That's kinda what it was like for me at first. I couldn't beat him without endlessly using continues. Now I've gotten better, and I can kill him pretty quick like.

Personally, I think Magician is the only truly bad ass boss in this game. The Emperor was fairly bad ass, but he seemed so robotic. Magician was actually out for revenge, and he has the best soundtrack. =P
@CheddarMuffin121 Wheel of fate was 100 times harder to kill than Magician, at least the Hotd2 one. Its because al you need to do is hit magician once and he stops attacking.
