My favorite is honestly the 3rd. The lore drops in that one are too good. My favorite character is easily Olivier. Just such a fun guy to be around. I am anxiously waiting for Daybreak to come out this summer. This is by far my favorite video game series
I am decently far into the series, and I will say that even now I think Sky is truly just something special - a standout from the crowd. I have loved every game so far, but the Sky trilogy just hits so close to home for me. So many amazing characters and outstanding worldbuilding + masterful dripfeeding of things you KNOW are occurring on a grander scale behind the scenes. You know there’s so much yet to discover. Sky 3rd may just be my favorite game of all time. Most characters get a chance to shine, and it paved the road for one of my fav characters ever now, Renne. I knew I was going to enjoy her story from the bits and pieces we got of her inner struggles during her encounters in SC, but 3rd just puts it all out there. I was driven to tears by the end of her conversation with Estelle during the final goodbyes, and wanted nothing more than for the poor girl to be happy. This is a series that makes you care for the characters in an outstanding way that shoots above other popular RPGs in my opinion, and I sincerely hope you enjoy the rest of the series! Long live Trails!
Great review! I love Sky 3rd too and it almost makes my head explode every time someone suggests it's skippable. Sky SC is my favorite came in the arc, but I love them all. The Sky arc is my favorite in the series so fat, although I'm waiting for the official localization for Daybreak. Olivier is my favorite character. He's the absolute best. I love your plan to review the games by arc. Keep in mind that Reverie is at least as much the third Crossbell game as it is the fifth Cold Steel game.
I discovered trails back when i was 15 in 2010 that was an amazing experience I had to borrow my friend's laptop to play the 3rd since I've never had a pc and still don't 😅 man i had so much fun and after playing the series in all of its English releases i can't wait for more 😊
I cant believe you're already on the Crossbell Arc my absolute favorite arc so far loved it and I hope you enjoy it and cant wait to see your retrospective of Crossbell and my favorite Trails in the Sky game is 2nd Chapter I just absoulutely loved that one and how it took everything from the first entry and put it on a larger scale
I wish I could play the series for the 1st time again! The Sky arc is extremely nostalgic to me and I look back at it extremely fondly, even if my favorite games in the series are the Crossbell ones and Reverie. As for the Sky arc, I have to say my favorite game is the 3rd, everyone rightfully says this, but it really sets up so many things, both subtly and explicitly. It's even harder to pick a favorite character, but I have to go with Olivier (even if it's a little bit because of his role in future games :) ).
Estelle is probably my favorite character in the whole Trails series. Watching this makes me want to replay this trilogy of the Sky games. Maybe I'll replay these games a little before Trails through Daybreak comes out. Great review!
Estelle is my favorite protagonist and the second game is my favorite over all (caught up as far as CS III). Having said that, I liked all three, and made some very good points about why not to skip the 3rd game. That door with Renne's back story... agreed, that is a power full run. Oh... and I won't say anything more, but that story arc isn't done yet. Great summary of the three!
Awesome review. I would be very interested to see your reviews of the other arcs as someone who finished all 12 games in the series. One note though: Joshua was sent by Weissman to spy on Cassius Bright and report back to him because Ouroboros were very cautious of Cassius because they knew he could be a threat to their plans. He wasn't sent to assassinate Estelle by this point Ouroboros doesn't know nor care about Estelle.
I absolutely loved FC and I’ve been dangling SC in front of me as motivation to keep on pushing through some crazy real life stuff. Though it’s been so long I may have to replay FC 😅
I can’t pick a favorite game, i know it’s a lame answer but FC and SC are really just one game cut in half heh. 3rd is amazing for just how much seeds it sows. Some of those won’t bear fruit until waaaay down the line and it’s pretty great how far ahead the developers were thinking when designing those games. Glad you like the series, thanks for your thoughts.
Can't blame you playing for a day. I usually play multiple titles but I clear my schedule for a trails game. You got me little more interested in the sky titles. Knowing my weird luck in the world second I grab a steam deck they'll either announce a port of the games or the switch 2.
I would love to be wrong, but I don't think it will happen. Xseed doesn't seem very inclined to do anything with their Falcom properties even if it would make them wheelbarrows full of money.
Enjoyed your video. I’ve been playing through the series in order since September 1, 2023 and am now in the middle of Reverie. My favorite character from the Sky arc is Olivier. ::Spoiler:: I love how he always maintains a unique relationship with the Liberl characters throughout the series because they first get to know the traveling bard.
Nice review of the arc. My favourite character in the arc was Estelle without a doubt. Se grows a lot in those 2 game as a person and as a bracer. My favourite game in the Sky arc was Second Chapter. Third Chapter I liked it, but at first I didn't enjoy it too much because it was very different. It's important to note that the 3rd is not an skipable game. There are things in this game that are referenced even in the most recent games. This is probably one of the most important games in the series. It's both an epilogue and a prologue to the rest of the series. Not sure if you are interested in the side materials of the series. There are at least 3 to 4 things that are actually important and referenced a lot in the games: The manga "The Ring of Judgement" which acts as a prequel to Crossbell (be aware that it has an spoiler for chapter 1 of crossbell so you may want to hold a bit on this one) Also important are the 2 Drama CDs for Cold Steel 1 and Cold Steel 2 (should be played after their own game) Also, a litle side note not related to the Trails series. The autofocus of your camera can get a bit jarring (not sure if this is the word I want to use, I'm not native english). Isn't there a way to put it into a fix focus or something?
I finally finished this arc. (I’m right behind you !) as far as my favorite game it would be SC, but 3rd isn’t far behind it. The only thing I didn’t like in 3rd is the dungeon crawler aspect, but story wise this one made me genuinely sop more. I like Renne, Estelle, Joshua and Olivier and Kevin the most. I can’t choose between these 5. They all had such an interesting growth to them and interesting back story.

Estelle is my favorite character in any piece of fiction ever
She’s definitely a great choice and amazing character!

I’m invested into this series and I can’t wait to see what’s in store in the other titles!
You had me at Trails, so I came 😍
I'm waiting to these come out on the switch to play fingers crossed. I'll have to come back and watch once I've played them.
Yes! I would love to hear your take on the series!

Yes! I totally support that decision!

Yes! Rennes door was a lot!
Sweet review, Feji! I'm keen to play this at some point!
You’ll love the series! It’s an investment but it’s great so far!

I miss Liberl arc só much...
Even i liking more crossbell, this part of the series is very unique.
Ooh I’m excited to see how crossbell plays out then!
I absolutely loved FC and I’ve been dangling SC in front of me as motivation to keep on pushing through some crazy real life stuff.
Though it’s been so long I may have to replay FC 😅
You won’t regret it! SC is an amazing entry!
I'm here for the trails love

Haha I feel like that happens to me all the time! Anytime I get into a title it’s ported to modern consoles 😅
I would love to be wrong, but I don't think it will happen. Xseed doesn't seem very inclined to do anything with their Falcom properties even if it would make them wheelbarrows full of money.

Thanks for letting me know about the camera! I’ve noticed this and I’m currently working on its settings! 😁

I totally understand and agree the dungeon crawler aspect of the Sky the 3rd can get old 😞
Great 😃👍 job
