I have been re-watching this series. its been a great trip a round orkney. I am visiting friends on the Islands over christmas, I dont think I own enough lures for the trip!. Get a crown funding going for the next orkey series 2023!
That session concluded a great set of vids. Again, well done to both of you for braving the landscape and weather to pull out some really nice fish. Looking forward to your next adventure while I get out and dangle a few early lures myself. All the best and tight lines.
It's not quite over, I stayed on for a couple of days by myself so still have one more video to come. Really glad you liked the trip and hope you've got into some early season fish!! Tight lines👍🎣
I really enjoyed you Orkney fishing not for the faint hearted was a bit of a mission by the looks of it. Congratulations on the monster shore caught pollock you boys dig well can't wait for more videos they are great 😀 👍
Thanks mate. It was a bit of a mission but well worth it. I'll be heading back at some point this year, can't get enough of that place! Tight lines mate 🎣👍
Brilliant again in the orkneys big swells tough marks and howling wind n rain. you always put a great deal of effort into your video's keep them coming tight lines buddy until the next 1 be safe.
Aye, they don't make them like the used too😂😂 I've got a mate who builds dykes in the lakes, skin like leather, hands like shovels and wears a t shirt all year round.
I suggested “Extreme Fishing” last week, Stamina fishing might be more apt Nathan. Some channels make fishing look so easy but this isn’t any channel, thanks guys. 👍
Could be that stamina is a prerequisite to extreme fishing🤔 My ethos has always been to show how it is rather than editing to make me look like a good...there's too many channels that do that. As always, thanks for watching and taking the time to comment👍🎣
That is some epic and stoic fishing, Nathe - and supporting casting ( and catching!) from Lewis! I’ve really enjoyed this videologue of your Orkney adventure. Impressive fishing in a formidable environment. Where next? Ireland?
Thank Gary. Lewis saved the day for this vid, else it would have just been a video of me catching tiddlers, snagged and getting p*ssed off😂 We were meant to be going to Ireland in 2020 but then covid happened. I think another Orkney trip is on the cards for the summer, I know the fish get much bigger than the biggest I caught on this trip, plus it's cheaper and easier to get to than Ireland. Tight lines mate👍🎣
Wow. I didn't notice that! I've just looked back at the raw drone footage and it's hard to tell but I think it's a young seal. Stil way heavier than the fish iI caught
I know, not sure I've dropped that many in a session before. The edge of the mark was covered in kelp so as soon as the fish got in there, I think the kelp was releasing the hook. Not had that before but these were new hooks so think I'll be swapping them out for another brand.👍🎣
4 days out in the cold and wet gets in your head (and your bones) that feeling of having to tie on another bl@#dy leader grinds you down eventually - makes the fish you do catch feel even better though 👍😉
Nothing worse than watching your pal bring fish in all day when you just can't land one 😁 been in that situation once or twice, anyways well done lads looked like a great adventure 👍
i will have to disagree there, i think there is nothing better than to take a pal or family member fishing and to see them catch all day, catching anything myself is just a bonus
Excellent sirs. The sweariest - most tackle lost of your videos so far. Sometimes fishing is hard work with lots of frustrating little disappointments. Hey, at least you didn't blank and you didn't lose all your audio. 🤣🤬🤣 Work is keeping me far too busy to chance a fishing trip but I WILL get out there soon. Will there be another (solo) Orkney vid? Loving the scenery (tho not the weather much - lol)
Haha, normally this type of thing just rolls off my back but, for some reason, not on this day. There will be one more video, probably dropping mid week. Hope you get out soon!
Have ye sorted out the line wrapps around the eyes im sure you've taught of everything i was thinking if your getting line twists from the metals if so a better swivel might be needed. Great vids
It could be the metals I'm using but they don't really spin. think I know what the problem is, the braid I'm using is 0.6pe and the rod is rated from 0.8pe so maybe the line is too light🤔
How do you find the Tailwalk? Clearly it can handle some awesome pollock looking at a couple of your other videos. What does Lewis use? I have a Major Craft Triple Cross 5-25gm as my wrasse rod, but want something heavier for pollock in deep water from the rocks. Great videos by the way😀
Thank you, that's high praise!! Most other half's walk out when fishing vids are on the TV. Give predatortackle.co.uk a look, they had them there a few days ago. It's called the Spro Multi Stocker XL
Great vid but tough day at the office. I was wondering what you wear on your feet for fishing these wet rocks? I was always taught to stay off the rocks if they’re wet like that
Aye, it was tough going. I wearing some Scarpa approach shoes, which have sticky rubber soles, bit have added some Supaspikes studs to the sole, makes being on the wet rocks a lot safer. Hope this helps👍🎣
Bloody amazing coastline and your mate is quite handy with the fish. . At least you didn't blank ! Is the tip eye a bit different than your old rod? Still looked a crackin day out tho. . . Tight lines mate 🎣🎣
He catches a few, I taught him all he knows😂 (just trying to make my self feel better) He's got a canny Instagram account, if you're on there. I think my line weight has something to do with it, I use 0.6pe line but the rod is rated from 0.8pe, and all of my other rods were rated lighter than this one.
@@SlippyLimpets Ha Ha love it mate. . I use that excuse when Jill out fishes me😁 (it's the truth tho !) Ah keep at it and you'll get used to it. . . ! Still great vids and love watching em, keep em coming and Tight lines 🎣🎣👍
You realise if you go back in June, the weather will be just the same 😉 - thank you for sharing again. How many hours footage do you have from a typical day (in total as you use multiple cameras)?
Haha, more than likely, I've been in August and it was just the same as feb. That's a good question, just had a look for this day and I have 235 files totaling 3;59.02 across all cameras
Nathan - please check your inbox. I've asked if you can help Marcin Kantor with his effort to support people suffering because of the war. I'll watch this now but please see what you can do to give a heads up to your subscribers about his appeal. I know there will be crossover between your channel and his - two awesome channels. He's running a raffle and I know he will make a difference - he's an awesome guy. dave

Haha, that's a good idea! I upped the braid breaking strain to 20lb and I lost a lot less tackle. Hope you get amongst them👍🎣
Excellent video guys. Orkney is beautiful.
It is a stunning place, it almost makes St Abbs look ordinary!

Orkney is exactly that, especially in winter. Thanks again Robert and tight lines buddy 👍🎣
What a tough session for you lads.it wasn't for the lack of effort.well done to you both.really enjoyed this one.thanks nath.tite lines as always.
Aye we had some bad luck this day, but then that's fishing. Tight lines!👍🎣
See you like it. Please post more videos. Thank you for sharing the good video. wish you a lot of health 👍
Thank you, glad you like them and, don't worry, there's more to come! Stay safe and tight lines🎣👍
Good fish caught guys, that no tough conditions guys, try building stane dykes for 25 years 7 days a week, lol Ally
Aye, they don't make them like the used too😂😂 I've got a mate who builds dykes in the lakes, skin like leather, hands like shovels and wears a t shirt all year round.
Thanks for the time and effort, It didnt look easy man.....
No worries, my pleasure!!
Everything about that was brilliant. I'll sithi after! Dave.
Thanks Dave 😀👍🎣
Love the Morning Tide references 😂 Top marks for effort lads, looks like tough fishing.
If only I could catch fish like those boys do!! All i could get were biiig snags😂
Hard fought and fairly won. Can't fault the effort you put in :)
Not the easiest of days but still enjoyable, despite the frustrations.
Awesome vid as always Nathan bud!!
Thanks buddy!!
awesome stuff guys!
Thanks!! 😊
💜👍💜👍🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣,,,,,so frustrated you both must be ......lovely drone footage👍👍👍👍 can't guess how much gear you lost....many thanks for the video👍👍👍
Aye, it was a tackle hungry trip!! Think I lost about 26 lures over 6 days 😒
@@SlippyLimpets that's a lot of gear....
It is, luckily those metals cost around £1.20. I'd be bankrupt if they were Fiiish lures😂

Used have pollock at 40ld at the fish market where i used to work imagine pulling that in
I can't even comprehend a pollack of that size! Just hooking in to 10lber seems a bit daunting considering how much they fight
Christ did you see the fish lower right at 4.48 I wonder what weight that would of been great vid Nathan
Wow. I didn't notice that! I've just looked back at the raw drone footage and it's hard to tell but I think it's a young seal. Stil way heavier than the fish iI caught
No wonder Lewis went home, his back must have been aching from carrying you mate 🤣🤣👍🏻
You got one in the end! Looked hard going that like 🥴
Aye, he went straight to the physio when he got yem 😂😂
Wow.. what was all those dropped fish about lol? Thanks for another great video. Love watching your lure fishing nearly as much as doing it myself :-)
I know, not sure I've dropped that many in a session before. The edge of the mark was covered in kelp so as soon as the fish got in there, I think the kelp was releasing the hook. Not had that before but these were new hooks so think I'll be swapping them out for another brand.👍🎣

Loved the ‘lot better than the none ive already had’comment 😂cheers for the vid, looked like yous had a good day out 👍🏼
It was a good day but tough going at times. Thanks as always Sloth👍🎣
4 days out in the cold and wet gets in your head (and your bones) that feeling of having to tie on another bl@#dy leader grinds you down eventually - makes the fish you do catch feel even better though 👍😉

Good effort lads, working hard for very little reward, 👍 but that's why they call it fishing not catching, 🙃 it's enough to make you drink! 🍺🍷

Yeah there is, I've not tried it but the locals say you can get anything from cod to skate there
