    We live in a 55 plus community and the one thing we learned at 47 and 51 when we moved in was to keep moving, exercise of some sort or you will end up hunched over. My mom is 80 and still teaches exercise classes at the senior center. I was blessed last month to care for her while she recovered from a total hip replacement. I am thankful I can care for her when she needs me, but she is still very independent. My husband’s mother is 91 and still lives on her own in a house and drives. My mom also lives on just what we call social security in the US so my husband and I provide a lot of extras for her. As we enter retirement age now 55 and 59 and a 💩💩💩 economy it’s getting more difficult to assist our aging parents but we will because God asks us to care for the widows.
    Enjoy your parents while they are still here to enjoy, one day they will be gone so don’t have regrets.

      Indeed. Yes, I live in Texas now, so I'm more familiar with USA social security than Canadian ones. Y'all are still young cats. Amen to honoring thy mothers (and hopefully fathers while they were still here). God is smiling at you and I'm sure you will be rewarded much when He calls you to live with Him in heaven.
      God bless!

    You are a wise son, your family (your uncles, aunties and parents) raised you well amidst all the challenges.Thank you for checking in on your parents and for realizing that you and your brother may become their caregivers one day.. Many people your age can learn a lot from you. This video really hit home for me because my brother and I took care of my mom in her last years. Not many of us locals here in Hawaii can afford a costly care home and I would not have wanted it anyway. All the best.

    • @donaldkhlee
      @donaldkhlee  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you. I'm glad your mom was taken care of in her last years. Now you just gotta worry about yourself haha! Hawaii needs more attention. Great and beautiful place, but with the fires a lot of locals are suffering and the insurance and government hasn't done enough.
      I pray you find prosperity and security in your later years!

    I agree. When your older, taking high risk reward ventures is just wreckless. Burn out is also a very big thing - people often don't realize pacing yourself is sustainable.

    I feel you my father passed earlier this year at 63 and left my mom (64 turning 65 soon) with a strong safety net, pension and social security, making a little more than the average family. Me, my younger sister and older brother make the average income both single, me and my brother live by ourselves and home owners. My younger sister lives in my mom, my niece in my mom/ dads home from corporate housing, for temporary time period until my mom and sister find a place to live. I am holding on to my job and side hustling to make sure we have enough.

      You should be proud of your dad. He f-cking (pardon my french) killed it by setting you guys all up and making sure mom was taken care of. And he set you guys up and now you're slaying the game. My piece of advice is to make sure to pass that along to your kids sir!

    Hi @donald there are is no security in anything to include building on the side. Why dont you just go all in , on your career? Do you have your certs? Advanced degree? How long have you been in your title? What is your mentality at work?
    Who we are will follow us in every venture we do. You could quit and find yourself in the same position except with less money. I think that the best thing to do is to always learn how to go the extra mile in everything you do.
    I think you work in tech if i remember, sure the market is bad today but in 3 years, 5 years will it be? If you buckle down now why cant you ride that wave?

    • @donaldkhlee
      @donaldkhlee  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Charles, I agree.
      I don't see employment as the way that will provide me security in the future. I see many seniors get laid off and not be able to find work despite having certs and skills. There is an age bias.
      I think it's also in my blood, I'm from a family of entrepreneurs, so I do feel the itch to be my own boss and it's been getting worse over the years haha :)

    All in is for someone who doesn't have fixed expenses (or a family). It's common knowledge that most businesses failed in their first year. Have a few years of savings before you go all out.

    20K wont last you 3 months in Canada, that's considering daily expenses, rent and business costs. Maybe you can quite and go "all in" with a 100k (in North America). Nice video overall but it seems like you are already quite comfortable with your situation, sure we all want more but some are more hungry and eager than others. Also, is buzzwallhq your product?

    • @donaldkhlee
      @donaldkhlee  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Facts! I really don't know how people are surviving in Canada with rising costs and unchanging salaries. I don't even think $100K is enough in N.A.
      I'm OK, I can survive, but of course, i think we should always hunger for more.
      BuzzwallHQ is my product that I'm working on right now amongst a bunch of other failed products haha.

    You need to reduce your expenses. Keep your high paying job. Put away as much as you can to get an investment account to $100K. Get a second job. If you can, it's about cash flow NOW! Time invested is what counts. If you are working on building something, great, but if you can bring in more by waiting tables, do that. Once you hit $100K you can decide if you want to scale back then, ok. But if you want to keep going, even better. You're in it for the long-term (20-25 years). Financial independence is a low stress way of living.
    I always say, "If you work towards a career, you get a career. If you work to build wealth, you get financial independence." You are in a good position if you have a good paying day job. "I don't want my coworkers seeing me waiting tables at night." 😂 Even if at 45 you're retired and traveling the world while they are still on that hamster wheel? They say the best revenge is success!
    Your parents are good for another 10-15 years. So you'd better get going!

    • @donaldkhlee
      @donaldkhlee  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hahaha. My second job right now is defs getting this YT channel set up. Thanks for the pep talk!
      Agreed completely. The first 100k is always the hardest. And then it multiplies. But I would vouch for starting something that you can own and can build you wealth. Every. Single. Day
