You tend to avoid that direct on shot of that cyclops. Everyone complains about the magnification, but I honestly really prefer this type of magnification, than having some 2.5 magnification that feels like I have to look all they way around cyclops to catch the second digit in there because the date looks too bulbous.
Excellent Vid and review of a very interesting watch ( Generation 2 ) that could have been an out standing watch if only they had made it self winding/hacking and signed the crown.
Most Orient Day Date watches have the day on the top, but this has it on the bottom. Are they a Generation 1 and a Generation 2 that was released or why does it differ? Is there any difference in the value between the model that has in on the top vs bottom like this one?
Yes, I believe they are the earlier generations with the day on top, and later ones with the day at the bottom. Not sure why they changed it, but I think generally the day at the top will be more valuable than the bottom

I think the huge magnification on something like a Rolex is just a bit too much, it can overpower the rest of the dial sometimes

I completely agree. Those small changes would have made a huge difference
I want to buy that one. Could you tell me where you bought it?
I bought mine on eBay a few years ago. They're discontinued now though so they'll be hard to find unfortunately

The dark blue is nice. Really laid down the budgetness of the watch. Sounds like a good insult. You’re just budget.
"Budget" is the new "Basic"
Do you know if the bezel can be replace or remove?
I'm not sure. It can probably be removed but I don't know where you'd find a different one that fits properly
I see one right now for $400, like new condition. Im thinking about it.
Supply and demand I guess. I'm probably biased because I paid less but 400 is the very top end of what the watch is worth imo
Alright thanks man! I see a lot of these orient day dates going for $800 and up in some spaces. Wild haha
Where are you seeing one for 400? Ive been scouring the internet for one.
japanese watches are sure fire bang for buck..
The only place you can get better value is AliExpress
why you are wearing the watch to your right hand? are you left-handed?
Yep, left-handed
The day at the bottom looks out of place
I'd definitely prefer it at the top like on the older gen models, but you get used to it
