      I also think when he talks, it brings up things that are close to his hart, very complicated guy. Cliff isn't far from his thoughts in any conversation, that's got to be tough.

      That's because he is the hippie in the band. He's like the Grateful Dead or Plant in Led Zeppelin. Always mellow, respectful and nice to other people. He's the one who was nice to Jason while the others played the role of vicious SOB's while he was improving the band and doing his best. Yup Kirk is cool and of COURSE he love´s Hendrix. Hippie #1. Hard metal = Hendrix + Zeppelin + punk. There all good to me! As Ozzy would say ' Peace and love!'

      Yeah he's one of my favorite too but is he up there with the best guitarists ...yeah i think he is....people on the internet just shit on him to much because he's not dave mustaine or he doesnt play it exactly the way they want him too...the worse is when they don't even play guitar or gig. Its inevitable that humans make mistakes but also need to explore creatively especially if your musician because as a musician your an artist... If your not playing with different tones and exploring different ways to play your stuff you might as well be a robot.

You do know that happens when you have over a hundred solos on your phone, you don't know about how to back up your phone and you lose your phone and have to come up with shit at a moments notice. Good luck trying that. He had some great solos on Death Magnetic and Hardwired actually had some pretty decent one's as well given the circumstances.

    • @frigglediggle2
      @frigglediggle2 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Everyone mentions the lost phone, but I say that's horseshit.. Just because he didn't show up day one with 250 riffs, they toss him under the bus? He's practically an original member of the band. IMO that's just not how a band should create music. One or two guys write the stuff, the other two are just puppets. That's like Megadeth style... He's obviously capable, just listen to some of his lead work on the album. Hopefully they don't dick him over next time. Makes me sad to see that Metallica seem to be creating a product to sell, not a collaborative work of art like the old days.

      David Soule Kirk has has several writing credits through the years, but it's always been a predominantly Hetfield/Ulrich show when it comes to songwriting. I mean, it's their band, after all.
      That said, Kirk's solos on the new record, unfortunately, are nothing new or interesting, which is a shame because i otherwise really dig the new album. If the weak solos are any indication, then maybe whatever ideas Kirk did bring into the sessions just weren't good enough?

    See when i was kid backstreet boys, nsync and music like that was popular and i listened to it. Then some friends and family showed me some rock like aerosmith and nirvana etc. Then i found metallica and here i am 13 years later....

    He’s right about Jimi Hendrix and Cream, The song Machine Gun is very Heavy,Makes the hairs on the back of neck stand up on end. Grand Funk Railroad’s Paranoid on their red album from 1969 is a monster heavy metal song.

    Someone can feel free to correct me, but to me, what's always made Metal unique is it's fan base. At every concert I've ever been to, ive found myself talking with someone I didn't even know as if we had known each other for years. Metal fans seem to be the kindest of fan bases. I could be wrong but for me, I gravitated to metal because I felt as though I was part of some gigantic family

    Kirk is such a sweetheart but I think a lot of bands are better when they have a ying and a yang relationship like James and Dave had the two personalities bring more textures and depth to the music

    I would like so much to hear an interview with Kirk where he honestly says why he was moved away from creating the newst album. I have a feeling it could be Lars` decision sort of revenge because Kirk founded his KHDK startup - see Jason`s case... I dont think it was about losing an iphone full of riffs. We will know some day...

    Heavy metal is a culture because its members have been cast out or feel cast out. We come together to form the family or group that we didnt otherwise have.

    Those who like Kirk usually appreciate and enjoy various genre of music.
    Those who can't stand Kirk, well, can't get him out off their mind, either. Hate him all you want, flame him with all your shit, he's not going anywhere. MetallicA will keep on producing music with him, and there's nothing you can do about it but listen. Puke, vomit, curse, smash your headphones afterwards, you will always come back to them.. and him.
