Just got a cobalt blue. They were sold out of volcanic red at my GameStop. I think I’ll wait for the Silver for my next controller. I’m also tempted to get the silver plates as well.

@@TitusMHI wanted red but I had to wait a little bit and I needed a control badly because of stick drift. I ended up going with blue on Amazon. I got it today but I have to return it so I might get red instead

This is the blue I've been waiting for. The original blue was insultingly bad, which made me gravitate immediately to the purple when it came out

Pretty sure this is the red most people wanted too. Idk what sony was thinking releasing those first 2 red and blues. Maybe get people to settle for new plates they didn't exactly want, and then get them to buy the good color they actually want later in addition. That's exactly what I did with the reds.

It would be kinda cool if they re-released the older controller colours to make them shinier like the Deep Earth controllers, but I think I still like Cosmic Red and Galactic Purple the most tbh

Maybe for a collectors edition but to actually use naw because if your a real try hard you’ll be having to clean the cracks and crevices almost twice a month playing 2k and cod leaves me with clamy hands sometimes which leads to dirt build up these are facts 😅

For anyone wanting to buy these in the UK. The Volcanic Red is exclusive to Argos and the Cobolt Blue is exclusive to Game.
I equally like both the blue and red but ordered the red to use on my PC (I don't have a PS5).
Volcanic red is my favorite with galactic purple being my 2nd fav

These are SO MUCH BETTER than the original colors
The Cobalt Blue is very similar to, if not exactly the same as, the colour of the official Sony blue DualShock 3 from back in the day.
Both these new’uns are absolutely banging colours to be fair so I’m pulling the trigger on the pair tonight which is nuts because I don’t usually like anything red 😮
The midnight black is always out of stock so annoying but I’ll probably get the dark blue one. Gotta get a new controller dam stick drift so annoying. Plus these controllers are 20 dollars off right now so it’s the best time to buy.
I still have the metallic Blue DS3 . It's ever so slightly lighter than the Cobalt blue Dual Sense. I also have the metallic red DS3, but don't have the Volcanic red Dual sense to compare.
@@Antronix3 interesting thank you, I am so impressed you've still got the metallic blue DualShock 3 to compare with this new DualSense. I have picked up both now, the Cobalt blue from Game and the Volcanic red from Argos, but I ain't actually opened either up yet because of collector's OCD.

Does the blue look as faded as the red in person?
It’s a different number motherboard. It’s Bdm 040. I tried to take it fully apart and can’t figure out how to get the triggers off. Same set up otherwise
You’re right! I noticed a few days later the different trigger housings, although the internals seem the same it is definitely more difficult to take a part but it can be done with a bit of persuasion!

I think the red is better it just sticks out more an I actually like the lighter red at the back reason I don't think it's the same colour all the way over it is the old coloured ps5 controllers mark really bad so dark at the front you won't see it light at the back you will.
Nice video. These new colours have a difference model number. 1B. So we went from 1 to 1A to 1B. There must be something different.
That's interesting. I hope this new model is built better to last longer. I haven't experienced drift in any of my ps5 controllers but I have a few friends that have had stick drift

I have the black controller, and i like the color but its getting noticably worned out, like the places near the buttons are getting shinier, does anyone know if these have the same problem?

I collect PS5 controllers, and the only ones I dont have are the God of War Ragnarok, Lebron James, and the Sterling Silver, which is expected to arrive late January 2024.
Lol I customize and then collect them, imagine my surprise when I ordered a back button kit for the bmd 030 controller and a new controller only to find out it was the bmd 040 controller I didn't know existed AFTER I tore it down, voided the warranty and made it impossible to return😂😢. At that point I decided to just go for it and hope it was compatible, luckily it worked for the most part other than you can't map the joystick buttons to the back buttons, kinda annoying but considering I thought it might not be compatible at all and joystick buttons in most cases won't be needed as back buttons it's not so bad.
Anyone that needs a controller now is the time there 20 dollars off right now. These things are so dam expensive so jump on getting one right now why’ll Black Friday sales are happening. I really like the dark blue I’ll probably get that one.
For volcanic and cobalt I don’t think colors were matched because texture would make gripping controller TERRIBLE!

Your color grade is too warm. It's not accurately representing the controllers color.
I've just bought the volcanic red one,as red is my favourite colour, reduced from £66 to £40...bargain....

@@ryugaroxas from what I’ve seen personally, yes. Idk if it was a performance tweak. But it’s definitely weaker. And it’s lighter by weight comparison

@@ryugaroxas sure did. I can’t find anybody talking about this. So I tested it. They’re lighter. And the haptics feel reduced. My hunch is that they toned it down to prevent the triggers from breaking down so quick. It’s all a theory at this point.

Sony are Real Cheapskates just got the new Blue controller and Only the Top is the new color the bottom of the controller uses a old purple shell from the purple controller color they couldn't even make b9th shells the same color what a JOKE not to mention a friend of mine got his in a Box for Black controller

FYI, PS4 controllers never matched the front with the back colors.
So I wouldn’t take it as a negative if the volcanic red’s front doesn’t match the back.

Yeah. Stick drift sucks big time. I had hoped they had fixed that by now. But of course they would rather you have to buy a new one every six months. If you're lucky, this crappy product will last six months at all.
