  • ►Rear brake pad and rotor replacement on the Porsche 997 911 shouldn't be overlooked. Compared to front-engine cars, the Porsche 997 with the engine in the rear runs more aggressive rear brake bias-because of this, it's imperative to inspect and replace your rear brakes more often.
    The Porsche 997 rear brake kit featured in this video comes with everything you need to complete a brake job at home. The brake pads, rotors, hardware, shims, and sensors are all supplied, taking any of the guesswork out of purchasing brakes for your 997.
    In today's video, Michael Hidalgo, FCP Euro's Professional DIY'er, walks us through the step-by-step DIY process of replacing your Porsche 997's rear brakes.

    Michael, Great video(s) of the front and rear brakes. You make an easy job even easier with your great narrative along with superb camera work from your camera folks. On both videos (front/rear) you mention to check the outside and inside of the rotor for a ridge. However, you don't mention the wear dimples on the outer most part of the rotors, not all rotors have them, but the original Porsche rotors and the Sebro rotors I bought from FCP have them.

    Any adjustment to the e-brake shoe position? Would like to know how to properly adjust these.

    • @fcpeuro
      @fcpeuro  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi John, none that we did on this vehicle as it was fairly low mileage. The process is the same for most European vehicles with the old-style adjuster like these have done through one of the lug bolt holes. We could certainly add this to our queue next time we work on this vehicle.

    Hi does the handbrake need manually adjusting or does it set itself ? Thanks.

    • @fcpeuro
      @fcpeuro  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It is a manual adjustment on the 997 models!

    Using the brake spreader wasn't shown. Are you able to get the pistons all the way back by prying? Wondering which spreader to buy, if any.

    • @fcpeuro
      @fcpeuro  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Dude, the pistons went back far enough with prying. A good spreader for this DIY would be LIS-29100.

      @@fcpeuro Thank you, I just finished and found I also didn't need the spreader, I used 2 small pry bars. Folks watching--don't forget to watch your brake fluid reservoir level. Thank you!

    How do your rotors differ from the factory rotors ?

    • @fcpeuro
      @fcpeuro  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Founded in Germany, Otto Zimmermann has been developing, producing, and selling braking components for more than six decades. Zimmermann offers OE quality rotors for every European make including Audi, BMW, Porsche, and VW.
