Prior to XY, Hidden Power wasn't just type-determined by your IVs, it was also power-influenced. It could be anywhere in a range from 30 to 70, so even if you got a type you wanted, you would likely get a power you didn't.

Here’s an idea for an challenge: full team of hm slaves using only hm moves, the game is your choice since some hms change between games
Edit: so I’ve heard some of you say that this might be too easy so how about for a little extra challenge, all the hm slaves have to be first stage Pokemon and they all have to be able to learn at least 4 hms so all their moves slots will be filled?

@@ZenoDLC every time I play ruby I use the ralts line. Until you get to level 6 it's boring because it learns confusion at level 6. So yes it's completely possible. I'm doing a ruby play through right now and Gardeviour is op.
Doug and Danny have gone from being Paul Heyman's personal protection force to being a jobber team that was attempting to be MDB's personal protection force, that just fits so well.
The nice thing about having to WAY over level to beat Roxanne is that everything else is easy for a while because you’re so over leveled.

Doug Basham and The Damaja were rivals in OVW a developmental territory of WWE. When they were brought up to WWE proper Damaja was repackaged as Danny Basham and Doug’s brother. They were Tag champs and apart of JBL’s cabinet!

There is a romhack of emerald (Pokémon Emerald: Double Edition) that makes everything a double battle (a lot like pokémon Colosseum and XD:GoD) this video still an interesting challenge by itself but having that extra challenge of EVERYTHING being doubles would add that cherry on top: suggestion using plusle + minun, solrock + lunatone, or Seviper + Zangoose etc in that format.
bro I have to look into this hack. I've started to take an interest in romhacks and emulators in general for some of the team ideas I could never fully realize in a console game (like just being able to play a gen 3 game) but that's what I thought this challenge was going to be! I love the double battle formats in the gcn games, always wished there was another game with double battles like it.

Here’s an idea for a new challenge:
Can you beat Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald, while changing Pokemon after every gym?
(Essentially, before fighting Gym Leader Roxanne, you’ll only be able to have your Starter Pokemon, but then after you beat her, the absolute NEXT wild Pokemon you encounter, you have to catch it, release or deposit your starter, and then use the new Pokemon to fight Brawly.)
You could even spice things up by including Magma or Aqua Admin fights too, to add to the amount of Pokemon you get to use.
Fighting the Elite 4 would definitely be pretty tricky, with just whatever wild Pokemon you caught after the 8th gym.
To make it especially brutal, you could limit yourself and not allow evolutions either.

That’s actually a really cool idea I really wanna see that... although the elite four would be really hard, although he could plan what routes he would go to so it wouldn’t be so random that it was unfair so it could be a possibility

It would force you to have to be very careful about which Pokémon you caught next.
Perhaps the rules could be amended to simply only require you to HAVE a new Pokemon for each gym Battle/Boss Fight. Meaning that you could go through and encounter as many Pokemon as you’d like, until you found the one you need to beat the next challenge.
Or Mah-Dry-Bread could make the play through more skewed into his favor, by using repels to avoid unwanted wild battles.

Coming back to this. I can honestly say this is my favorite MDB challenge.
What I like most about it is Doug & Danny’s relationship. Danny has more power & is more suited for battle, but Doug can handle ground types better & his states are technically better geared for combat. Perfect length, & really compelling from a tag team standpoint
I love Plusle and Minun, I used both of them in a "personal challenge" for myself based on only using the rodent Pokémon of each game to play.
Johto was a nightmare.

Yeah, Pichu Solo. Fortunately I was in 4th generation so I could train based mostly on EV's.
Alola was easier, not because the game itself is easier, but because I used a Togedemaru and the moves of that tiny beast are amazing! Only weakness I had was ground, but thanks to TMs and bruteforce the game was pretty fun and Easy.

Yeah, but the BP is not powerful, that’s what he meant. The on,y reason he beat it is because he was lvl. 100 with that, at lvl. 100 you could easily OHKO anything with almost every move

When you named Plusle Doug, the first thing that popped into my mind was Doug and Danny, but I thought it was simply impossible to be it, and I laughd out when I saw you name Minum Danny, and you are right they are awesome, and for me some of the best of what they do, pretty underrated in their time, but they will have a place in my heart as one of the most technical and strong teams of champions.

When testing Hidden Power against dual types, it doesn't have to do normal damage to both types. It could be super effective against one type and resisted by the other.
Agreed. I think this hidden power is not ice, that's why it only took half bar on altaria.

This is prior to the damage for hidden power being fixed at 60 though. In gen 3 it can be as weak as 30 and as strong as 70. It could simply have been a really sad roll for the damage. I do think it was ice though.

Youre very welcome. Most people didnt use it too much, and it only got fixed damage as of gen 6. So prior to XY, it was a roll for the damage and prior to gen 4 it was physical or special based on type. You can guess why those that tried it prior to gen 6 tended to dislike it... There was a solid chance youd roll less than 50 base power, making it kinda pointless alot of the time.

UniversalStarchild 03 you realize how rng metronome is? Right? I did a butterfree solo challenge for firered and the only way I won was by being so over leveled it was boring until the champion battle where I actually had to think of a strategy. Clefable means he has slightly better stats and won't have to be as over leveled for rng to be in his favor to win
@@passedjudgements4729 I know but using Clefairy makes it a harder challenge and MDB does seem to make challenges harder on himself so it seems more likely he'd use Clefairy over Clefable.
I remember playing Sapphire first and then Emerald and I was so confused to why Steven wasn't the champion.

Plusle and Minun may be kinda weak compared to other Pokémon, but at least they are not the weakest.

Naturally I'm a billion years late to these but I've been watching the playlist and want you to know I thoroughly enjoy them and that every name-flub on pokemon, characters, etc is great and you should never stop, I genuinely enjoy the brief moments of "what???" and then trying to parse out how you came to whatever name conclusion you did. I can't remember if it happened this time round cause I watched part of this yesterday morning and am continuing now, but either way, I love it.
Also theme wise I would've called them Matt and Jeff but that's just personal nostalgia and I can't remember if they were even Good let alone The Best.

I just realized that every Pikachu variant has been used by at least one important character in Pokemon, whether it be the games or the anime. Pikachu has been used by Ash, Pichu has been used by Ben and Summer from Guardian Signs, Plusle and Minun were used by Solana and Lunick, Pachirisu was used by Dawn, Emolga was used by Iris, Dedenne was owned by Clemont and Bonnie, Togedemaru was owned by Sophocles, and Morpeko was used by Marnie.
