  • It’s hard to believe that after 3.5 years, this will be our final passage in our beloved Pearson 367, Varuna! After sailing 2600 miles from Hawaii, we close in on our final destination in Washington State, reflecting on the passage before making landfall in Port Angeles.

    Big couple of months, Central America, Hawaii and North....North America TWICE..... Few months back now in your timeline..... You both must be relieved. Good luck selling Varuna, she has quite a bit of Blue Water pedigree now so hopefully she finds a good home.... I too thought the worst when I saw the notification (arrives middle of night to Oz). I have been along for the ride since you started the channel.... Always look forward to your vlogs.... 🥂🥂 Hillary and Ty

    Great video! Absolutely love Victoria!
    Checking in with our sailboat was easy-peasy. The customs dock is right next to the fuel dock and took all of 10 minutes. Your results may vary…

    Just stay out of the way of the Sea-Planes, they get cranky.

      It was a beautiful city! I'm sure customs would have been pretty easy, but like you said - you never know! There sure were a lot of sea planes.

      You know when to expect it, of course hope for it not to happen but if you have a boat designed for blue water your fine.. eg. I think coopers are bad boats for that, can't remember but avoid any boat with a companion way flush with the cockpit floor.

    • @robertorzech2466
      @robertorzech2466 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AdventureAdriftSailing Yes that is super advice. I've noticed some cruisers keep a board or two in the gangway/doorway, that they have to step over as they go in and out to the cockpit. Cheers

    Great video, amazing how much the seastate can change in 12 hrs. I know several years ago you put in a 12v Sun Pure watermater on Varuna. I may be in the market for a watermaker and all the Sun Pure models look affordable- can you describe your experience with the Sun Pure watermaker - pros and cons, things you might have done differently.

    • @AdventureAdriftSailing
      @AdventureAdriftSailing  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Can't think of many cons off hand, if we could figure a way to go for the 1hp motor off an inverter we would, better power handling OR lithium batteries. Basically the AGMS are not good for high loads and a different battery make up.

    Hi - Martin in Port Alberni ( Vancouver Island, Canada) - so you landed in Port Angeles, then took the Black Ball ferry over to Victoria ---- to rent a car? Well - OK - I'm over you guys not stopping to see me ( I'm a swell guy) - but why the car rental in Victoria ( because our dollar is less than 75 cents US ?) or you prefer odometers in KM rather than Miles ?

    • @AdventureAdriftSailing

    • @AdventureAdriftSailing
      @AdventureAdriftSailing  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Coast into Port, only if arriving from another country would we notify CG but we do reach out if we feel it would be courteous. Some countries demand more regular check in.
