The DCMA strike on my channel got lifted, so I can finally publish this video! It's been a while since I recorded it, so I don't quite remember all that I said in here. 🙂 Hopefully there are some insightful thoughts amidst my usual ramblings.
I love Jordan Peterson. I've seen him several times and have even met him. I was just blessed to catch him a couple weeks ago. Have followed him for years.
Hello, thank you for another video. I wanted to bring up an autism issue. I am a high functioning autistic man. I remember when I was single, I would get "single shamed" by men and women (who they themselves might be single, in a LTR or married, and most of the shaming came from men). I really was not interested nor looked for their opinion. I got the idea that, it is not enough for men to be in a relationship, they want people around them to be in a relationship. Maybe the idea is, if a man is single, he "needs to be fixed / saved". Myself, and the handful of autistic friends I have, we are comfortable being alone. As in, yes, some of us get into relationships and some will be single forever. However, neurotypical people have such a hunger to be in a relationship and poke their nose into other people's lives. I consider this, one of those, I just operate differently than neurotypical people. I do not understand why neurotypical people are like that.
10:00 fear is what dies when confronted. Stepping out of ones comfort zone gradually and you can burn the dead wood you no longer need without losing yourself completely.
When I first watched a few Jordan Peterson videos I found his ideas intriguing, but soon I began to feel that he was more style than substance. What he said about how audiences love it when you float a lot of ideas and then bring them together at the end of a talk reinforces to me that he's a showman. Little that he says actually resonates with my life experiences, and I feel there is an underlying negative and ultimately hopeless tone to it. It's good to explore the negative sometimes, but life is so full of good things I prefer to spend more time on those aspects.
The low provides contrast to the highs. Very common mythological trope. Gods, heros often visit hell before acending to heaven. And stoic practices like memento mori utilise that type of contrasting to see the beauty of the mundane.
Also, I really do love finding people who think like me, and man is it rare outside youtube. But this is probably the reason for my austism/tube addiction. Though they are mostly female on youtube, because asd men can't communicate very well. Most of the men aren't like me very much because they have so much less theory of mind. But the fear and anxiety I think is More when this is the case. The low theory of mind cases, they often just think they know everything, and they know neither fear nor doubt, very high self esteem.
OEDIPAL from the story of Oedipus, King of Thebes in Greek mythology. Found in Homer's writings, the story of Oedipus is a great story. Freud related the story and coined the term 'Oedipus Complex' to describe a male who is 'in love' with his mother. The female version is the 'Electra Complex'.
I’m so beyond taking Peterson seriously as a part od public discourse. There are other conservatives who I like to listen to challenge my dumb beliefs. JP had said like one thing worthy of paying attention to. For most part he’s only adding gasoline to already ruined public/on-line sphere.
Do you remember that Google programmer James Demore that became famous for writing the paper about why most women don't want to work in programming at google and he got fired and cancelled harder than anyone who ever lived? He wrote this Entirely Jordan Peterson copy cat paper, sounding just like him, and some of the women who Defended him even , in the million op eds on the guy said "well, it's not that bad, and he clearly has aspergers". And he later in an interview on youtube said, he did Think he was on the spectrum after thinking about it. I think a lot of autistics, particularly with less theory of mind struggle to figure out who too follow. Like they can't recognize intellectual integrity. Many type two cases Love trump, scientology, qanon like my dad.
I've only seen clips of him. And can't stomach him, so avoid. But yeah I see it, I see a lot actually and you may be on to something with dementia like changes. I've been researching epilepsy because I am Autistic and Epileptic and stumbled down the Lewy bodies rabbit hole in my search for understanding, fascinating stuff, scary too. I see how you could think this, and agfee.
