I am frustrated. We got new puppy and she is very mouthy and bitty 😊 I give her 3 walks a day, but hard to get her down for the 16 hrs. How do we train her to not jump on our doors like a closet which she can open?
Thanks for the question! Make sure you have a daily routine in place that includes crate time (for naps), exercise pen (where she learns to entertain herself), exercise (sounds like you're doing that!) and practice being in the house with you. Puppies have short attention spans and need a lot of naps. The more mouthy and bitey she gets, the more tired she most likely is. Then when she is out with you in the house, give her a good chew to occupy her mind and energy. Once she's done with that, you can tether her to you for a little training or she can go back in her exercise pen area where she can't get into trouble. Then we start pairing this management with training. Teach her leave it and we can generalize it to the door. We show you how to do this in our Basic Training course (puppy kindergarten.) Happy to help!
Gosh! Thank you… bity, naps, patience, leashes, more sleep. I learned so much in this 8 min, thanks!
You're welcome! Thanks for watching!
