  • I was looking around trying to compare the size difference between my stock K03 to A K04 and did not see much so I decided I would make one with my new K04. Enjoy!

    good to know you have to hvae a bung on the down pipe. I need to install my wide band so i guess its gotta come back out

      I noticed that when I got the down pipe and I still had my stock turbo. I was wondering why that bung was on that location. It made sense when I saw the K04 and it had no mounting location for the wideband like my stock turbo had. I’m glad that part helped you out!

      @@therandomcarlife7185 yeah, I am replacing the turbo in the next month and am reseraching what others have to say about it. ITs the best solution for daily drivability but still able to pull.
      I built up the platform before I decided to do a bigger turbo.
      IE Tune
      Wagoner Engineering Competition intercooler
      Cold air intake
      ECS High flow cat exhaust ( downpipe, cat and midpipe)
      South bend stage 2 clutch
      forge diverter
      I think with the K04 that all together will make my car come alive.

      Sounds like you have a solid plan with your parts listed and that K04 will definitely have you grinning! I feel like the K04 really ramps in pretty hard and holds boost longer it feels pretty good!

      For sure, the K04 isn’t cheap! That’s the thing it gets a little pricey chasing higher HP but sometimes it just feels right! lol

    Great video hope you figured out the boost leak deal ,,,I hate the factory clips vw used for the boost pipes, it's like they knew they hada leave a leaky spot for the oil to come out lol,,vw ppl know what I'm saying,,but I wanted to know if the cts k04 was the k04 or k04-x,,I'm running all ie software on my mk6 2.0t passat with a dsg ,,,stage 2 an dsg tune an I'm going k04 and planning on staying with ie ,,been really happy with there software,,but ima go cts for the turbo ,,it was ether cts or hpa an I'm leaning cts ,,but not the k04-x because ie's k04 file I've read an ppl have said don't run good with a standard k04 -x turbo,,,I know midnight is running a k04-x with ie software but he said ie made a beta tune for him an a few ppl to run the k04-x,,,I'm sure I could get ie to do that for me to but I don't wanna experiment if you know what I'm saying mines a daily,,I have all the supporting mods and some so I'm good to go k04 just not sure about the k04-x ,,but of all the turbos I've been looking at an what ppl have run already put together like you I'm leaning cts ,,not going to spend 2400 for a bogwarner with some milling done or making my own with relocation kits an zip ties everywhere lol I got enough already,,lol 😂 plus I need them for carbon cleaning,lol but thanks an hope she's running strong for yah

      Thanks, so I installed the CTS K04 not the X version. I just recently killed the turbo due to my GFB diverter. The diverter was the wrong one for my turbo and I didn’t realize it. The GFB did not have a crucial part that made the turbo work harder trying to compensate for the loss of boost. I just received my new turbo today and I decided on the Hybrid X so I’ll see how that works out. I’m going to try and run the same tune since it’s not my daily. I installed my CTS intercooler last night. I’m waiting on the turbo outlet pipe as well, getting rid of the stock VW pancake pipe trying to cut down on restrictions. If that tune doesn’t work out I’ll reach out to IE. The last time I asked them to modify the tune they didn’t want to do it so I’m hoping they will if reach out again. When I got my first tune a few years ago they were willing to modify tunes but I don’t think they are as willing now.. who knows someone probably screwed that up for everyone all it takes is one person who probably didn’t do something right and blamed IE tuning if something happened to their vehicle..

      @@therandomcarlife7185ok damn sorry that really sucks but thank you,,wow the gfb burnt up the turbo,,I guess it was the blow off version not recercularory one ,,huh that's strange,,still it burnt out the turbo,,that sounds somewhat sketchy ,,not saying ur not right it is possible ,,I think I might go hpa now an just replace the wastegate ,,as there problematic and an issue,,but still I'm glad I asked you,,I have a gfb on my diverter with the extra little spring installed, wich gives a little flutter when releasing boost,,but it holds boost wells at least as I can tell tru my gauge,,I went with arm for my piping,,found a set online for half the price as ecs ,,brand new,,an the cts turbo muffler delete strapped on my k03 ,,I guess it's good it burnt the turbo and not leaned out the motor to death sounds like it ran really rich to much fuel not enough air ,,cuzz the diverter was leaking it out ,,unless urs was recercularory ,,,but I'm trying to avoid exactly what happened to ur setup an if cts's k04 burnt up that fast from a diverter issue well now I'm thinking hpa or bogwarner k04 I don't wanna have to throw another 2k down her ina few months,,Frigin go fast bits ,,I'm thinking I should take mine off now lol ,it does give a soft code I pick up with my obdeleven for no boost pressure detected,,but never throws an engine light an it says on gfbs web site that that's normal ,,maybe not,,I do all my work myself was a head mechanic at a shop for a few years awhile back before so I'm pretty knowledgeable with engines ,,but that don't mean I wanna always be under the hood an opening the wallet lol,,I'm pretty easy on my car ,,until I'm not yeah know ,,but I Change my oil at 3000 regardless an only put good fuel in ,,considering I'm running a 93 octane file ,,I sorry to hear that though, ,always something,,let me know how that goes,,and ur absolutely right about ie ,,I'm sure they told those ppl they gave the file to,,hey we're not standing behind this because they never got to run the file long term an diagnosis it ,,an ie's customer service is top notch,,like there tunes ,but let me know how that goes,,ima hols back a bit longer a run my k03 for about another month or so before I pull the trigger on something,,especially considering I'm still on the fence as far as which k04 to run

      That was just the wrong GFB and I didn’t get the plunger with it so I thought okay that’s odd and ran it. So I’m sure that’s what caused it. I’m thinking that it was trying to make up for the boost lost from the missing plunger and that turbo was probably pushing extremely hard trying to make the boost! I noticed when I thought I had a bad GFB and I got the new one from Urotuning and when I got that one I was like hold on the one I pulled off didn’t have that part. I screwed that up because I bought the first one from Amazon and that was the first mistake.. I normally buy everything from urotuning or IE and ECS. That’s cool you do engines. I’m a maintenance manager and like doing all my work on my vehicles and sharing it with people on the Tubes. I get not wanting to work on a vehicle when you do it all day. I don’t want to come home to do maintenance related things after I get off work lol. I just like knowing that I can do things like this to my car and enjoy the benefits afterwards but I do find myself cussing out the car when working on it sometimes but I don’t when recording lol!! Oh the code is normal when using the GFB I read that the code comes up because it has something to do with I believe over boost or something like that I don’t remember the specifics. Probably because it’s stronger than the stock diverter valve set up. I blew the stock one out on my K03 and that’s when I got the GFB.

      @@therandomcarlife7185 ahhhhhh I get it now ,,ohh yeah definitely that will do it,,,cheap China Amazon version,,,all because some idiot did put all the part in the bag ,,shit that's ruff,,,,yeah that turbo was struggling the whole time you were driving then ,,ok that makes sense then,,,yeah how the hell would you just know it wasn't all together,,damn that's shity ,,an yeah I know the feeling I curse at her an rub an talk sweetly to her as well lol 😂 shit you really didn't get a chance to run it correctly then from the jump of running the k04 cuzz of something draining the turbo spool to keep up with the boost request from the ecu,,shit that'll do it,,,how many miles before it went do you think you put on it before it went out

    Hello..I have the k04 cts..if upgrade meth must buy forced wastegate?

      I had installed the snow performance kit and I didn’t change anything . I didn’t have any problems. I don’t run it anymore because I installed a new intercooler and I used the meth to cool air temps until I could install a bigger intercooler. I also have the catch can so I didn’t need the meth to clean the valves, hopefully that catch can is preventing carbon buildup!

      Yes I know it..but you can catch 2 bar with meth and stock wastegate and stock blow of?

      @@Gti6 I’m not sure what psi I had with the CTS Ko4 but I believe 2 bars is about 29-30 psi and I’m sure that would be close. I’m using the stock recirculating valve and don’t have a blow off valve. My gauge wasn’t working and need to either fix or replace that so I can monitor my boost. I don’t have the standard CTS turbo anymore and will update the channel later but I have a CTS Ko4 hybrid X now so I feel like it’s definitely putting out more boost than the standard turbo. I gotta get the gauge going so I can see what I’m getting now.

    Hello I have 2008 audi a3 2.0t Fsi if I Accelerate it is Cutting Boost I think turbo is Going Bad And i found Oil in Intercooler im thinking to swap k04 Turbo Will it fit On audi A3 fwd Any Link wher to Order the Turbo Do I need to Change Down Pipe what about the Cat If i Delete Cat Check engine Will pup On any Info Helps Thanks

      That does sound like the turbo. Here’s a few to try, ECS tuning, Urotuning and integrated Engineering. You will probably need a down pipe, cold air intake as well.
