Realy good video. Have you tried to scan a fixed object let's say a bowl or something similar? Is it possible to move the kinect by hand around the object or should you use some kind of swivel to keep the the same distance to the object at all time as you did? Best regards Douglas
Hi, thanks for liking this tutorial. Yes, this approach also works well for inanimate objects. (Have mostly done stuffed animals.) It is possible to move by hand instead of the swivel. The results are more consistent with the swivel and the stand for keeping the head stationary during the scan. Hope to post a revised video with a 360 sweep around the object soon.
Brilliant! I am using the version 2 sensor and was using the Windows 3D Scan software that was already on my laptop. It works but it does not give you nominal numbers for the depth chart. This does and it gives more options during scanning. Thanks again
Hello! sorry for my english... i'm french... Realy good tutorial, i love your rotativve build! it's simply and in french: terriblement efficace! like your présentation! thank's a lot!
Thank you SO much for this video! I'm just figuring out how to do 3D scans with my Kinect. Is the one you used a Kinect v2? The one for the XBox One, or is it an older Xbox 360 Kinect? Many Thanks! - David
The Kinect used in this video is the newer V2 Kinect. We started with the older Kinect and older software about 2+ years ago, but get better images with this.
Thank you madam for your nice presentation. I have core i3 processor 10gb ram and usb 3.0 gen1 port but kinect explorer doesn't start only a blank screen is displayed. Please help
@@affrudeenb4438 thanks for your reply. But configuration verifier display that usb 3.0 detected with unknown bandwidth. Do you think this can be problem?
I'm not sure why it wouldn't work. Might be a windows issue or file size problem? Make sure you are running "KINECT Fusion Explorer WPF" and start with a small scan. The STL file this software creates is quite large. Also, make sure MESHMIXER recognizes and opens the STL file that pressing "Create Mesh" makes. Sorry I don't know anymore about what might be the problem. Maybe others have encountered this and can reply.
hello. In this video I used a Lenovo-Z70-80 with i7-5500U CPU 2 2.4GHz processor, 16GB installed memory (RAM) and a 64-bit operating system (running Windows 10)
MyllerSWE, hi. For the video I used Windows 10, but in the past I have used windows 8 and a Mac. I haven’t used windows 7, and suspect that it didn’t work, which was why I had to try windows 8.
Hi. We use the V2 for Windows, but the older sensor works too, as that’s what we started with. There are slight differences in image resolution and field of view.

I really appreciate your to the point presentation. its hard to find such clarity online these days
Okay, that swivel arm? GENIUS!
clearly showed the process, great set up to help with scanning... Props!
You're the coolest grandma I have ever seen. Thank you for this video.
Thanks Jason C. Your welcome. Glad it is helpful!

Thank you for the video! I don;t know why people dislike this. You did verything sooo well!
Can it only make a 180 degree scan of 360 degree?

how do you do to record the mesh, why I press create mesh and make a single capture and not multiple screenshots, help me please ??

Xbox One Kinect on windows 10. Doable. Xbox 360 kinect on windows ten, not so much..
You need to download the Kinect for Windows v1.8 for it to work with 360 kinect. I had issues with 2.# when I was experimenting with it.

No real explanation as to why she changed settings at random!!!
