Agree with what was said about Gladiator II. I didnt HATE it necessarily but left the theatre roasting it with my friends. I still found it somewhat entertaining but honestly it was just lazy and not a patch on the first which is one my favourites. Also agree with Matty on the kiss scene in Gladiator. Phoenix is incredible as Commodus. Makes your skin crawl from the first 5 seconds he's on screen.
Excellent episode! I felt the share between Matty, Lock, the questions, the movie, and interchange between the various voices and discussion was just about perfect in this one. I wasn't able to re-watch Gladiator ahead of the episode, but definitely plan on doing that soon, so that I can be better prepared for seeing the sequel in my local metroplex : )
Glad you liked Gladiator! I’ve always loved this movie and how the Roman Empire is depicted. I think this movie is a major reason for why a lot of guys think about the Roman Empire a lot lol
One of my top 10 films for sure, and I’m slightly younger than Matty. Had a similar experience seeing bits here and there until I finally watched it in full a few years back.
"My name is Marcus Desimeses Muridius, True emperor of rome, father to a murdered son, husband to murdeded wife and i will have my revenge in this life or the next"
Matty! I’m glad you brought up the Todd Howard phil Spencer “too many features before shattered space” article. When it came out I was hoping you’d make a video about it because, wow, talk about out of touch with your fans!!
I seriously hope you guys at least do Indy 4/Crystal Skull eventually, it’s honestly not that bad. Its honestly as good if not better than some of the Star Wars prequels. You can still feel Lucas and Spielberg behind the camera.
It’s overhated for sure, I think it’s actually a pretty good Indy film. Lots of iconic moments in that movie for better or worse. Nuketown from call of duty became a thing because of crystal skull.
Matty, I beg you to go into the Indiana Jones sequels with an open mind wherever you get around to them. Sure, they may not be as good as the OG trilogy, but I think theres fun and genuine enjoyment to be had watching them. I can't defend the deepfaking in 5 tho lol, but otherwise, I think it's solid!
With regards to Indy…. I remember being told that chronologically (for Indy) temple of doom is the first… I hope Locke has Matty watch it first… raiders and last crusade are epic, and temple I always found just kinda ehh. It was my first Indy movie too, and it’s good, but it can’t hold a candle to the other two (perhaps it’s the blonde.. her screaming just bugged the heck outta me)
I think Crystal Skull should be in there also, it’s still Spielberg and Lucas and feels like Indy unlike the 5th one. Kindof an underrated film in my opinion.
@@ronaldhershner5841 I can understand that sentiment about the 5th one, but I just can’t do it with 4. Even though I like Last Crusade more than Crystal Skull, I think Crystal Skull was a better ending for the character compared to 3. 3 still had a fantastic ending though, I just think 4 was better as an ending for the franchise.
Funny Matty says Scott is his goat director currently, that's bc you watched his 2 best films (they are amazing)...but besides those he's made nothing but meh-bad movies 😅
DO NOT touch Gladiator!! Wow ..all of the ideas stated in the first 60 seconds for ''Gladiator 2'' sounds like This is a new ''Studio Universal'' knock off. Utter horse shit. This feels like one of the fake trailers at the start of Tropic Thunder. When the rap starts playing, I thought Vin Diesel was going to show up with his V8 in the arena. I remember my grandmother saying to me: “I don’t care what they tell you in school, the Colosseum was designed for its acoustics for rap concerts.” Soyboy actor, Romans of questionable form the pathetic rap music... as typical Studio Universal quality. I pray that this is just a jest. I am 100% certain that no one in the cesspit that is the woke faminazi cult of Hollywood will have the artistic talent to ever do justice to Gladiator. And I was correct. Although Pedro Pascal & Denzel Washington are to epic actors that seems to have interesting and fitting roles in this film, sporting well crafted battles/naval sieges, I am still highly sceptical Imagination and good storytelling is dead, the passion for writing a good/inspired story is non-existent in Western ‘’entertainment’’ companies. When someone has a passion for something, they will write a story so good, gripping , engaging ,complex and well thought out that it will become a point of note all on its own. Such as ‘’Lawrence of Arabia.’’, ‘’Lord of the Rings’’, ''Brave Heart'', ‘’Inception’’ ,’’The Prince of Egypt.’’,’’Phantom of the Opera’’, ’’Last of the Mohicans’’ ,’’Silence of the Lambs’’ ,’’The English Patient.’’ AND GLADIATOR!!! A story / film so brilliant, it does not require a sequel/franchise , it is art perfected in one take. Writing a good/inspired story is now an anathema in Hollywood, for Hollywood/Western ‘’entertainment’’ companies has become a machine with but two objectives: 1.Greed - churning out shitty, rushed, unimaginative franchise film one after the other (Marvile) like a Chinese sweatshop production line ,just to rake in the cash, regardless of the cheap, trashy quality. 2.To spread the propaganda of the woke faminazi cult that has infested the West. ‘’The Shadow that bred them can only mock,it cannot make: not real things of its own. I don’t think it gave life to Orcs, it only ruined them and twisted them…’’ - Frodo, The Return of the King. Evil Is Sterile. It cannot create, cannot imagine or have new ideas, certainly cannot produce new forms of life, It may be able to propagate, but only in the manner of The Virus or The Corruption, by turning everything into more of itself. Beings who have fallen under evil control, whether they are Reforged into a Minion or taken over by their Superpowered Evil Side, become cruder and twisted versions of themselves. They may gain power, but they lose crucial aspects that once made them special, and will probably not behave very intelligently. Ultimately, the hope of this kind of evil is to, at best, corrupt the whole world into being just like itself, and at worst, destroy everything. The possibility of making something new and different is anathema to it. 1 Corinthians 15:33 - Don’t be deceived, bad company corrupts good character. Isaiah 5:20 - 20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! 23 Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him! Each year Hollywood/Netflix/Amazon/Disney/Modern ‘’Entertainment’’ CNN/BBC/Fox, evolves further and further into the Reich Ministry of Public Enlightenment and Propaganda. It doesn't aim to entertain/provide factual news, it’s only aim is to emulate Joseph Goebbels , mastering the art of spreading the Propaganda of their Woke feminazi cult. I think it's a good move getting Matty's general thoughts before going to questions, keep this format please! Loving the channel guys.
Recommends "Signs" (2002) with all the alien talk going on.
What a treat of a film to watch for the first time the performances were incredible

This movie i saw in the theater with my father.
By the ending he was holding my hand and crying.

Oh shit! Raiders?! You've never seen them before? God this is going to be the best episode yet.
Really cool that Indiana Jones is the next list but disappointed Stalker won't get watched with the upcoming game
Glad you liked Gladiator! I’ve always loved this movie and how the Roman Empire is depicted. I think this movie is a major reason for why a lot of guys think about the Roman Empire a lot lol
Gladiator is one of the best action movies of all time. Glad to hear you checked it out!
THANK GOODNESS you're gonna watch Indiana Jones before the game launches lol I was hoping you would the movies are fantastic and such a great time.
Been looking forward to this! Going to watch this episode later tonight!

I actually just watched it for the first time today! Definitely good, but not great. Excited to see the sequel tho!

I'm excited for this one. This is my top 3 movies all time
Hah!!! I'm about to rewatch it again myself in prep for Gladiator 2. Gonna watch this right after :D
Should have said how Reed died, in a pub in Malta
Maybe its because they call him God Howard for years
Watch next hacksaw ridge, you wont regret it
I seriously hope you guys at least do Indy 4/Crystal Skull eventually, it’s honestly not that bad. Its honestly as good if not better than some of the Star Wars prequels. You can still feel Lucas and Spielberg behind the camera.
Hopefully I'm not the first to recommend Colosseum Shadow of Rome!!!! Incredible and realistic game for PS2
I'm an outsider here but Crystal Skull was not that bad. It's completely overhated. Is it "as good" as the originals? No. But it's still not that bad.

I watched this movie for the first time when I was 13. My firstborn son will be called Maximus because of this performance. Truly a brilliant movie.
Don’t do that lol
Don't give your children unusual names, trust me.
@@ClellBiggsyou realize he will just be called max right?
@@Spartansareawesome11 I didn't think of that. Should be fine if he goes by that instead.
Don’t call your kid that 😂 especially because of a movie
There is room to do better with Russell's Crow performance?? Huh

@ I have to agree with Locke (and Ernest cline if you’ve read Ready Player One) and pretend that anything after crusade doesn’t exist.
@@ronaldhershner5841 I can understand that sentiment about the 5th one, but I just can’t do it with 4.
