I loved your reaction to this classic banger. I think it's adorable that you could hear a love song in that carnage!

It's a love song about his love for gambling.

These guys lived the life that they sang about. Lemmy drank beer, smoked cigarettes, and took speed almost every day. Even after he could afford to move he stayed in the same crummy apartment because it was right around the block from his favorite bar, which was the only place he would consent to do interviews. When being interviewed he usually had a beer and a cigarette, and there was often a topless dancer in the background. He also had a large collection of war memorabilia, mostly from World War 1, that he kept in a warehouse. They usually started their shows by saying "WE'RE MOTORHEAD, AND WE PLAY ROCK AND FUCKING ROLL!"

Lemmy was the singer, bassist, primary songwriter. He was a legendary larger than life character, huge partier, amateur historian, multi faceted guy. Check out the great documentary Lemmy to learn more about him. He said he remembered a time before rock and roll, saw the Beatles at the Cavern Club, was Jimi Hendrix's roadie, sang lead on legendary space rock band Hawkwind's only hit Silver Machine, formed Motorhead when he was kicked out of Hawkwind "for taking the wrong drugs". He let Joan Jett borrow Motorhead's equipment and bullet belt on her first trip to England, hooked up Chrissie Hynde w/ her guitarist, tried to teach Sid Vicious how to play bass. Some other famous early Motorhead songs are Overkill and Killed By Death. I'd suggest listening to 1916 and Orgasmatron to get feel for how broad Lemmy's interests were lyrically and intellectually.

All three of these guys have passed on. Lemmy Kilmeister (bass and vocals), Phil (Philthy Animal) Taylor (drums), and "Fast" Eddie Clarke (guitar). Ironically I finally got into Motörhead a few years after they called it quits (after Lemmy's death). By the way, this song is very much what the lyrics say...it's a song about gambling!

Thank you for the great reaction they were definitely incredible live you might like “ Overkill” as your next song. It was a very sad loss when Ian “ Lemmy” Kilminster passed, RIP 28th December 2015 bass player. Phil “ Animal “ Taylor,RIP 12th November 2015 drummer and “ Fast “ Eddie Clark, RIP 10th January 2018 guitarist. They were amazing together and will all be missed.

Motörhead is one of the founders in Heavy Metal especially with this album. There are some other good songs on it as 'Jailbait' or 'Love me like a reptile'. Anyway they have some other good stuff and may be You can choose '1916' which is a song about world war one! I wish You all the best for good experiences. Much Love to You sweetheart! ♥

Your smile during this song was so infectious as I could tell you were really enjoying this song.
This band and this song honestly changed my life. When I was a young kid I listened to pop music until I came across this song which sent me down a metal rabbit hole that I've never emerged from.
Motörhead was also the first band I ever saw live and I saw them many times after that.
I was heartbroken when Lemmy passed away in 2015. I genuinely thought if one human being would ever live forever it would be Lemmy.
A few other good songs of this band to check out from this band are Overkill, Born To Raise Hell, and Killed By Death.

Motorhead never messed around. They played what they wanted to play, and that was it. Another musician once said, "if Motorhrad moved into the house next door to you, your lawn would die" because their music is so intrnse. They've been called speed metal and thrash metal, but they always started every show with, "We are Motorhead, and we play rock and roll".

Loved your reaction! Fun fact... Philthy (Phil Taylor) was named after Filthy Animal from the muppets (Who was also a drummer). The muppet show with Kermit and co was quite a big thing in the late 70's early 80's. Lemmy became interested in the wild west whilst doing the bomber album (1979) and the themes from that genre influenced a lot of Motorheads music from then on. My favourite motorhead track is probably "Stone Dead Forever" from the "Bomber" album. That album is awesome. 😂

I'm a hard rock fan but Motorhead is not in my wheelhouse. But, I have a respect for them because I saw them live in Europe in the early 80's.
It was an open air festival with a huge major line-up. Unfortunately it was windy and rainy. Most of the acts refused to take the stage.
Motorhead did though. I remember Lemmy pounding his bass and screaming into the mic with water dripping from his windblown hair.
It was so cold that the instruments couldn't stay in tune and it sounded terrible and yet was so impressive.
The other memorable band that took the stage that day was Twisted Sister. Both bands let the no-show bands know they were full of it for not playing.
    I LOVED IT!

Johnny Rivers- Memphis & Poor Side Of Town… For early rock The Yardbirds and Cream.. Eric Clapton was in both bands.. Lots of great songs from both , especially Cream who were only together 3 years but had a ton of hits before Clapton moved on. A Few of some great stuff from 60s to early 70s. LOL

The song is about a gamble card game. "Take one look and die" is a word play for poker face I think. Also that phrase could be a reference to a many stories of people being murdered for getting a good combo in a card game
