Crusader Kings 3 is one of those games I thought I'd never like, but after a thousand hours, it's become my favorite. can't wait to start the Outremer campaign! thanks snap
ive tried to get the outremer campaign for ages, but the christian AI in the crusades is so fucking stupid its like only one in 15 campaigns that works. feel free to try tho
I usually just play a run with different goals in mind and if we do happen to win the Crusade I'll exit the game with the prompt up (which will save while playing Ironman Mode) and then copy the save file so I can play both through.
@@pimmpslapBut... why even bother with Ironman mode then. They updated the game a while back so that you can still get achievements in a non-ironman game. So if you are gonna create two save files, might as well do it the easy way
@@guardianofthehill Because the game is easy enough as it is. I split the save so I can do another campaign I enjoy without having to do the shit again.
@@axelgidius3324bit of a late response but heres my strategy that works like 80% of the time. If tou know hou want to focus on crusades mqke sure to stock up on siege engines for quick sieges, as the crusades approaches you can reaise your army evej before it starts to get into position and start sieging land as far as possible from the wargoal. The defender will try to go after you, sieging back the land meanwhile the rest of the crusaders can safely land and increase their numbers over those of defending. Like i said doesnt always works, the ai is the ai afterall but i have failed quiet rarely using this strategy.
Absolutely. By 170 years or so in I had almost all of Africa. I hybridised my culture with Egyptian to so I had almost all my buildings as upgraded as anyone else on the map. Those buildings included multiple gold mines, so my income was 80 a month or something ridiculous even on a non-stewardship character. If I was just going for conquest I could’ve gotten far more land faster but as it stands it’s basically unstoppable.
@@Kraken9911 I mean, every game you eventually get to a point where everything is a cake walk and it's always hundreds of year before the end date. Haesteinn just speeds it up a bit lmao.
Having played most of these starts myself, I can vouch for them. One more I'd add is playing in Khotan, which is a ring of oases surrounded by mountains. A great spot for a chill hermit kingdom playthrough where you get mega rich.
There's a character which starts (in the base game) with Zunbilism as a secret faith. It's the only other landed Zunbil ruler, and you almost instantly convert to it.
@@kingofsimps5700 In the 867 start date, as a vassal of the Grand Amirate (kingdom )of Makran, in the very North-Eastern corner of the kingdom (bordering the county of Bost), is the county of Zamindawar, owned by another member of the Zunbil dynasty. In decisions, there should be "Reveal True Faith" and "Abandon Secret Fath". By revealing True Faith, you'll convert to Zunism. Hope that helped.
For the Mogyer Migration, you could go to settings and change it to be historical, player only, etc. I know that this means the challenge of the war won't be at the start for Bulgaria and the Mogyers will get rolled by their neighbors, but I just want to point it out because Snap always mentions that this war happens instantly at the start of every game in the 867 start date, which it could if you, again, don't touch the settings.
I have to admit, dwarf fortress conditioned me to see the word "fun" and have an immediate pain response I've played Ghurids once, was insanely fun because I somehow managed to be friends with Tahirids for quite a while: first as a vassal, then as a neighbour, later as a leige. All that despite the fact that I continued to be buddhist (although I created my own faith to allow myself more female rulers). I was playing it a bit too safe and wasn't able to finish the struggle, but I did form Bactria after the struggle was done. That was my first time fighting the mongols, too, which was fun - I even managed to personally capture myself a great husband in one of the battles: Subutai, an actual historical general, has really great stats and traits, we planned a great wedding and became besties \o/ Now need to play this dynasty again, didn't know there was an achievement.
I agree, I just recently did a run reviving the sassanids and bringing Zoroastrianism back into being a major religion by swearing fealty and taking out the tahrids and saffarids with those sweet sweet hindu allies.
It would be actually more historically accurate to start as the brother of the count of Anjou. Since he is the ancestor of Angevin kings, not Geoffrey, and he is pretty good. Playing as him also comes with challenges, as you need to end your brother ASAP before the King takes his lands for being excommunicated, and plus he has 4 personality traits, most of the times 2 of them are considered a Sin in Catholicism, which will make it pretty hard to get pious and request claims. Also if you want to form the duchy of Anjou you will need more counties, which you can get ONLY by fighting insanely strong Normans/English. MOREOVER, you are weaker than your brother, and start off with only one county, while your brother has 2 or 3, and he actually hates you. So I would say play as him is both historically accurate and fun challenge. It took me 100 years of scheming and wars before I could be on the throne of England. Plus you only have a claim on the Duchy of Anjou and not the counties owned by your Brother. So only two ways of getting his lands: either kill him and inherit, or very slowly and costly fabricate claims and conquer, which is nearly impossible considering the fact that the king will end him in the first 5 years of the game.
The duchy of Manding is preposterous. I started as the king of Ghana and just went straight to take it before making it my capital. By 170 years or so in I could be making 120 gold a month with a stewardship character and that was playing wide, I had almost all of Africa. Massively over powered.
Hey man! Nice video your my favourite youtuber, Could you please make a video on fun starts in the more bookmarks mod? Thank you, Keep up these great videos!!! Love from Ireland
The alans north of the caucases are realyl fun in 876, can pretty rapidly build a kingdom under the Khazars, plus you have the Jewish faith right next to you, so you can create an amazing hybrid culture which if you set it to israelite heritage can combine with every other culture in the game, after you've combined with the radhanite faith you can pretty rapidly combine with Georgia to get their mountain cataphracts and then you can be a tribal kingdom with huge buffs to stewardship and learning, horse archers and mountain cataphracts. Your armies become pretty much unstoppable, and the Khazar's are never really much of a threat at all
If playing Audr make sure to use the RICE mod, it has some fun unique decisions like "Convene Iceland's First Althing" plus an optional struggle for Greenland and Vinland!
Glad to see you enjoying the game bud I'd also suggest a creator called bread god gaming. He's great with guides. He has a video where he almost takes over the world in one life. Also Kofish is good as well
Starting with the sapmi is super cool. I once did a run where I took over Scandinavia and my only goal was to make sure Finland never got to exist. No hate towards the Fins, that's just the hilarious scenario that evolved.
Another interesting character in 1066 is Count Eustace of Boulogne in the Duchy of Flanders in northern France. Eustace himself isn’t the main attraction, but his second youngest son, Godfrey, was a major commander of the First Crusade and became the first ruler of the crusader Kingdom of Jerusalem. Also also just a question. When I started playing CK3 some years ago, I swear I saw screenshots from someone’s game showing a title’s full name on the map; ie Kingdom of England vs just England, Kingdom of Castile instead of just Castile, etc. I can’t find this as an in-game setting but I also can’t find it anywhere as a mod, either on the internet or the steam workshop. Anyone know what I’m talking about?
"Angevin isn't a formable nation" Technically, it is. If you become a duke of Anjou, you'll have a decision "found a new kingdom", which turns your duchy into a kingdom, and then you'll get a decicion to turn your kingdom into empire. Obviously, you'll need a lot of land or titles for this, but still, it's really fun to do
Please try a tyrranical character run, I'd like to see a CK3 pro do it, I had a custom ruler with every trait possible to help him be tyrranical (obvi not achievement worthy), murder and executing prisoners actually relieved the guy's stress lol, but managed to get him to age 65 from age 16 before he was in turn murdered. I'd love to see if there's an actual tyrant RP route in this game.
If you guys want an extremely overpowered start that no one has ever talked about, try Pereyaslavl 1066. the guy has like 45 claims and a genius son to a Byzantine princess
If I am correct there are only two landed Karlings on 1066 start, one is a French count and they other is the Duke of Luxembourg who is a member of a cadet branch.
Hey are willing do the Iceland video start? Im trying to as you sugested to murder till I get man of isles and to elevate it then do all sorts of sheningans. Im just curious how to get best start as Audr as she has 3 son and dunno If i should reroll ironman save to get her 1stborn with decent stat or just make new kid hoping to get eugenics and better education and just kill of my sons or to keep them without marriage.
