    I too am a huge fan of Joel Kramer! I was subscribed to his channel before I discovered you. He is the best Biblical archaeologist I have discovered, and he seems to be aware of all or most of the best evidence for the Bible. Interestingly he started out as a film maker. I am so glad we share this interest.

    Joel Kramer is one of my favourite utube videos to watch. I also have a copy of his book, Where God Came Down. I read it through. Now I like to have it handy when watching his videos. That is whe I'm having a short rest from binge watching The Chosen.😊

    I'm sorry to be so irreverent about this but the first thing that came to mind was Kilroy was here. But this is very cool. Obviously it was written by a Christian hiding from persecutors. I do understand this expression. This is true--I've been struggling with a sinus infection, and last night, the pressure in my sinuses pushed up against my left eye's optic nerve. I woke up with very painful blindness in the middle of the night. My eye was so sensitive to light that increased the pain. I am disabled, and I was unable to find my shoes because they weren't where I usually keep them at night in case of an emergency. After an hour of trying to find something to alleviate the pain or clear my sinuses, I felt the presence of God with me, directing me to get a clean wash cloth and hand towel, then wheel myself to the kitchen and locate a small ziploc bag. I was able to do this because they were in place and I could find them with my hands. So I wet the wash cloth, saturating it and placed it in the ziploc bag, then microwaved it as God had instructed me and folded it inside the hand towel. I returned to bed with my left side laying on the towel and I could feel the heat against my eye which brought great relief. I was able to get some sleep and though the blindness was still present in the morning, the pain was beginning to dissipate. I missed church, but I knew they were having a communion service today. I texted my church sisters to pray while they were probably washing each others' feet, and within the hour, my sight was restored along with most of the pain. There remains only some slight tenderness and minimal swelling that you can't even see but I can feel it. Hallelujah! God is good! So yes, Jesus is a very present help in trouble!

    6 years ago, Richard Carrier published on youtube: Why the Gospels are Myth. Since then, I’ve been seeing a lot of “The Bible is Mythology.” It cause me to wonder, “were Humans stupid back then,” did they crave a horrible death? Why would anyone follow a “myth” to the Roman Circus; as the persecution of Christians is very well documented throughout Roman history. For that matter, as Mr Carrier acknowledged the historical Paul, why would Saul turn away from his privileged life of wealth and power to join with the persecuted? Hummm!? Keep up the good work!

    Love Expedition Bible. Very exciting. Just a small correction: Diocletian would have been the ruler at that time; Nero was much earlier before the 70AD destruction of Jerusalem. Keep up the great videos!

    One historical version was that Nero burned Rome, ie ordered it burnt but it went farther then expected and rather than be blamed, he blamed the Christians. BTW - I think that you should look at the old movies about the time of Jesus - definitely not the quality of the Chosen, and of a different era and therefore different acting style that was common at that time and therefore cannot be compared to current movies. BUT you would get a look at so many aspects about the early Christians and persecution. Quo Vadis has a great scene of the Colosseum. The Robe. and many more. One reason churches took over some archeological sites many years ago was that archeological sites were or could be taken over by governments to plow under if they so wanted. When religious groups built churches, and churches were "respected", it was harder for governments to just destroy them.....

    How is this inscription dated? A skeptic could assert the inscription could have been added later. Can the patina be carbon dated (like the James Ossuary)?

      Hey! So in Archaeology they take many things into consideration, but with this one specifically there are some interesting things taking place. First the text itself, how it is written and how the language is used. this style of Greek was only used during a certain time and the fact that it Mentions Jesus gives us a better time frame as well. Then we can compare the two crosses found here. One Which is reminiscent of other Early more simpler crosses. while the other one is similar to those found in several other locations at later dates closer to the 4th- 6th Century. So these things and other details lead us to believe the date of late 2nd to early 3rd century makes sense. Hope this helps!

    This is like much other evidence. It is too late to be considered contemporary evidence of the physical existence of Jesus. It is only another piece of evidence for people who believed Jesus had actually existed of which we have much evidence.

    Jesus is a much later incorrect translation of his name. Doesn't take a lot of research to find that out.

  • @SolveEtCoagula93
    @SolveEtCoagula93 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    This is being explained as though it is a recent find - it isn't. It has been known about for centuries. There is, or was, even a church there - a Byzantine one. - probably built around 500 AD - the central aisle of which can still be seen.
    The date of the inscription is HUGELY controversial, since there is no reliable, agreed method of dating it. There are lots of technical arguments about its date, with the academic consensus being that it is most likely to be between 200 and 400 AD.
    There is even disagreement about what the inscription means.
    Sorry to disappoint but, the inscription does not provide any evidence for the story of Jesus, his death and resurrection. It supports the idea that a few hundred years after the event was meant to have happened, there were people who believed that it had. That's not surprising considering that by that time there were plenty of people going around telling the story. At the same time, many people believed that the Emperor was a divine manifestation - people believe strange things!

      Yeah, the transcription is translated to Jesus for us today. But no it wouldn't have been pronounced that way back then.
