Joe shows you how to install DuraTech DuraBlack Stove Pipe.
Insert the adapter or Connector section of pipe into the installed ceiling support box. Install it so the seams are in the back. For the stove pipe connector with a trim ring, you will insert the pipe into the support box then slide the trim collar on and slide up to the support box, until it is next to the pipe bead. Using the four pre-drilled holes in the trim collar as a guide, drill 1/8" diameter holes in the support box, and attach using the sheet metal screws provided.
Next you will need to install the stove top adapter into the collar on the stove. You may need to bend in some of the crimped end to help the adapter go into the collar a little easier, it will be a very snug fit. Place adapter on top of the collar and gently tap down into the opening with a rubber mallet, being sure to tap down all the way around.
Slide the first stove pipe section upwards over the adapter. Be sure to keep the seam facing the wall. Push the pipe section upwards onto the adapter. The adapter will go into the stove pipe.
Install the second section of pipe, this will generally be the adjustable piece, on the stove collar or adapter. Note that the bottom of the Pipe Section goes inside the stove collar or appliance adapter. Also, remember to place the seam to the rear of the stove.
Now you can connect the bottom stove pipe to the top stove pipe, slide the adjustable pipe up to see if the stove is in the correct position, you may need to shift it slightly to ensure a plum and level install. Install 3 sheet metal screws at each joint to ensure stability.
You will also want to wipe down the stove pipe to remove any glue or oils from your hands, if the fingerprints are left on the pipe they will be very visible after you use the stove pipe. Also, you may have some light smoking the first couple of times you use your wood burning stove.
DuraBlack must be installed with at least an 18" Clearance to Combustibles. Read all instructions carefully before starting the installation. The DuraVent warranty will be voided, and serious fire, health, or other safety hazards may result from any of the following actions:
• Installation of any damaged DuraBlack component.
• Unauthorized modification of any DuraBlack component
• Installation of any component part not manufactured or approved by DuraVent.
• Installation other than as instructed by DuraVent and the appliance manufacturer.

Why do you need the small adapter on top of the stove? Why can’t you just put the pipe into it?
Is there anything you can use to seal the joints to avoid any smoke leakage?
You don’t need to worry about smoke leakage. The draft will prevent that.
If you have smoke leakage from the stovepipe then you lack sufficient draft. No sealant will remedy that. Either increase the height of the stovepipe or find out what is affecting your draft.
Is there 18” from that single wall pipe to the ceiling? Just curious because I’m installing a stove and trying to figure out how to achieve that clearance
Where is the damper mounted in this setup?
Most modern stoves do not need dampers because they are so air tight.
Does any one know what flashing to use for a pole barn for 6 in pipe, with a metal roof with 1/2 in plywood and tar paper, I was thinking about one of those silicone adjustable flashings, will that be safe with the plywood ? the food is 13 up.

Use a block of wood with the mallet to prevent bending edges. Wear gloves to prevent fingerprints.
Hi, my stove has a lip with a diameter less than 6". I have tried a couple of adapters that don't fin inside the lip. Any ideas?
I cannot believe your not using insulated. Pipe its going to get very hot 🔥 easy burn 🔥 situation and its open to humans ?
So is the stove dude. The idea is to heat the home. If you're scared of a woodstove then use an alternative heat source. Youd literally have to be on top of the hot stove to get burnt by the pipe.
@@ciphercode2298 you can put a fire guard around the stove you cannot do that with the flue. The point of the flue is to get hot to produce good clear draw with a clean burn in the stove. Flue should be insulated.
how do u air seal and insulate it in the attic?

I'm trying to find the stove top adapter on your online store but can't seem to find it. Would I be able to just put the durablack telescoping pipe into the top of my stove? We have a US Stove that has a flue collar assembly.
Thank you very helpful I was wondering if the pipe was supposed to lap that way or not I figured it went the other way so smoke didn't come out but once you mentioned water dripping through it all made sense.😂

Mine has a very loose fit (the slip joint pipe) and I'm afraid smoke will escape the joint. Shouldn't it be a snug fit?
Sorry what smoke from the stove are you kiddng me what is this no health and safety regulations my stove was fitted April first fire up no smoke no burn off from the stove . There something wrong if your getting fumes of your stove,

Anyone know how to install WITHOUT telescoping pipe? I know it'll be difficult, but I'm not sure if I should try to tilt the stove into the pipe or have the stove already connected to the pipe and tilt it all to fit into chimney
did you ever figure this out? I'm trying to do that currently and don't know if there's a special piece to make it work.
@@Rockwell8814 I ended up having to use a floor jack to just lift stove up into pipe and putting a small brick under each leg
That HAS to be the wrong way to install that adapter on the stove. If not, it needs a re-design.
I tried to connect this pipe but I couldn't get it to fit together. We had crimped it a little at the male ends, but it still wouldn't fit together. I can't find any tutorials on the Dura Vent website, nor have they called me back. Does anyone have any suggestions or other tutorials I can watch?
We have a Malm fireplace with a slider pipe, a starting pipe with damper and a 12" short pipe for our installation. Where do you recommend putting the slider pipe at the top near the outside connection or in the middle area above the damper section?

I'm trying to pick the proper adapter for my install, a new wood stove using 6 inch single wall up to an existing square support box with an 8 inch 'hub' projecting down only around 2 inches. This hub appears to be female, as an 8 inch crimped end fits into it, but the 8 inch female does not fit over it. Since the pipe has to be installed crimp down, what's the best way to get there?
BUT with a coal stove the crimp is supposed to be opposite

awesome channel. does it has to be single pipe and not insulated. Also when it go up to the attic and outside, it has to be double insulated, would that be correct?
Single wall inside the house up to the attic is fine. That can even radiate heat itself. In the ceiling and attic it has to be double wall out with gaps determined by your district to combustibles
My starter Pipe fits down on the outside of the stove collar: I'm having trouble finding one....

Dnt forget to talk about how the stove pipe has a coating on it that when it gets hot it lets off a toxic gas that makes u sick as hell.
