    Another detail about the Saranids I noticed. They earn money really fast. Trading to and from the Saranids is extremely lucrative compared to other factions, and their troops are quite cheap to recruit. Numbers will be your best weapon with them, so pump your character full of charisma.

      In my own experience, this is absolutely correct. My favorite mix with Sarranids are Mamlukes and Horseman, and rest is just veteran footman and skirmishers, with few archers. With enough charisma in mid-late game they will swarm every other faction with ease, and when i loose so many troops, it takes 2 days to create another skirmisher-veteran stack of 150 man. Also, on siege defense skirmishers tend to DESTROY most attacking armies with jarids, just if u take care to let them loose at the very close range.

      I think they meant to use a tactic where you use a mass of guards to lock down enemy troops and then pelt them with arrows/flank them with mamelukes.

    Started as a vassal of the sarranid sultanate, I never lost one battle in the open field after I upgraded to Mamelukes, also took most of the castles and cities defended by any other faction with a good combination of Master Archers for cover fire, and Mamelukes for meelee, they are excellent in sieges, almost as tanky as Swadian Knights. Very underrated faction, and my personal favorite.

    For early game you didn't mention that starting in the Sarranid location means that you will encounter those mounted desert bandits with frequent couched lance damage. This makes early gameplay extremely frustrating. All you end up doing is indefinitely running around in circles 1 vs 37 trying to kill their horses one at a time while your 88 recruits died in the first minute.

They have a beastly position on the map, their mamelukes are great, their master archers can almost trade 1 for 1 with the Vaegirs and sporting a ton of skirmishers/spear infantry right behind the cav can really fit perfectly. I've always had an interest in desert civilizations, whether they are from North Africa, the Middle East or from Central Asia, so when I first got Mount and Blade Warband I chose the Sarranids. My first kingdom was with Ahmerrad and I expanded through the desert before taking over the Khergits. I agree on sarranid mamluke being possibly even stronger than swadian knights, but their elite infantry is definitely a lot better than you give credit for. Their elite infantry can easily defeat most of the other faction elite infantry's and whenever I am in a fight with them I am a bit worried, even if I have prepared for many in-game days to fight with them. I generally don't think that there is a weak faction in "mount and blade: Warband" every one of them is powerful, it's just that you have to know how to play with a faction you have chosen, to win. My comment is not an attack on your video (i like your videos), but I ask of you one thing can you try making one on one fights in game, because I know that in one on one fight Sarranid Guard can definitely beat Swadian sergeant, Rhodok sergeant, Veager guard, and 50% chance beating dismounted Khergit lancer.

      Mercenaries are good when you want to mess up with every caravan, every peasant party and every lord party, because they don't lose morale as they don't belong to these people groups. Say, you want to create a "civil war situation" in Swadia, so you use only Swadian troops. Because you fight against other Swadians, their morale will lower after each battle.

    I feel like you should also take into account the geography of the regions especially if you're doing Rhodocks next. My first play through I stopped being a mercenary after Arwa the Pearled One, went into the Sultanate with with about 40 Huscurls and another 40 Rhodock Sharpshooters and led the Sarranid Rebels on a bloody yet efficient victory. I learned how to use the Sarranid to their peak by both massacring them and loosing elite troops to their tactics. Their infantry is aweful but the high level of agility does allow them to run up the enemy throw their Javelins and lure the enemy into a trap. The reason I brought up geography is because the Sultanate is the easiest kingdom to defend by far. The mountain range leaves only 3 points of access so as Marshall its incredibly simple to defend your kingdom's heartland even during multiple conflicts at once.

    Mamluks are my favorite unit bar none. I run with 119 Mamluks and 20 Swadian Knights in front of them (Knights tend to keep their shields up more on the starting charge, so I just use them to stop lancers so the Mamluks can flatten the line) And they are my favorite siege troop as well because they love using the maces to knock through the men at the top of ladders and siege ramps. Once your past that? The biggest danger is over.

    i remember looking at a list of best troops in the game and i actually pasted it here now i think it was mostly opinion but im not sure but i would imagine most of it would line up with what resonant says too.
    Nords - Nord Huscarls (Infantry)
    Vaegir - Vaegir Master Archers (Archers)
    Vaegir - Vaegir Sergeants (Defense Infantry) *most armored infantry*
    Khergits - Cavarly Archers I guess, but they still suck and die easily
    Sarranids - Sarranid Master Archers (Archers) *strongest archers in game*
    Sarranids - Mamluks (Cavalry) *highest defense and high attack*
    Rhodoks - Rhodok Marksmen (Crossbowmen)
    Swadia - Swadian Knights (Cavalry) *highest attack cavalry*
    An army of 70+ Swadian Knights will crush any army with the exception of 70+ Mamluks or 70+ Huscarls. I'm sure the Huscarls would win that battle, but it would be pretty even against the Mamluks. Regardless, there isn't an AI lord in this game that fields that kind of army, so 70+ Swadian Knights turns this game into easy mode. Keep about 40 Nord Huscarls and 40 Sarranid Master Archers in a castle somewhere and use that mixture for sieges and you have an unstoppable force.
    i did find this just from google searching for best units from each faction and it took me to a gamefaq board from 2012

    Mate, you're incredibly underestimating the Sarranids. The Sarranid guards in your own video destroyed the Swadians, knights and all others. They are some of the most heavy hitting troops with their big axes, I would say only rivalled by Huscarls who are actually a higher tier and since they are not equal in tier, then they can't really be compared. The Sarranid Master Archer is the best archer unit there is, anyone who played against the Sarranids on the highest difficulty would attest to that especially during sieges that are exclusively Sarranids. The Mamluks only weak point compared to the Swadians is their armor, other than that, they are about THE most complete faction. They are shit at first but they sure do come a long long way when they reach their max level.

    Personally I think that the Sarranids are the best faction. They have a great starting position on the map, I never see them lose their own starting land, and I feel like their army is the most conjoined in the game. Sure they have weak points in their infantry but it never concerns me because the other parts of the army make up for it. The infantry are just there to hold a line so the archers can fire many volleys into the enemy with mamaluks crashing into the sides of the enemy, keeping the pressure off the infantry

    the only sarranid infantry I use are the skirmishers with their javelin, they are very effective to hold a position when the enemy is in short range. The sarranid archers are nice against light armored units. In my latest playthrough I used cheap sarranid skirmishers to cover my nord veterans while they advance slowly toward enemy groups. I keep my cheap khergit cavalry in orbit and charge in when the nord make contact. It's somewhat good, not as effective as a full swadian or mercenary cavalry charge, but it does the job for less denars.

  • @Lawfulsphinx
    @Lawfulsphinx 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    For the skirmishes I suggest you make them there own group tell them hold fire and when the enemy’s get close tell them to fire at will and profit you’ll most likely kill a decent amount of troops or atleast horses of being charged by cav

  • @eldeebcampeador
    @eldeebcampeador 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    You're saying that the Elite Guard are trash?? Well try attacking a castle with 75 Master Sarranid archers, 50 Elite Guard and 50 Mamluks. See how you fare then. I fought against a castle of 155 with lesser numbers than these and had myself soldiers at max level along with 2 of my allies with around 200+ soldiers each along with my 135 and I got shredded to pieces. I attacked Yalen which had nearly a 260 strong garrison of Rhodok spearmen and Nord Huscarls and Veterans and even though I lost several times but I was able to reduce the entire garrison to dust.
    Whenever I fight against a smaller army with maxed out Sarranid soldiers I always worry because even though I am pretty sure of the win on all open battlefields, with them soecifically I really worry about high casualities, followed by Nords/Vaegir infantry, then Swadians, then Rhodoks and finally Khergits. But for the most part, the Sarranids are a scary faction and no wonder they own half the freaking map in my game.

    The third tier infantry has a large shield and a spear, not to be underestimated on the high ground or seiges. Backed up by some of the strongest archers and cav. But the only armour is on the cav so you need to use those bigger shields and longer weapons. Neighbouring rodoks have strongest spear and strongest crossbow though, makes it a tough match.

  • @esthera3923
    @esthera3923 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Master archers are great in sieges just due to their sheer versatility. They can hold their own quite well in melee combat and have excellent firing rates. The Mamlukes are the best cavalry in the game (arguably), but for infantry I almost always use Hired Blades instead. Since Hired Blades count as being Mounted in terms of map mobility (since they used to be cavalry in original M&B), combined with the excellent mobility of both Sarranid Master Archers and the Mamlukes you can get up to levels of strategic mobility only rivalled by the Khergits, but unlike the Khergits, you won't be useless in sieges or rough terrain.
    If you're willing to sacrifice some strategic mobility, you could also try recruiting infantry from the Nords or even the Rhodoks. The anti-cavalry ability of the Rhodoks combined with the fire rate of the archers can trap and wither down enemies while your Mamlukes get behind them and demolish their forces. And unlike the Nord Huscarls, which take quite a while to train, the Rhodok Sergeants can actually be trained rather quickly. In the time it takes me to get a Nord Recruit to a Nord Warrior, I usually can get a Rhodok Recruit up to a Sergeant

    I never really thought of the Saranids as the weakest faction, if anyone got that title, I would actually say, it would probably be the Vaegirs. They get some decent mid tier troops but then they kind of just fall flat and dont even really have any decent options. I get that their archers are sort of badass, but in my experience the Vaegir infantry line just collapses long before you ever get the chance to deal out a lot of damage with them. Not only that, but as the vaegir, your only real options for fights early on are Nords who will outclass you pretty much at every step, save for in cavalry where you still take heavy losses thanks to your troops lack of good lance damage; The swadians who are just flat out the strongest faction in the game, and the khergits whose only real fault is their lack of good siege defense and poor horse archer AI.
