[Fact] The VA of Acrobatic Silky, Kikuko Inoue, have a personal connection when recording the part where she running chasing her daughter that being taken away. 20 years ago where she, Kikuko Inoue, was on vacation with her daughter (6 yo) at a tropical resort. While playing in a large hotel pool, she briefly left her daughter unattended to retrieve something from their room, thinking it was safe because her daughter was just splashing around in the shallow part of the pool. On her way to the room, she realized the pool had areas where even adults couldn’t touch the bottom. In a moment of dread, she imagined her daughter accidentally moving into the deeper section and drwning while she was away. Overcome with fear, she sprinted back to the pool as fast as she could, her thoughts racing with anxiety and guilt over leaving her daughter alone. Although nothing tragic happened, the raw emotion and panic of that moment stayed with her vividly. When recording the scene, she drew on this memory to channel the overwhelming fear, desperation, and physical exhaustion of a mother terrified for her child. She remembered the sound of her own breath and heartbeat during that sprint 20 years ago and used it to guide her performance.
@@24nero24 No in the manga at the end of Chapter 17 AcroSilky is holding her daughters hand in the afterlife with a bubble that says "May they be together again in peace." Daughter's death is assumed to have happened "off screen" (not exactly a pleasant thing to draw imo), nothing more has been mention of her as of Chapter 175 either.
A few insights to clarify some things: - All Yokai have tragic backstories. It's part of the job, so to speak. If they didn't, they wouldn't be Yokai in the first place. "DanDaDan" is basically one of those stories that takes this reality head on. - 8:03 The men who took Silky's daughter were Yakuza. Apparently Silky was in debt with them (we don't know how, though), and that's why she was taking multiple jobs, including working as a prostitute. What makes it more tragic is that it's implied she took some of the money she was supposed to give to the Yakuza to pay for the dress. And despite what some media may show you, the Yakuza don't fuck around. They took her daughter as "compensation" and (be ready, the tragedy is about to get even worse. Skip to the next paragraph if you don't want your heart to be even more broken) the most probable thing they did to her was to essentially kill her to traffic her organs, which is something the Yakuza do in real life. - 8:29 The dance she does on the roof was to essentially end her own life. It is implied that she was originally a professional ballerina, but she had to give it up to raise her daughter. But she still uses ballet as a way to bond with her. However, once the Yakuza took her daughter, she knew she wouldn't see her ever again. So she has no reason to keep on living. Thus, she takes one final ballet dance... and jumps to her death with her last leap. In the anime they tone it down considerably, since suicide is a specially touchy subject in Japan, but it's much more clear in the manga, where they show her clearly jumping off the roof. In the anime, the roof edge is shown for only a few frames (so few, it's literally "blink and you'll miss it") to make it a bit more ambiguous. But that "thud" sound makes it clear if you know what's going on. - 9:16 Yeap, Silky was already dead at that point. Now, this requires a bit of cultural explanation: the reason why Aira can see her is because in Japanese Shintoism, children under the age of 7 are believed to be half-spirits. As in, their souls haven't evolved into fully human just yet. Thus, they have a stronger connection with the spiritual world, which in fiction is shown as the ability to see ghosts. And that's exactly what happens here: Aira, who is supposed to be 5 or 6 years old at this point, sees Silky's spirit believing it was her mum. Silky, who is an errant spirit at this point, gets her memories all jumbled out of this contact. Silky confuses Aira with her own daughter and that triggers her transformation into a full-blown Yokai. In case you are wondering, the aforementioned believe about children under 7 came about due to the ridiculously high infant death rate Japan used to have in ancient times. It was a way to give some solace to grieving parents, believing that their dead children would enter the afterlife and rest in peace by default. - 12:12 Indeed, both Aira and Momo got to see Silky's memories during the aura connection. That's why Momo was crying her eyes out and Aira knew how to tell her what she needed to hear to rest in peace, not to mention that they essentially filled each other's void, even if for just a moment. Okarun didn't get to see any of it, for obvious reasons, but our boy is emotionally intelligent enough to read the room. As for Turbo Granny, she didn't get to see it either, but considering her backstory, she likely had a pretty good idea of what it was like. She's seen so many young women with endings just as tragic as Silky's, if not even more so, that now she's completely jaded. And last, but definitely not least: don't worry, "DanDaDan" will go back to be a wholesome series next episode. Just... keep in mind that you will get a tearjerker every once in a while.
You probably meant Errant Spirit. Errant means wandering aimlessly or straying from the correct path. Errand means to go on a short trip for a specific purpose.
My husband and I actually think we figured out Silky's complete story solely from context clues. She's clearly a dancer, which you usually need to go to school for. School is expensive, so she'd probably need to take out a loan. If she was too young, it's possible a bank wouldn't give her a loan, so she had to turn to a shadier option: the Yakuza. She gets the loan, and gets into school for dance, but lo and behold, she ends up pregnant and has to drop out. The father likely either doesn't know, or didn't want anything to do with the baby. So now she has a loan to pay back and a baby to take care of - and her daughter is her world, gets her through all the hard times, and keeps her love of dance alive. But when she's short on a payment to the Yakuza, they take her daughter to settle the difference, and she loses the one thing worth living for. Absolutely brutal, and masterfully executed with barely any dialogue.
IKRR I JUST FINISHED WATCHING ARCANE AND NOW I HAVE TO HAVE ANOTHER HEARTBREAK AFTER WATCHING THIS EPISODE OF DANDADAN .... I NEED THERAPY FOR MY EMOTIONAL WELLBEING
So after some investigation we can conclude that the flashback happened in 1989. The money is Series D 10,000 yen bills, which started production in 1984 and stopped production in 2004 - you can tell by the round empty space in the middle of the bill. The bills produced after that have an oval shape. Also, the only years during that period when October 25 fell on a Wednesday are 1989, 1995, and 2000. Additionally, Acro Silky uses some old fashioned words like "tsuppari" meaning "bad boy or girl", and "ottamage" meaning "surprised" - which were more common in the 80s than the 90s. So we can pretty safely say that Acro Silky's daughter was kidnapped on October 25, 1989. She was 5 years old, so she would have just turned 40 a month ago. Acro Silky had been wandering around as an aimless spirit until 10 years ago, when Aira mistakes her for Aira's mom. Another extra-heartbreak detail: When they have their curry dinner for Acro Silky's daughter's birthday, Acro Silky has less curry and her daughter has an extra-big serving.
Jesus, that's some serious research. Kudos. That would mean Silky was an errand spirit for around 30 years before Aira found her. That was probably longer than she was actually alive. And then spent a full decade as a Yokai. Jesus...
@@Brown_Jesus53X It's not a big deal. The Yen thing is a big giveaway if you've handled more recent bills, because it's a really obvious difference. The vocab stuff from Acro Silky really just sounds like she came out of an 80s movie if you know a bit of Japanese.

Although the daughter’s fate is left vague, the implication in the manga is that the child died not long after she was taken away, as the mother reunites with her real daughter after her spirit is laid to rest.
I was right there with you absolutely UGLY CRYING. I just saw this episode today, I have a 9yr old daughter and also 7 mo pregnant and EXTREMEMLY emotional this time around. I called my daughter and said that I loved her and gave her the biggest hug when she got home
I don't have children, I'm not even close to having them, I'm just the older sister of 3, and I still cried for 30 minutes after the chapter. It was so beautifully and painfully presented how cruel and evil human beings can be.
That thump, was the mother jumping off that metal tower with a ladder in that one shot... manga also suggests the daughter died fairly young as well but they got to rest in peace ultimately, not being forgotten.
@GriseWeisshark k so what was the thing with the metal ladder attached to it? Looks like a metal tower. You know that hospitoals put metal towers on top of their buildings, radio towers... that come with a ladder... like in that shot...
I know when I watched this I ran to call my partner and ask how my daughter was doing (she's 9). I damn sure told her I love her. I'm also 7 mo pregnant extremely emotional and sobbed while watching. I did not handle it any better than her lol. I also gave my girl a hug when they came back home
Its pretty subtle and you don't pick up on it til a rewatch, but the ep opened with the chase from later in the episode because Silky was having flashbacks to her life, thinking that Okarun and Momo were the ones who stole her daughter, bless her whole heart
I'm not a manga reader, but the moment this episode opened with a realistic 1st person POV of a frantic mother, I knew this episode's gonna hit hard...but damn they used a sledgehammer!
Remember episode 5 when the show took a giant left turn and suddenly became a high school drama? That's the fun thing about this show. They're not afraid to really switch things up genre-wise.
I haven't cried this hard ever since To Your Eternity, this episode absolutely BROKE ME! I still get kinda teary when I hear the piano of her last dance. Seriously, WHAT IS THIS ANIME???
Another perfectly crafted episode, with a few points worth mentioning: 1.From the money on the bedside table and the room's setup, we can infer that being a sex worker was one of her many jobs (this shows her willingness to do anything for her daughter). 2.From the comic, we learn that after waking up, she realized she had lost her daughter, which led her to jump off the building. 3.She actually became a wandering ghost for quite some time, having forgotten everything. Later, it was the touch of the pink-haired girl that brought back her memories, transforming her from an ordinary ghost into a vengeful spirit. Truly heartbreaking.
Its hard to piece it together just from the episode but, the moments when the mother is performing the dace at night as she leaps forward shes actually jumping from the top of a building to her death
In the manga, they reveal how she actually dies. She survived her injuries from what happened in the house. But due to grief, she chose to kill herself by jumping off a building. The scene where she is dancing under the stars is her dancing on the rooftop of the building.
It's not shown in the anime but the manga is... I explain: the scene with the water and the reflection of the stars with the mother dancing above... It's not JUST water. It's the roof of a building. And when she jumps, I think I don't have to explain it, everyone understood... That's why afterwards she remembers her daughter before seeing black and hearing a "crash"...
I’ve watched a lot of anime, and I don’t think anything has made me ugly cry as much as this episode. I have a 3 year old daughter who means the world to me.
My friend and I both watched this relatively close to one another and we were both absolutely shattered by the end of it, I was so stunned with how the trajectory of the story and tone had been thus far we had a glimpse into something so tragic. Beautiful storytelling, beautifully animated, the music makes me cry every time and I remember after watching it all I could think was "Oh god this is going to destroy Carmen." I love this show so much even when it hurts me like this 😭
8:03 I... don't think you want the answer to that question. It's a dark world we live in. Let's just try to find solace in how the two of them are hopefully reunited now.
So real this anime is a masterpiece. It hits every extreme you can think of from weird to emotional to funny to frustrating everything. It's an experience for sure
This hits HARD....bc there are almost ZERO dialogue, just 2 words between mama and daughter, and still tells a beautifully sad story....that's is soo good
Ep 7 took DanDaDan to the next level for me. It was already the most unique, funny, fresh anime out there, and to so easily flip the switch and bring tears to my eyes with one of the most beautiful episodes of anime since Frieren? Best new anime of the season!
I am so sorry to break this to you. That thud sound after she was dancing depicted that she jumped off the building and ended her life, that's the reason she was shown like that after the blackout, as she was already gone!
I have literally watched this not only on my own, but have watched 4 other people do reaction videos on it and It makes me fucking cry EVERY SINGLE TIME! 😭
Idk how many times have I watched this episode (I like watching content creators react to series's episodes that I liked a lot) and man, every time I watch this Ep I cry, I already knew what was going to happen from reading the manga but the way they animated this and the soundtrack just hits hard AF, also, there are even sadder stories in the manga that will hurt a lot in anime
I started reading Dandadan a couple years ago. I’ve read through the stories multiple times now. Even after all of that….this episode…. I thought I was gonna have to go to the hospital to get a fluid IV. I was sobbing. Uncontrollably. Dandadan is one of the best mangas SJ has ever put out. Period.
Was patiently waiting for this after watching Carmen's reactions from episode 1! And her reactions for this episode were definitely what I expected, especially the hug scene. 😭 Also made me cried again, re-watching the same episode even though I watched it several times already from other reaction videos.
Yea i hasnt cried in like 15 years and watching this episode I had tears running down my cheeks because I lost my mom as a teenager so this destroyed me.
Actually she didnt die of her injurys, did you notice at the end of her Dancing If looked Like she was falling and then it went black and a loud thud was Heard. Yeah, she jumped Off a building
Some people think it was wrong of Silky to even meddle with the Yakuza to begin with. She put her own daughter in harms way. She should have known better, but shit happens. It's a tough one. I grew up with a single mom working multiple jobs, but I know she would never have gotten involved with a gang. It's kinda just setting y'all both up for a shitty situation sooner or later.
Everyone who read the manga always compare it to future episodes believing it’s going to be more trauma or more emotional than episode 7 and I’m here to say that the emotional impact will hit the same, possibly a little more, if the anime does it correctly and adds more to it. All the backstory tugs the heartstrings. Also to add Elaine should read the manga of episode 7 to completely grasp what happened especially the ballet off the roof scene.
I waited you watch episode 7. I satisfied your reaction, and the fact you easily understand the situation. This anime has comedy, creepy side, dark background story, nice character design.
Something that absolutely crushed me after watching the flashback scene again, the envelope the yakuza is holding when they take Silky’s daughter is the one she takes money out of when she’s buying the dress. She probably knew that she might face consequences for doing that but it made her daughter so happy 😭
Also like, there seems to be a theme here. Turbo Granny would show up at places were girls were assaulted and killed, and now Acrobatic Silky has this? DanDaDan author is a villain
welcome to Dandadan, you came for the amazing figths and crazy comedy, you stay for the wholesome romance and the heartbreaking, and belive me this is probably just top 3 saddest part until now, if this show contines probably woud get One Piece levels of soul crouching backstories

@GriseWeisshark k so what was the thing with the metal ladder attached to it? Looks like a metal tower. You know that hospitoals put metal towers on top of their buildings, radio towers... that come with a ladder... like in that shot...
And yes, they use radio to communicate to helicopters, so dont
Call your mom and tell her that "you love her" right now
.
I know when I watched this I ran to call my partner and ask how my daughter was doing (she's 9). I damn sure told her I love her. I'm also 7 mo pregnant extremely emotional and sobbed while watching. I did not handle it any better than her lol. I also gave my girl a hug when they came back home
No
Its pretty subtle and you don't pick up on it til a rewatch, but the ep opened with the chase from later in the episode because Silky was having flashbacks to her life, thinking that Okarun and Momo were the ones who stole her daughter, bless her whole heart
Hey cool insite thank you
I'm not a manga reader, but the moment this episode opened with a realistic 1st person POV of a frantic mother, I knew this episode's gonna hit hard...but damn they used a sledgehammer!
OH I CLICKED RIGHT WHEN I SAW THE NOTIFACATION!!
Same, also the look of joy when she starts the video 😬😭
To see how carmen is cooked?
Remember episode 5 when the show took a giant left turn and suddenly became a high school drama? That's the fun thing about this show. They're not afraid to really switch things up genre-wise.
Yeah she was NOT ready for this. Hell I read the manga and even I teared up this episode.
As a parent this episode broooooooke me. I rewatch every single episode multiple times and I cannot bring myself to watch this one again.
In the original story, Aksara is characterized by long hair and a large hat
It's there to hide a broken head
When you said “this is gonna cook me”, us too fam 💀
Idk if bro is laughing or crying, but 100% suffering
"Over a show? Could not be me. 😂"
"Me personally, I wasn't really effected. 😂😂"
Laugh away the pain
I haven't cried this hard ever since To Your Eternity, this episode absolutely BROKE ME! I still get kinda teary when I hear the piano of her last dance. Seriously, WHAT IS THIS ANIME???
Another perfectly crafted episode, with a few points worth mentioning:
1.From the money on the bedside table and the room's setup, we can infer that being a sex worker was one of her many jobs (this shows her willingness to do anything for her daughter).
We all were waiting for this. I was going to enjoy seeing Carmen devastated by this chapter, and then I cried for the 10th with the last scene.
Its hard to piece it together just from the episode but, the moments when the mother is performing the dace at night as she leaps forward shes actually jumping from the top of a building to her death
The joy the daughter had for her mother when she greeted her at the door.. I knew this was gonna be a heart breaker
The messed up part is that kid is dead as a child and in the manga she reunited with her mother 😭
I never cried so much during an anime this episode got me lol
Don't worry, we all cried.
Idk why, Junpei being a collateral was so damn funny😭
Everyone before episode 7: 0:09
Everyone after: 11:06
Nice
For real 😅
Honestly, it really cries me a lot. Much more than grave of fireflies. 😭
I saw the thumbnail, sipped my coffee like a villain and said "Finally, she's arrived"
My friend and I both watched this relatively close to one another and we were both absolutely shattered by the end of it, I was so stunned with how the trajectory of the story and tone had been thus far we had a glimpse into something so tragic. Beautiful storytelling, beautifully animated, the music makes me cry every time and I remember after watching it all I could think was "Oh god this is going to destroy Carmen." I love this show so much even when it hurts me like this 😭
Your reaction to shows like this is just... Truly special. Thank you for understanding. You're a magnificently kind human
8:03 I... don't think you want the answer to that question. It's a dark world we live in. Let's just try to find solace in how the two of them are hopefully reunited now.
0:47 "i'm fine, i'm sure it'll be fine"
10:24 :
This got me too . Was not expecting this show to shut me down for a day
Her: "What was that!?!?!
Dan da Dan: "But wait, there's more!"
So real this anime is a masterpiece. It hits every extreme you can think of from weird to emotional to funny to frustrating everything. It's an experience for sure
This hits HARD....bc there are almost ZERO dialogue, just 2 words between mama and daughter, and still tells a beautifully sad story....that's is soo good
I just loved the "me personally, I'm not really affected" followed by a river of tears xD
12:30 "this better be like one sad episode that ever shows up", yes at least this season, I think
Ep 7 took DanDaDan to the next level for me. It was already the most unique, funny, fresh anime out there, and to so easily flip the switch and bring tears to my eyes with one of the most beautiful episodes of anime since Frieren? Best new anime of the season!
She was jumping from the top of the building when she was dancing
12:34 Yep, as a manga reader, I confirm😏🤫
True that
If Unji's story got animated, everyone will cry their hearts out again.
@@Sentry1114 Vamola and Evil eye too.
@athulhapz5791 but I'm shocked at Unji, man. I know what it felt like because we're the same.
@@Sentry1114yea I was choking up reading that one
"I dont want to know their backstories"
nah bro, get destroyed XDD
There's a manga panel where both Mother and daughter meet in the afterlife... The daughter didn't lived long enough after she was taken....💔💔💔
You're not the only one that teared during this scene. 🥺🥺
I had to come to your channel for this episode bc I’m a 33 year old grown man and this shit fucked me up 😂. Love your videos Carmine!
Episode was so heart warming you're gonna enjoy Episode 8
I am so sorry to break this to you. That thud sound after she was dancing depicted that she jumped off the building and ended her life, that's the reason she was shown like that after the blackout, as she was already gone!
5:47 realest thing I’ve heard on a reaction😭😭🙏
I have literally watched this not only on my own, but have watched 4 other people do reaction videos on it and It makes me fucking cry EVERY SINGLE TIME! 😭
SAMEEE, you would think i would get desensitized by how many times i saw this by now, but *nope!* i'm crying every time 😭😭
Idk how many times have I watched this episode (I like watching content creators react to series's episodes that I liked a lot) and man, every time I watch this Ep I cry, I already knew what was going to happen from reading the manga but the way they animated this and the soundtrack just hits hard AF, also, there are even sadder stories in the manga that will hurt a lot in anime
Watching the reacting to this has me gasping for air crying🥲
Here we go ladies and gentlemen
CINEMA
I started reading Dandadan a couple years ago. I’ve read through the stories multiple times now. Even after all of that….this episode…. I thought I was gonna have to go to the hospital to get a fluid IV. I was sobbing. Uncontrollably. Dandadan is one of the best mangas SJ has ever put out. Period.
0:09 starting the episode: 😆
End of the episode: 😭😭😭 rivers of tears
Tbf, it happens to most of us too 😂
Got me crying for a SECOND TIME!! 😭😭
Was patiently waiting for this after watching Carmen's reactions from episode 1!
And her reactions for this episode were definitely what I expected, especially the hug scene. 😭
Also made me cried again, re-watching the same episode even though I watched it several times already from other reaction videos.
Yea i hasnt cried in like 15 years and watching this episode I had tears running down my cheeks because I lost my mom as a teenager so this destroyed me.
first time ive ever seen her get so emotional it was nice seeing i wasnt the only one that this hit hard
The episode and the moment we've all been waiting for...
Actually she didnt die of her injurys, did you notice at the end of her Dancing If looked Like she was falling and then it went black and a loud thud was Heard. Yeah, she jumped Off a building
This episode tears me apart... every time I watch someone react to it... It's refreshing to have a good cry now and then.
The spiral and crying out for Junpei when the plush fell killed me
Some people think it was wrong of Silky to even meddle with the Yakuza to begin with. She put her own daughter in harms way. She should have known better, but shit happens. It's a tough one. I grew up with a single mom working multiple jobs, but I know she would never have gotten involved with a gang. It's kinda just setting y'all both up for a shitty situation sooner or later.
泣きっぷりが良すぎて私も一緒に号泣しちゃいました。
I'm not crying, YOU ARE
Everyone who read the manga always compare it to future episodes believing it’s going to be more trauma or more emotional than episode 7 and I’m here to say that the emotional impact will hit the same, possibly a little more, if the anime does it correctly and adds more to it.
Acro Silky's flashback will never fail to make me tear up until the day i die 😢
I've been waiting for this one 😭this episode was a VIOLATION fr
Also like, there seems to be a theme here. Turbo Granny would show up at places were girls were assaulted and killed, and now Acrobatic Silky has this? DanDaDan author is a villain
welcome to Dandadan, you came for the amazing figths and crazy comedy, you stay for the wholesome romance and the heartbreaking, and belive me this is probably just top 3 saddest part until now, if this show contines probably woud get One Piece levels of soul crouching backstories
i really agree with you.but dont forget the word that AIRA told to akusara.
"please take them to the kindest place which no one would never hurt them "😂😂😂
omg😂😂😂😂

I'm sorry that you are hurting inside. I hope you feel better soon. =)
I'm sorry for your loss, it was a chapter that hits you whether you are a mother/father or son.
Oh girl,, you're not ready for every backstory in dandadan.....
Again with these comments, mentally preparing her for what to expect...
As stated from one comment from a previous video, let us try not to spoil too much as we want to watch a fresh reaction
@@HMStrausser I knew about the backstory well before this episode, but even being ready, heck even after watching this episode for a week, does not soften the blow. Science SARU really stepped up above and beyond with adapting this episode.
"I'm sure it will be fine."
Narrator: It was not fine.
And now you're here, crying to this episode. Thank you for reaching this one.
EDIT: It takes a lot of courage watching this episode again without crying.
I'm crying again! 😭😭😭 I went into this episode blind and just like you, I thought this was supposed to be a funny, silly show. But now manga people are telling us it's going to get worse!! 😭😭😭😭💔
10:10 new york new jersey accent? "I AM WALKING HERE"
I think everyone knew this episode was gonna destroy Carmen. Like how it emotional destroys most people who watch this episode.
Now I must go cry again😢😢😢😢
The flashback hits hard 😔
we did set expectations lol. just wait, more absolute masterpieces are to come. dandadan is full of lefts where you expect rights, downs where you expect ups, and everywhere else in every direction.
Welcome to DanDaDan!!!
Be prepared for more of this...
This episode doesn't make you cry, it rather makes you process a whole depression
I've watched this episode 3 times now....I've cried to this episode 3 times now.
Yep... She wasn't ready for it... I feel you girl🥲
It’s ok.. we all got to Sob over again with you. It’s good to see backstories… it helps us be merciful, like Aria is at the end, which it makes it all the more beautiful. Fret not.. end of episode 9 will make you laugh at the end as much as this one made you sobbed.
Did you just cry out for Junpei?? 😂 I’m sorry but that made me laugh bc I feel you. Junpei broke my heart to pieces
This is what i have been waiting for ABSOLUTE CENIMA
