- There's two ways to snap boost:
The first is the least effective and least applicable where you use the snap when transitioning between two vertically offset billboards.
The second is widely applicable and VERY effective, landing perfectly on the corner of a billboard will cause you to rocket off parallel to it at insane speed.
TIPS FOR KEEPING SPEED:
MANUAL/SLIDE!!
Don't jump off rails
Don't use boost or boost tricks
Don't double jump - เกม

One other glitch i didnt get a recording off but could be worth looking into, I was grinding on rails where i'd corner boosted, but the rail was going down, i think i might've jumped on the frame that the elevation changed, and the characters jumping hight nearly tripled, could be something to look into

I performed this accidentally earlier and was so confused but also excited at the prospect of being able to potentitally mess around with boosting mechanics for speedrunning
The second part is goonriding/goonboosting, was found day 1. U can goonslide which i found yesterday on versus hill by sliding under signs on the downhill and jumping on the corner. The boosting in the turn is cool tho

OHHHH so thats what it was! I kept on trying to recreate it but never knew what it was. Also knowing that there's a cap from jumping off rails is good confirmation, couldn't figure it out.
I did it by accident once and I am glad others found it too.

i did this once in one of the dream sections where its the long billboard before the rotating buildings - i landed on the back of it and flew off the corner

you can also hit the manual button while jumping off a rail to do a short hop and keep your speed

The small island in Mataan where you combo challenge one of the Futurism chicks has atleast one of the aforementioned billboards of velocity death and multiple times I was sent off flying without a clue.
i accidentally found this out myself but it wasnt with the billboards it was on millennium square it happened when i was trying break out the map, theres some red areas that look like grind spots but they're not. and when i touched a regular grind rail i got yeeted forward
I had this happen to me in Versum Hill off of the billboards in the middle of the main area. Sent me right through a building and out of bounds.

I hit this a few times on accident but never knew exactly how to do it and every time it happened I screamed
I have discovered that if you get off your skateboard a little after you land on a vert ramp you get insane momentum, don’t know if it’s useful.
I accidentally found this in the race against Coil in Mataan, and was able to throw up my tag on the wall thanks to it. Lucky too since I was losing.
EDIT: I replicated it there, and it's actually a craaaazy point to practice it consistently. If you mash A on the long NNilo's billboard where you race Coil, it can line you up on the corner of the billboard pretty nicely. Then you have the entire skyrise playground to try out the trick.

i saw a guy doing a few trick/attacks with his walking mode on to start his run but after he slid on the ground he jumped during the slide and got a ton of immediate speed do you know how thats done?
i got a text from vinyl today telling me that if i jump off a rail while pressing RT i keep the momentum from the rail so there's that

You can basically skip the entirety of mataan with it and go straight to the final boss without tagging anything

You say rail jumping, but if you hold rt and rail jump, you keep more momentum, is that still true for that

I did something similar and I honestly thought it was a bug... in my case instead of using a billboard I jumped off the railing too soon and triggered the speed boost to amp up

so technically the billboards you're using for this tech have a specific name, the Dewerrun. but this technique broadly is actually called zipping(recently "zipping" has also been used), and we use it everywhere in the speedrun. it's actually possible to completely skip chapter 5 by hitting a trigger to start the final boss sequence. we call that trick zip, and it's a 20 minute timesave!
also, respectfully, your explanation of this tech is misinformed (reasonably, though, it's an easy mistake)
the reason goonriding works is NOT because of the snap of the billboard. why this works is actually a lot simpler. when you touch a billboard, the game will give you a large speed boost (i assume to normalize your speed, but unknown why) and that speed is immediately taken away until you're at the max running speed for wallrides. *however*, if you only touch the billboard for one frame, the game never gets a chance to remove that speed boost. therefore, goonrides!
this is also why corners are a lot easier to hit - the billboard's corner is positioned juuuust right to get the speedboost and immediately dismount the wall. this is also why Dewerrun specifically works - the position of the two billboards meet just right to get the speed boost for one from off one of the billboards!

I think they should increase the amount of speed you can gain without glitches, i think building speed would be so much fun in this game.
If you hold manual before jumping off a grind rail you keep your momentum at the cost of a shorter jump

yeah, everywhere there's a billboard / wallrunnable surface, the current speedrun uses a massive skip on the last chapter thanks to it

Good question, I'll have to test that. But as far as I can tell, it doesn't work on rails because they cap your velocity when you jump
