the old. The first song I heard from him was Everybody Knows. Amazing.
Cohen's songs have the impression that they are really well-thought before they were written. Nothing is wasted. Nothing is set on paper merely for the sake of accomplishing something. No poetical ramblings. Sometimes it makes us wonder if he is on the same plane with Dylan. The Master lives.
He is an endearing, tender hearted, gentleman. He was always calling us "Friends"...miss him so very, very much. A treasure we were so fortunate to have on this journey with us. He is a prophet, a gentleman, hope, a Poet, a Perfect Performer with a golden voice, humble, for many The Master. For me: he was there with a song through my whole life, he was my compagnion through my life.... And I miss him very much, even when I have never met him... The world turned so much colder when Mister Cohen passed away.....

I cried and cried and cried when I listened to this song.. I know the years have given me so many memories, (63 of them as of now).. and Leonard's words made those times become such clear visons repeated over again. Regrets, Not Regrets, Laughter, Anger, Misunderstandings,, Lovers, Happiness and the list can go on and on.. Only a few human emotions to mention.. Those tears were not just of sadness,, but of the happy times.. Of the people I met in this world.. Of the beauty of humans,, yet the ugliness too.. Though I know you are in the Spirit World now I want to say Thank you Leonard for being able to communicate what most of us wish we could say or share with our loved ones.. Just thank you so much for helping me to cry and to remember once again..

Don't care for the video but love the lyrics.
If the song was not sublime, then with this video it is transcendental. He touches on such serious subjects with such a light but firm touch. The images capture this. I have returned here many times. I see it and hear it in my daily life. This is art at its best.

Cohen left the world with more grace than any other artist I know of.
That was a brilliant vocal performance from Leonard. He really pushed the melody out strong which he can struggle with. You feel he wanted to leave it all out there as the night closed in on him.
