    You clearly have a decent understanding of EPDM I’d say! To many guys doing EPDM or metal roofs that should not be…

    My Dad has eczema on his hamds from harsh chemicals when he did automotive frame, body, and paint work.

    I had someone measure my roof for estimate today noticed they were walking on the top ridge shingles, does that damage the ridge cap, is it safe to walk on them. I'm hoping he didn't Crack them I have to go up tomorrow to inspect them, are the ridge top shingles prone to breaking if you walk on them directly he was following the top ridge lines walking from one end to the other.

    • @GrandRoofingInc
      @GrandRoofingInc  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It can be, it depends on a few things. If it is supported underneath or not. If it has ridge vent some ridge vent like Cobra will not support it. the cab can you give but the nails will not and pop through. Generally it's not a good idea to.

    • @redfirekla
      @redfirekla 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GrandRoofingInc it's a vented ridge cap I was watching from below and wanted to say something but didn't cause figured it was safe for the shingles and thought otherwise he wouldn't have done it and didn't want to make him mad in case it was safe but just seemed like it wasn't right. Thanks for the feed back I'll have to go examine them tomorrow, hate climbing up there... it should be just cracks I should worry about right

      @Zack.G23 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@redfirekla it’s fine lol the area where the nails go is reinforced, at least in the Owens Corning. I try not to walk on them because it can make them not look as straight from the ground. If it’s a steep pitch he has no choice but to walk on it. There’s a truss at the top on the ridge so if it’s installed nice and tight it can’t really bend and give enough to break

    • @redfirekla
      @redfirekla 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Zack.G23 thanks or letting me know man, ever since I had a tiny tiny leak repaired it took two diff roofing guys to fix actually three with me trying to initially patch it up I'm now super paranoid about getting any additional leaks... I had him measure it for the so called life time decra villa tile metal roof. Like back in the homeland like clay tiles these clay looking metal sheets they say are a life time roof, when I get the estimate I'm going to try to find Brian on Twitter to see if he would look at the estimate to give his expertise on it a conplete breakdown. I wish Brian lived close by so he could do my roof cash payment, Brian is so good and OCD he does an amazing job I've watched all his videos he does amazing work, hard to find people like him.

      Yes Grand Roofing does have a Twitter page as well as Instagram and Facebook. I'm trying to make sure there are other platforms that people know about in case TH-cam shuts it down. I don't get on the other ones very often. Probably the best secondary platform would be Facebook ( Grand Roofing Inc)
      Thanks!

      @@GrandRoofingIncIt's the oil....
      I made a comment on using vinyl gloves above.
      But when you don't and need to take something sticky off your hands baby oil is something that not only removes a lot of oil based products, but it also moisturizes hands and makes them feel really good after you did a hard days work.
      I just cut a cedar tree in my yard today.
      Neighbor helped me and he wore gloves and I didn't. Was covered in sap ( ha, I know didn't take my own advice).....hit with some soap and baby oil came right off!
      I first learned the wonders of baby oil after doing some spraycreting in Florida
      If you ever deal with lye you know it was stay on skin even after a shower ( will burn you and feels like a damn sunburn).
      Take some baby oil in with you in shower and takes right off tho.
      But as I have said like 3 times now, I have finally learned my lesson as far as protective gloves. They cheap and man are they worth it. Besides saving skin, super easy hand clean up. Just a
      a suggestions...
