Few songs better nail the feeling of the oppressive force you face deep within enemy territory. This is one of my favourite pieces of video game soundtrack of all time.
I’m waiting and hoping for a next dkc game where King k Rool and the kremlings come back and invade Kong island and the end of the game you see crocodile island emerge from the ocean insinuating that the next game would the return to the island.
I played DKC2 for the first time circa 2006 after my mom bought a SNES and a lot of games second hand. I was a pretty young, but already an avid Metroid fan, so I knew a thing or two about atmosphere in games, but this one really hit different. This overworld music and the visuals (and the difficulty) gave DKC2 a daunting air not even Super Metroid matched.
Those drums at the begining are too loud compared to the original, they shadow the main bass notes. Still an amazing work, thank you, I waited too long for this song.

Honestly if Nintendo did a graphics update and used these tracks I'd buy a remaster.
